View Full Version : They killed the mythos! Will they be resurrected next season?
Do you find it fitting that in a world without Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane, Clark Kent metaphorically ceases to exist? Discuss!
My own opinion is that this finale was amazing. It killed the mythos! They killed Lane, Kent and Olsen in one form or another. And my bet is the premiere will deal with bringing them back. I feel that Lois will come back somehow and bring back Jimmy (changing certain events) and then through the course of season 9, Clark will be resurrected afterward.
I also found it clever that the comic book "Death of Superman" made the result of the Doomsday battle equal the death of the hero and in Smallville's version what died as a result of that battle was Clark Kent. It was a nice switch. I just really enjoyed the metaphorical value of the entire story. I loved Jimmy's arc. It was so beautiful and I don't think he'll be permanently gone. Just my own thoughts...
clark didn't die did he he just vanished haha' lane didn't die she got traveled back in time or w/e she wanted to go, and jimmy well i don't think hes dead just because jimmy does not die in the comics

I think the comic book Jimmy is the little brother, Lois will come back from the future, and Clark will learn that he has to balance his Kryptonian heritage with the human way he was raised.
clark didn't die did he he just vanished haha
That is why I said in one form or another. Obviously, Lois Lane is alive as well, just traveling in time somewhere (future, past, who knows) and Clark Kent is dead but Kal-El is alive and hopefully we'll see him resurrected next season.

i loved the jimmy character and rip but i hope not,i meant they alluded that jimmys brother would become the iconic jimmy...because doesnt all the guys in jimmys family have the same name...james olsen, not to mention giving the kid 10 years gives the mythos a good timeline bc clark and jimmy arent supposed to be the same age at the planet...as for lois, idk where she went, whenever she was thinking about at that moment...my question is how tess got the ring that clark just got a few days earlier...

I think there's little point in complaining about the mythos being "killed." The mythos was killed in season one, episode one. Consider Smallville being to the accepted Superman canon as the new Star Trek movie is to the original series/movies: An alternate timeline/universe/whatever. DC comics came right out and said that Smallville is considered an "Elseworld" to the Superman canon, so don't worry about it. They're trying out different things. It's like the "Ultimates" version of Marvel's series.

Jimmy's death explains why the Legion had heard of Jimmy Olsen and not Chloe.
They weren't talking about the same Jimmy Olsen.

They actually fixed the mythos. Now Jimmy Olsen is younger than Lois and Clark, Clark will finally embrace his Kryptonian side and Rao knows what they are planning with Lois.

Jimmy from the comics is the younger brother at the funeral

Actually i thought that was the only cleaver thing about the episode LOL.. As soon as they said Henry James Olsen at the funeral i knew what was about to happen. Although its wierd how a brother came out of the blue and didn't go to his wedding or anything.

Who's complaining?
Read my post again. I said I thought the finale was *amazing* and I also was speaking in metaphorical terms about the mythos being killed. It looks like that happens, but obviously Clark Kent will be back and so will Lois Lane. Hence the mythos aren't dead.

However Lois traveling through makes none of this solid and etched in stone. Still clever of the Jimmy switch-aroo!

Don't get me wrong, I think that the Jimmy thing is gonna make more sense now, but why bring him at all? That's my question. If they wanted someone for Chloe, then find some random guy and name him Bill or something.

and you know not only that but they ended the ddomsday storyline in a way that lines up with the mythos rokk told clark that nothing on this earth could stop doomsday from killing him and nothing will clark just delayed that until much later when doomsday finally does kill him

I don't think so, because Chloe is now on the Watchtower and secondary to what will happen next to Clark.

They could have done this so much better. I would have created a situation where Doomsday wounded Jimmy. Then I would have Jimmy fall into water or something in a way that looks like he dies but doesn't actually show his death. They could still do the funeral and everything. BUT earlier I would have had Jimmy discover the Legion ring intead of Lois. After falling Jimmy would somehow activate the ring and end up in the future where Clark is already Superman. This would fix the age thing and give us the whole Jimmy death scenario. I like the idea of Clark Kent mysteriously dissapearing after feeling tremendous guilt. That way next season he can find redemption and when he returns, he can create his mild mannered persona.

Yep, now Doomsday is buried, just like when he appeared in the first place.

I don't think so, because Chloe is now on the Watchtower and secondary to what will happen next to Clark. That makes little sense, and I was refering to Tess. But now that you mention it, just a matter of time with latter, nothing is solid, nor resolved at this point.

If they wanted someone for Chloe i still think they should of brought in George from the episode Apocolypes. But they don't want that i guess. God forbid Chloe be happy LOL

Exactly. They still have one more season.

Or Doomsday gets free by himself, in the future, just like in the Death of Superman comic.

That wasn't even close to the Persephone story... what is wrong with these people? Is Wikiepidea really that hard to use to check these things?

actually, i believe davis did have the legend correct. it is true that Persephone was tricked into staying with Hades for 6 months out of a year, but slowly she fell in love with him and even after her mother canceled the deal, she chose to stay with him.
