It was pretty limited. Rokk had more worthwhile time than that.

thats pretty much how it went down in the comic though. the justice league showed up, and didn't stand a chance... they got laid out and some just about killed. My comment is... why can't clark at least get ONE punch in during the fight? he gets laid out himself, and jumps his way out of the fight. i know budget cuts are the deal. but come on. he got more licks in against Titan from "combat," an episode basically still getting him over pa kents death, than he did against his Mortal enemy doomsday in a season finale, for goodness sake.

He never even used his speed this episode. It would have made more sense to have Aquaman or Cyborg in his place because they're both a lot stronger.

For some reason the PTB like to make it seem that Kal-El is weak in the Season Finales, and then in the Season Premires have him take out his enemys in just a few hits. What gives guys?

I think the budget is a concern, and a legitimate one at that. However, there's also the same situation that various "Superman" writers have found themselves in for decades: creating a worthwhile story around a character who's pretty close to all-powerful. Let's face it: if such a hero indeed existed in today's world, everyone would basically be asking the same questions: Why do people die? Why do bad things happen to good people? Where is this hero when we need him?

This is one of the biggest reasons (among others) why writers have had great difficulty with Superman. Tom Mankiewicz (unofficial screenwriter and "creative consultant" for the first two Reeve films) solved this with Jor-El's warning to his son: "It is forbidden for you to interfere in human history." This basically takes some of the pressure off, in that humanity has to solve some problems for themselves, and call for the hero only when needed. It's a theme further explored in the 2001 extended cut of the first film, where Jor-El gives Superman a brief lesson on the virtues of morality, responsibility, and general wisdom.

This JL really sucks! They're all powerless...

Even though he didn't used his speed, I still think it was awesome they had him in the episode :D

We didn't get to see the Justice League pretty much do anything this entire season. One single episode of season seven or older probably had more special effects then the entire season eight.

That's not true. Dinah has her "canary scream", while Bart is a speedster. Oliver may be mortal, but his proficiency with martial arts and trick-shooting is an effective combo. They aren't powerless; they just encountered a "bigger fish" in the Smallville pond.

Again, how much does it cost to have Tom Welling throw a couple haymakers at a dude in a rubber suit? How much would it cost to have one of them do a body slam on the other. All we're talking is the cost of film (if it's even shot on film) and electricity for the lights.
