View Full Version : Why did Clark say he didn't save anyone after the explosion?

He told Chloe he couldn't save anyone after the explosion and he didn't know how he survived the blast. They were all at the funeral.
At the funeral, they tried to make it look like Oliver and Clark saw each other but they didn't. I just watched it and Oliver's was crying with dark glasses on.
Clark is dead and he doesn't know it. Chloe can still see him for some reason.

Clark isn't dead, he's broken, there's not much of a difference when a man loses their humanity. He is like a ghost and no one recognises him, the walking dead without hope. Listen to what he says, he was looking for Lois, but he believes she is dead because of the phone booth where he was supposed to meet her. The apparition demeanor is symbolic of his humanity being dead, he is dead inside, it's symbolism. He said he didn't save anyone, the people he cared most about is what he is referring to I believe. He is the metaphorical death that the producers spoke of.

Who was he talking about? Were there people in the building (by the way, it was pretty lame they used practically the same footage from 6x11 - Justice for that explosion)? Nothing in this finale lived up the my expectations, which I don't think are unreasonable.

yea not to mention come on watch the doomsday movie "kal-el it seems human death isnt a possiblity for you...your body went into a hibernation where you re heart beats only once every 8 weeks" so clark cant die...hes just depressed and everybodies stressed at everybody else so theres not much convo going on anyway

I think he said he didn't save anyone because Jimmy died, Davis died (he really didn't/couldn't save him after all) and he couldn't find Lois (and presumes she is dead).
It was a very sad day for everyone in Smallville- I know we were expecting a bigger fight, but in light of the events that happened, Doomsday was as appropriate a title as any, IMO.

I was thinking that that was what the PTB were trying to tell us too...

Awesome take on this, I totally agree. Clark will go through an extended “dark night of the soul” in keeping with the hero’s journey but he’d better snap out of it in time to thwart Zod’s plans for global domination. Clark’s appearance at the end had an eerie Bruce Willis in the 6th Sense vibe, very well portrayed by TW.

A great response and I am interested in seeing how this plays out. I only hope it doesn't take Clark all season long to get over this emo kick he has now.

I sure hope all of the confusing events of last night's finale will be further explained come the Season 9 Premiere.

It's hard to say if Chloe is a Ghost Whisperer or not. I would say Clark wasn't dead but the way he dissappeared at the end of the Chloe/Clark scene makes me wonder
