They're not showing Zod, they are showing Davis reincarnated as Zod since Zod/Fiora created DD and he looked like his father. It is season 6 all over again.

We saw Zod already in season 6. I posted in another thread that Zod cannot be a season long villain b/c before he came out guns blazing trying to take over the world. There is no reason to believe that he will be any more calculating in his efforts this time.
And we aren't really seeing Zod in his physical form, it is Davis as Zod. It is about the same as having Lex be the vessel for Zod in season 6. The only difference is Zod is supposed to be Davis' "father" so there is a connection there. It's just boring to me that we are going to see the same thing.

we've already done zod before why can't season 9 be about intergang or darkseid or even Hank Henshaw?

MOD EDIT
To me, I'd say it lived up to the hype, I loved every second of it.
Zod as a season villian could indeed work as he could take his time and be more calculative, why? Because he will have been humbled by his first defeat and rather than rush in like last time he will seek a weakness and exploit it and then strike, simplez!

But that's not Zod or any other Kryptonian villain that has been on SV. Everytime a Kryptonian has come to earth (Zod and his disciples before that) they have come in full force from the beginning. It worked the first time b/c Brainiac was the one plotting and being calculated in trying to release Zod. And like I've said, we've been there and done that. . . give us someone else to be the villain, there are plenty to choose from.
IMO, there are 3 things that really hurt what otherwise could've been one of the best episodes ever on SV. Number 1 was the horrible Jimmy plot twist they gave us. That was awful and a really bad move. Number 2 was Zod for the reasons I've already given. And number 3 was the Clark/DD "fight". We saw that much from the Director's Cut. It was very anti-climactic after a huge buildup for a throwdown. I realize they couldn't do a whole lot due to budget but they could've given us more.
But don't mistake my being upset right now with a dislike for the show. Far from it. I have watched this show since day one and will watch until the end. It is my favorite show on tv. However, I can disagree with a decision the writers have made and give my opinion on it. It doesn't mean I dislike the show or am any less of a fan for it.

So we've been down the Zod road before, taking over Lex, Dark Thursday..yada yada yada. So he gets sent to the phantom zone with the crystal that Tess just destroyed, but somehow he ended up in the orb thing instead? And Clark destroying the beast will help Kandor? Alot to cram into in 40 something minutes. Plus i think we mostly agree that Sam will be playing Zod because he is quote "the splitting image of his father" without the goatee of course. Yeah the whole Jimmy thing is one thing, the lame o Doomsday fight another. But Zod again!?!? I guess they cn show his potential more, i just thought Smallville has kind of been here done that with him, even if it was limited. And on another note i've already been hearing talk of season 10!?!? I need confirmation of that because i'm not buying that for a second. All in all I'm just happy the show is still on. I'm just hoping all the plot holes don't get filled in half-baked in the first 10 minutes of the season 9 premiere. Rushing stories along isn't cool.

Actually his phantom was consumed like food by the crystal to restore the Fortress at the end of Fallout, meaning Zod's phantom was converted into energy & used up. So there shouldn't even be a Zod anymore. I would think had Zod been around we would have seen him in Bloodline.

It's lame. I might finally be done with Smallville. Have zero interest in Zod and Sam (whatever his name is). Bad actor. Lame writers. Can I have my time back?

I doubt it. It would be better than the JLA, which to me is obviously the focus with that Watchtower set & Jimmy's death. They'll be moving away from the Daily Planet characters and towards the JLA characters. So those of us who are in it to see Superman are fresh out of luck.

Yes, but the speculation is that Zod is possessing Davis' body since Faora said he was a spitting image of his father (Zod).

That's what i also thought would happen, but Davis' body is dead. So it can't be used as a vessel can it? That's why Jor El was telling Clark that he had to kill the vessel that was meant for Zod. I really hope that they have an explanation for this.

Ok, Zod return might be interesting. Yes he wanted to take over the world but this time around he might be OBESSED on destroying Kal-El and everyone associated with him. He did the takeover the world thing already so now, it's about destroying the one man who can stop him. Like Green Goblin did in the first Spiderman movie. He went after Spidey's "heart"

Who knows. There's no consistency on this show. Lex needed to have his body be prepped for possession but then Lois in Bloodline needed none of that. Every vessel we saw had to be alive, but that doesn't mean jack to the writers. It's a damn circus.

maybe its not zod maybe they just want us to think it was. the symbol on his back wasnt the zod sybol it was that symbol on thekey used to activate the orb and on injustices costumes and stuff. maybe its someone who worked with zod guess we have to wait and see. who knows maybe its darkseid. going from doomsday to zod seems like a step back.

Having any more intergalactic enemies after the failure that was Doomsday would be a very bad idea IMHO.

i just hope if its zod he gets doomsday out from the hole and they can wreck havok together. we just need more doomsday. but if its zod they are really going to need to explain why he was part of the orb and what he has to do with kandor.

They've explained less with more significant things, so I don't have any such expectations anymore.
Having Zod & Doomsday team up would definitely increase the chances on getting the Eradicator, but then again Doomsday hates Kryptonians and would kill Zod without a 2nd thought. Doomsday now is free from Davis, and the pure beast is an indirect clone of a beast that lived long ago (since that beast was cloned 100's of times). The beast has no relation to Zod. Zod only used his DNA to wreak havoc on Earth.

Now the show is recyling storylines. I don't know if I'll be able to watch Season 9. I'm tired of Clark's neverending supply of angst. If they want to do more Smallville, than just make Clark Superman.

I agree. Or make him stay as the Blur for a while without the angst and have him deal with various issues that he will need to learn to deal with before he becomes Superman.

1. Jimmy that dies was Henry James Olsen, and not James Bartholomew Olsen, the one Jimmy who's alive when Superman's around and the one that we thought Aaron Ashmore was playing all along. Great revealing, I think. They fooled us all.
2. Why should the character at the end of the episode be Zod. Brainiac was screaming 'Zod' all the time, yet he was only the little middle-man... I think we'll be introduced to yet another interesting character. If not, no worries, Zod is ultra-cool ;)
3. The Orb will probably be used a lot more in S9, because that's where hundreds of Kryptonians are. CK saying that Clark Kent is dead, should point out his Kryptonian 'self', and maybe make a strong connection between him and fellow Kryptonians who are yet to arrive.
If you ask me, awesome cliffhangers, and even better episode.
The more I see everyone dislikes it, the more I like it xD

I am looking forward to seeing Zod because now we can see how much Clark has grown since their last encounter. Last time we saw him he really beat up Clark easily and felt superior to him because Clark was defenseless.
This time around Clark can show him just how worthy an opponent he really is and that Zod is not facing the same boy he did 3 years ago.

You can put whatever spin you want on it, but the fact still remains it was super LAME!
I mean give us a break...two brothers both named Jimmy? I just don't get, how unimaginative were his parents?
Sorry, but it just reeks of stupidity to me.

I think he's Erradicator, perhaps sended by Zod, or maybe, thinking he's Zod!
In comics Erradicator comes after the fight between Superman and Doomsday, and his story is very "compatible" with the orb.
Read the "reign of supermen" theory in the theories/speculation part of the forum. I think is very clever!!

I completely forgot about the spoiler that said we were going to see the return of a familiar face until today. I guess the familiar face that returned was Zod? I'm somewhat excited to see his return as a possible major villain but I was hoping for an actual face and character who we haven't seen for sometime but I guess it's just another disappointment from the finale.

I think they were talking about Bart. Last time we've seen him was in season 6. Or SW as Zod. AT this point, I don't care, my expectations about s9 are quite low.
Unless they decide to bring back Clark kent, the hero. I'd like to see him more often.

Every hero needs to walk down into his or somebody elses dark path before they can become a hero again. I thought that this Season was gonna be Clarks walk down that path, but it seems his walk is not done yet. After that, I hope the show starts to get better.

Unless the it's a verbal smack down I doubt we'll see them fight.
It's Smallville we're talking about, the fights are not what would you call...epic.

maybe in the next superman reboot (after this one inevitably dies of flop syndrome) someone else besides Lex and Zod will be the main villain.
