View Full Version : Chuck-Fu . . . how the new intersect works

I found this quote from Zach himself posted in an interview:
"Chuck now has the new version of the Intersect in his head and not only does that one allow him to flash on information, it also allows him to get physical powers and techniques," he explains. "Like he might need kung fu for an assignment and then he uses it and it goes away. The powers are fleeting. That would be the third season."
Guess my assumption was right . . . personally I'm glad he won't be able to keep the abilities long term, he'd lose his identifiability as a character

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Although they have to use this ability to acquire to get special techniques very carefully. We wouldn't want Chuck to be the deus ex machina, saving everyone with ease at the end of each episode.

Thank god, I mean he won't be Chuck but he will be at the same time.

I think it's true that there is the risk of Chuck becoming too skilled and too powerful. Just like Clark has (that ever irritating and always inconveniently placed) Kryptonite, Chuck must also have his own sort of Kryptonite that will keep his new powers in check.
I'm thinking unpredictability will be the new Intersect's flaw.

He could get a number of abilities including the ability to shoot from miles away like Wanted.

I've been thinking about this and they could really go a couple different ways with this.
They could have the Intersect give Chuck a special skill, and then Team Chuck is left to figure out how that skill would be helpful in that situation. Like he would be at the knife tip of a bad guy and the Intersect would give him the ability to build a bomb or something similarly unrelated.
The other option would be that the skills would be glitch, like in middle of Kung Fu it would glitch out and he would be left to finish the fight with his own Chuck devices, or in middle of piloting an aircraft he would forget how to fly. Or similarly funny might be, in middle of dinner, or a shower, his skills would glitch in and he couldn't control himself.
Another option would be that all his skills have a time limit, say two minutes. If the fight lasts longer than that, he's on his own.
What is clear from the interviews that I've seen is, that this new Intersect is not going to take away the essence of Chuck, and that he will still very much need Sarah and Casey.

Well personally, I think even though Chuck has these new techniques and abilities, he's still going to be very reluctant when it comes to using them, just like he is with guns. Chuck would rather solve problems without violence, so I think we are going to see a new side of him, but still see he same old self, trying to solve conflict with words and not violence!
