Someone made this comparison on another forum, and I'd thought I'd post it here because it was pretty interesting:

It was Odyssey flipped on its head.

Odyssey-Clark came Home to Lois.
Doomsday-Lois is gone, Clark loses his home.

Odyssey-The JLA team up to find Clark and save him.
Doomsday-The JLA team up to betray Clark.

Odyssey-Chloe accepts Jimmy's proposal, starting a new life together.
Doomsday-Jimmy dies.

Odyssey-Clark embraces his new life and job at the Daily Planet, essentially his humanity.
Doomsday-Clark walks away from his own humanity.

Odyssey-Lois sneaks into the mansion to find information on where Chloe is, meets Tess, steals a zip drive.
Doomsday-Tess accuses Lois of stealing the orb from her, they get into a fight.

Now, Odyssey was about 100 times better than Doomsday, but there were direct and obvious connections.

Wow now that is a pretty interesting comparison. They do seem to rival one another's themes.I would have to say that Doomsday was far better than Odyssey. It was much more exciting and enjoyable.

Well I wonder if the producers real reason for brining on the JLA this episode was to try and hide bad writing. If that was their idea it didn't work for me.

TOTALLY regression, ack! I hated that they had to go there. Clark was FINALLY headed in what seemed to be the ultimate heroic direction, but he's like a Kryptonian pendulum, and he's swinging back toward uncertainty, self-doubt, and self-pity again, which really irks me. I can understand why they're doing it, story-wise, since they have a whole other season now to build on what just happened and bring Clark back up to where he was, but it's still aggravating to true Superman fans. That is a very interesting comparison, though, Ella. Thanks for sharing!

Season 7's finale was wayyyyy better than this last season finale. It really seemed to create a state of suspense, of "OMG, I have to see what happens, of how this will work itself out". But now....just a state of ho-hum and dissappointment. The whole season had been building up to a DD - CK showdown, and in the end it just fizzled, no pop. Plus, the killing off of Jimmy and Davis...what a lost shot in the dark.
