View Full Version : The Talon, a weird coffee house

Every time they shoot a scene at the Talon I ask myself the same thing: who owns that place? is it still open for business? Why are those decorative lights always on? Why the tenants that live in the upper floor apartment have free access to the coffee machine?
Serioulsy, I don't understand how that place works. Everyone can get in an out without a key, we never see costumers and the place is always clean and the coffee machine is always working even when the place is closed. There are things stored in the basement and yet no one noticed there is someone sleeping down there. Whoever runs that place is not very concerned about what is happining inside their store.

I think the Talon is a shape shifter. It only shows its basement door to Chloe. :P

Considering the basement door locks from the basement side.........it may have been a whorehouse at one time. Or maybe it still is.

I know, right? Every time I see that sign I go "Aaaaand it's been Super Mocha Mondays for roughly fourteen years." I think they should add a "Super Mocha Mondays" count to the KO on supermanhomepage.

SV probably doesn't have the budget to pay extras to play customers anymore.
It's sad because that used to be the major hangout for everyone. Brings back good memories of old school SV.

I guess the characters moved to more mature sets, like the ace of clubs. But that doesn't explain why Chloe uses the coffee machine in the middle of the night like she owns the place or why no one notices that there is a monster living in the basement.

I honestly think the Talon is no longer open for business except rarely. Last time we saw it in operation was in October. Tough economic times, no one likes to pay $4 for a cup of coffee in Kansas.

long story short:
Lex helped Lana buy the place way back when. Lex got married and his new wife caused trouble. Lana almost lost the Talon. Lex wrote contract so it could never happen again.
Lana has owned the Talon for years and I don't know if she collects rent. i don't see why she would.
my question is, who the heck runs the place? did Chloe or Lana hire someone to manage it? I thought it was funny that Chloe seemed to want Clark and Lois out of the appartment ASAP but Super Mocha Mondays are going strong. all those nice Smallville citizens drinking coffee right above a monster.

LOL, no kidding, cksidekick! That is a both hilarious and freaky thought. Maybe Lana still has loads of money left over from her marriage to Lex and has been using it to keep the Talon partially running, or at least to secure the property rights and allow Chloe to live there rent-free.

As far as the owner, it's Tess and Ollie now, since Tess inherited Lex's properties and is now running them jointly with Ollie. As for the manager...well I guess it's some unnamed Smallville resident (the last time we actually knew the identity of the manager was way back in S4/earlyS5 when Martha was running the place).
But yeah, it definitely is creepy that the Smallville residents are drinking coffee with Doomsday sitting one floor below them. Clearly, the Chloe/Doomsday situation has gotten so desperate that Chloe wasn't really thinking when she invited Davis to sleep in the basement.
Although now that they're out on the open road, the Talon customers are out of danger (for now).

This very topic was under discussion not long ago and we never arrived at an answer. I would love for them to slip something in the script about who owns the place now and what is going on with it.
But yeah considering so much that happened on SV in the early years took place at the Talon...
Idea: Maybe it belongs to Henry Small now?

due to these hard economic times, no one can afford their coffee out anymore. it's just unfortunate that the health inspector never found davis or his "mess" in the dumpster.
