I can honestly say that I have NEVER had this hard of a time choosing the answer to this weekly question. My hat goes to Justin...I thought he brought oliver to a whole new game. Tom/Aaron/Allison/Sam are all tied for second place.

God! This is so hard! I almost couldn't choose. Between SW, AA, TW and AM I have no clue! They were all spot on! And they all had very intense/dramatic scenes which I love. At the end, I gave it to SW. He stole the show!!!

Everyone did such a great job. The acting in this episode and in Eternal were top notch.

I love when they give AA more to do. He's a versatile actor and the Chimmy stuff was dragging him down. I'm not a big fan of Junkie Jimmy, but AA does a great job with him.

Ollie, I was less impressed with and he was my least favorite character of the episode, but JH is doing a nice job showing the shades of gray.

AM, she rocks everything and that last scene, the phone conversation, was heartbreaking. The look on her face when she got in the car, there's no questioning where her loyalties lie even if the dialogue is vague.

TW does such a great job with heroic Clark. And the hurt he showed when he realized Chloe had lied to him, the betrayal he felt when he thought she might have feelings for Davis. So leveled and complex. Excellent.

Sam Witwer, he got my vote. He was creepy and sympathetic. He scared the crud out of me. Best decision TPTB made casting him. He is so worth whatever they're paying him.

Actually in that scene, Justin did a kick ass job, IMO. I literally went, "OH!" like a dozen times. His words stung so hard they even burned ME! I thought it was really intense in a subtle way and JH did a wonderful, wonderful job. :)

:( i wouldnt say tom delivers flat and forced, i just think Clark Kent is a very 2-D character, he always does the right thing, as opposed to jimmy, who showed a side that was very well portrayed

They all did really well, so it's hard to choose.
Aaron's performance was really well done in this episode. He really has gotten better over the years.
But I had to ultimately choose Tom because he showed Clark's emotions in this episode so well, and he brought about very superman-ish vibe to him in this one. I think bringing so much presence in an episode that he's barely shown in was the thing that settled the deal.

Yes, Allison did the best job tonight. Aaron Ashmore also was incredible as Jimmy, followed by Justin as Oliver, then Tom, and finally Sam. He had some good moments, too, but this episode really gave Allison, Aaron, and Justin the best chance to shine, in my opinion.

AA hands down for me! He wowed me in the scene with JH and SW while Jimmy and Ollie were tied in the basement.
The look on poor Jimmy's face when he realized that Davis was the 'Beast' that had ruined his life...his chance at happiness (or so he believed). I've never felt more sorry for Jimmy than in that moment. :(
But I was cheering him once again for standing up to and taunting Davis knowing the risk! You go Jimbo!!!:D

Overall, I think Allison Mack and Sam Witwer are the best actors on the show. But in tonight's episode, I think Sam, Aaron Ashmore and Allison out-shined everyone. As much as I love Tom Welling, it's obvious that Sam is the best male actor on the show. But in Tom's defense, his been very good this season and is a wonderful actor.

Like I've said before in another thread, I am biased and always vote for Tom. He always outshines the rest no matter how little he is on the screen. This time was no exception. He is just so GOOD!!! I just love him so much! But I do have to say that Allison did an excellent job of eating up the rest of the time with Davis. She is a great actress and I really believe that she did a wonderful job. I also give a standing ovation to Justin HArtley and to Aaron Ashmore. Both of them were awesome.

I think Aaron has always been very good but never really been allowed to show his potential on the show and while I'm not a fan of Jimmy's current arc, Aaron's been able to showcase his talent and has been a pleasure to watch.

As always, I thought Allison was brilliant. She had me crying in the last scene and I love the range of emotions she can show so easily. It's pretty special. Tom too was brilliant and there were so many points during the episode that he made me just want to hug Clark.

SW does creepy very well. Very well indeed and he was on top of his game although I couldn't watch the eyeball scene it was gross. Both him and Aaron played it very well though.

I agree with you. They limited both Jimmy as a character and Aaron as an actor when they shoehorned Jimmy to play the love interest. Episodes like Identity and Beast prove this.

Aaron Ashmore. The guy was amazing; in fact the guy has been phenomenal lately. Didn't know he had it in him! This season he's gone from mild and kinda wimpy to intense and angry, and made the transition utterly believable!

The scene between Davis, Ollie, and Jimmy was one of the best-acted I've ever seen on this show. Lots of raw anger, lots of cold threat, lots of despair and deep emotion. Couldn't believe it when Jimmy asked to be killed! He seemed so... tired of it all. A brilliant reading of his character.

Allison was a bit disappointing. I'm not sure she quite knows how to handle her character in this situation; sometimes she doesn't do the dark stuff all that well.

Tom was better than usual. Loved it when he crushed the (pink!) filing cabinet with his fist! He's great at the simple, straightforward emotions like anger and frustration.

Sam is excellent at cold-hearted and threatening. Also, he has a knack for sleazy and manipulative!

Justin is just so... cool. His character was the "reasonable guy" in this episode, the guy who stated the obvious when the others were off the tracks somewhere... usually a thankless job, but Justin made it shine. I loved the way he reacted when Davis concluded it was Ollie who had to die!

Before someone brings a bitter retort in response to your statement, Lori_Lemaris, I just want to say that I totally agree with you. Chloe Sullivan has been at the heart of Smallville since its beginning, and has become only more pivotal to the series over time, and that's due in large part to the incredible acting skills of Allison Mack. Regardless of what happens to the Chloe character, I will always hope that she survives AT LEAST until the series finale. I can't imagine what Smallville would be like without her. *prepares for a good talking-to about just how "great" that Smallville would be* :p
