I just got to say that I thought Clark shined in this episode. I felt like once again I was seeing Superman in action without the suit. The way Clark stuck up for his beliefs and how he was willing to find a better solution then going the easy route and simply killing Davis.
Clark was smart, he was caring, and he was well..awesome.
This is superman folks. He doesn't kill..he finds solutions to prevent from having to go that route, and here like he did in Legion, showed that he's capable of finding those solutions..unfortunately for him however, people like Tess and Oliver would disagree.
I'm curious to hear Badtoad's thoughts on Clark's actions as well..lol

What was also important is that once again he was willing to save someone even without his powers. In the past he has taken bullets for Chloe and Lois. But it was surprising to see him go to the mansion without his powers to save Tess of all people. That for me was the best example of how Supermanly he was.

ITA..and who could forget on how he stopped Oliver from nearly killing parasite with that pool ball..even after how Parasite had man handled him earlier.

Clark Kent was amazing! He was so full of conviction - it was a joy to watch him plan out what he was going to do... of course, everyone keeps trying to thwart him off of his track, thinking that they've got the better plan and that if he'd only do what they tell him to the world would be safe again. I like that Clark was standing his ground this time, though. He won't say it (I wish he would), but he knows that killing Doomsday is not the answer, because he'd never really kill him. The phantom zone is the right place for him, and sure, to appease Chloe he is going to try using black kryptonite - the authorities can handle Davis once the split has been made - but I think Clark's plan would work if Tess, for example hadn't destroyed the crystal... and the job surely would have been easier if Tess hadn't blown Davis up nor if Chloe hadn't drowned him in green-k.
I am so anxious for next week's episode. I think it is going to be one of Smallville's finest moments.

Hey, thanks, I'm flattered. :D I do love My Clark!
I wasn't too thrilled by this episode overall. But Clark was great. I think if I was appreciating the whole storyline a bit more, I would be more enthusiastic over the Clark stuff here, but I'm feeling a bit burned out by it. Still, aside from a few lines here and there, I thought Clark was fantastic, heroic, caring, and pretty smart and proactive. I totally understand why he told Oliver what he wanted to hear, and frankly his mistrust of Oliver is more then warranted. I also really enjoy the Clark/Tess scenes, even though she's sort of crazy.
So, it was a good Clark episode overall. I just don't think the episode was that good overall, unfortunately. And pretty much everyone but Clark is sort of annoying me lately.

Yeah, if anything this episode made Clark shine, as oposed the last week's. I totally saw Superman in it. I think we're seeing it more and more. It's just getting us ready for the finale.

Clark was really great in this episode. It was wonderfull to see him act on his own accord, not discussing every step with Chloe. That's what I loved most about this episode - Clark making his very own decisions.
Now Clark seems to be in a place where he cannot trust anyone anymore (maybe apart from Lois but she doesn't know his secret yet). If they keep it this way till the beginning of the next season, which I hope they will, it could give us more independent Clark action. And I keep my fingers crossed for that to happen!

just making his own decisions and acting on what he thinks is right is good, he is learning from his mistakes and just taking more control of situations

Yeah I totally thought Clark was very superman-like in this episode. I wish he was like this in all of the episodes really, or at least close to it anyways.

Okay. What does PWN'D mean? I have been trying to understand for weeks what that means, but I just don't get it. Is it just another way of saying Punked?

No, it's the same as saying owned. Except that it sounds cooler.

Oh. I guess I was off.
Thanks for filling me in. I don't understand what the P is for, but I am so relieved to understand what's going on now.
Thanks again! :)

I agree, I think he has been acting very Supermanly in these past episodes and this one was a great example of it. He is always willing to risk his life to save others and the world, and I truly believe he will take the same path in Doomsday even knowing he will die as Rokk tells him

Ya man tess and Chloe so eager to Clark kill Doomsday and follow his destiny, yet they r both making things harder for him, Green Arrow/Oliver will probably be the same if he tries to kill Davis, they don't know he becomes stronger, they r just pushing Clark to have to fight this unbeatable creature and making it harder for Clark

One thing I especially loved is that he really acknowledge this time that he and Oliver are to be the positive examples for people to learn by and that he knows that by killing a villain, it wouldn't make them different from them then.

Yes he stood up to Oliver's rants to kill kill kill but he will have to find a way have unearthly Villians inadvertently fall on sword so to speak or explode into a million pieces.

All this episode proved about Clark is that he'd a BDA and that Ollie could kick the crap out of him very easily if he wanted to.
Seriously, you realize that Superman has killed before right? In his second appearance no less?
He looks for all other options first, but when there is no other he'll take life, even though the guilt will tear him apart. Clark was acting like Superman in the last episode before he deferred to Chloe's crappy logic. He had a well thought out plan to end the incident with no bloodshed and lock Doomy away forever. In this episode he was casually punked and not smart enough to bring Kryptonite with him even though it's worked on people who stole his powers before.
I'm sorry, but Superman is intelligent, resouceful, and competent even without his powers. Clark was not.

Clark didn't have time to get kryptonite, he was in a hurry to safe Tess' life.
Superman has killed, true. But as far as I remember it always sort of happened in the process of the battle. It wasn't like he set out with the aim to kill. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thus, I don't think these decisions make Clark any less Supermanly

indeed. the only ones that Clark/superman would consider killing would be Doomsday (the monster itself), Brainiac, or even Darkseid perhaps.
since with Doomsday: there's no chance of reasoning with it
with Brainiac: he's just a robot who wants nothing but to destroy life and gain its knowledge
and with Darkseid: Again no reasoning with him.

He killed alternate versions of Zod, Ursa and Non with Kryptonite. They swore to come to Earth and destroy it, so he executed them. It sent him into a shame spiral afterwards so bad that he actually left Earth because of it for a while, but he did what needed to be done.
He slew Doomsday after it had already shown signs of being sentient (speaking english in a matter of hours and comphrehending it).
The Golden Age Superman regularly killed, from breaking off wings of planes and watching them fall to choking gangsters with their own tommy guns.
Clark could have swung by his barn and got a chunk of Green K. It wouldn't added what? Two minutes to his trip?

I believe that SV's Clark is not inspired by the Golden age, but rather by the John Bryne revamp.

Who executed three Kryptonians after he had already stripped them of their powers.

I agree that this was Clark acting Superman like and it was great to see! I was practically straining to hear John Williams' score in the background!
