Tom directed Hydro, not Labyrinth... :\

Aw, damn! I always thought he did Labyrinth.
If a mod can fix that mistake, I would be very grateful since I don't have access to edit the options.

Before seeing Injustice, I'd say Apocalypse is currently the best even though Clark's whining & refusal to act until Jor-El placed him in the alternate Earth really bothered me. Besides that & the time travel that gave us Doomsday on Earth this season (I'm very much against time travel in Smallville), the rest of the episode was great.

apocalypse was good at the beginning than in the middle it seemed extremely rushed, its a shame that TW has had to direct sub-par episodes hopefully Injustice is good

It's strange but I also had the impression he directed Labyrinth, though imdb.com says otherwise. I thought I saw him in the credits in the beginning of Labyrinth as the director... Strange...

Obviously, I like this thread´s question. But I would like to remind all voters to keep the difference between writing and directing in mind: even a crappy story can be directed well, and conversely. I just feel I should say this because I´ve seen many similar threads in which the story is confused with the directing by some posters. ;)

Does nobody like Fragile? It is one of my personal favourites out all 8 seasons of SV. Maybe I'm weird. Hydro and Apocalypse were fun and I really enjoyed them, but Fragile is still my favourite TW-directed episode.
I'm expecting Injustice to be really really good though....:D

Oh my god, I forgot that Tom directed this episode. I'm sorry Tom, but I hated the story. The directing was fine, but the story was just so boring and flat.
My favorite ep of the bunch here is Apocalypse. That episode felt like I was watching a feature film or something. It was incredible!:cool:

I liked this one. It showed a lot of intelligence with camera views and the subtext behind them....though, he really over-used the moving camera shots. I felt like I was gonna throw up a lot from motion sickness.
--It was good considering the budget. And, a lot of special effects were used relative to other episodes---they were all very similar with "colorful energy", but at least it's something.
Apocalypse was better in my view. This episode was very good though. He was especially cautious of how he portrayed Clark--very Superman-esque in movement, stance, voice, etc.
Apocalypse for sure the direction in that one was amazing.I love the scene where Clark catches Lois,that scene always comes to mind when I think of that episode.I really loved what he did with that one.

I kinda think that Injustice was pretty close to Apocalypse as far as Tom's directing goes. I think the camera angles and lighting and even the wardrobe was really on tonite. Granted the story line was a little confusing throughout, I definately liked the use of the movement of the camera to make scenes more dramatic. I'm all for Tom dirrecting more episodes. Everyone he has done has been well executed. Great Job TOM!!

It's so funny how the episodes have some what of a different feel/vibe when one of the cast directs them. :)

Directing-wise, this episode was definitely tense and dark, as it should've been...but something just felt a little rushed about the whole deal. As it stands, "Apocalypse" is still my fave, with "Fragile" as a close second. This gets 3rd place, and "Hydro" brings up the rear with 4th.

This was good, but the events of this episode should have started last episode instead of the garbage we got and spread out into this episode so we could actually see Clark's plan involving the black-k & black crystal being executed. This episode had too much going on & too little time to focus on everything.
I'll have to stick with Apocalypse.

Injustice, for sure.
1. Hydro - the Linda Lake smack down can't be beat.
2. Apocalypse a very close second. Actually kind of a toss up.
3. Fragile
4. Injustice
I liked Injustice but a lot of the scenes were too dark. And too many close ups, especially on Tess and Oliver. And IDK, I don't think the script he had to work with was all that good either. Loved Emil though.

I agree. That was my one problem with the directing. I think there should have been less close-ups. I especially wanted them to pull back in the Clark/Oliver scene after Clark told Ollie off so that it would make Ollie look more alone/broken.

apocalypse
over all this episode was just a waste after last week which was mediocre and the week before which was pretty good, this episode was just a dissapointment. Tome did a good directing job, but the writing and some of the performances just didn't hit it for me.

"Injustice", "Apocalypse" a VERY, VERY, VERY CLOSE second, PRETTY CLOSE third "Hydro", fourth "Fragile" (I did like pretty much "Fragile").
I'll put it this way:
"Injustice": 10.00
"Apocalypse": 9.95
"Hydro": 9.00
"Fragile": 8.50
I just LOVE Tom Welling directed episodes. :D

I liked Hydro.
I liked Clark and Tess int his episode but I really hated the acting of the members of the IL. And the dialogue was so bad that I don't think the best director could fix it. I didn't like this episode at all.

Apocalypse but Injustice was a close 2nd.... Hydro was good too except for the whole Linda Lake arc... she was just annoying....

I tried to separate the directing from the story.
I thought "Injustice" was the best directed. Very intense and dark, but that's the story. He did a great job with it.
Of the four story-wise, "Hydro" gets the most rewatches from me.

although technically speaking he a good job on tonights episode, my main problem with it was that it felt like a totally different show, it didn't have that smallville feel to it, also it was kinda confusing and some of the characters were acting strange - out of character (and of course I'm NOT talking about "chloe" since she was Ava) - overall it was good - it just felt disjointed from the rest of the series.

I find the directing hard to compare. You can only do so much with the script your handed. I feel he's given us 4 efforts for what he was handed.

Apocalypse was just a classic episode but Injustice is a close second. But that had nothing to do with his directing. I don't know what the writers were thinking when they decided to kill Livewire they do know she exists in the comics right and it wouldn't hurt anyone to have more interactions from the Injustice League.

I enjoyed Injustice but it wasn't a patch on Apocalypse
I loved Tom's directing in every of these episodes. And I think he is getting better as a director with each a new episode. It's hard to choose which of these episodes he directed best. They are different. I have to say, when I first time saw Injustice I wasn't sure if I liked his directing so much as in the other three episodes. Injustice was very dark episode and I wasn't sure if I liked it. After re-watching this episode I can say - YES - I love Tom's directing there and I think he did an excellent job with it. Kudos Tom!

Either Apocolypse or this one, but I voted for this one. It had a good fast pace and I liked that. While at the same time it didn't go too fast, you could still follow everything that was going on. That's good directing...

Fragile received my vote. I have really enjoyed Tom's directing. I could tell he really wanted to feel like he wanted to add more to Smallville and felt that he had what it takes behind the camera as well as in front. The reason why Fragile is my favorite is because it hit close to home. At the time I was a single father and when Clark tells Maddie that anyone can be a father but it takes a special person to be a Dad, it got to me. Aside from the whole mental powers over glass thing, a person could relate to the story that was told.

Injustice was nothing compared to Apocolypse
Injustice to me was a really bad episode but more due to the writing. Tom did great with what he had to work with and ee was the best actor on the show during this episode. I think this episode would have failed emensly if Tom hadn't directed it.

It was Apocalypse until I saw Injustice...the problem with Apocalypse is that I didnt really like it when he when to Krypton, and it didnt make sense what the heck happened to Kara. Im still confused about that!

I just had to add on here my props to Tom Welling for this episode. He gets better at directing with each new endeavor. I am a photographer and I have to say that in my opinion TW has an eye for angles, layers, and composition with his shots. He has managed to capture some really different angles of view in this episode that are so cinematic. Good job!
