The scene in the Talon basement showed what character Jimmy has. In the face of Doomsday (Davis) he held his own, he is no coward. Wonder why Chloe would choose Davis over Jimmy, especially after Davis destroyed their wedding?

Normally, I would pick Clark first, but I'm gonna go with Jimmy, Clark and then Oliver in this episode. I like Davis, but "HELLO" serial killer. As for Chloe...She proved that when Brainiac was removed so was her common sense. She should have let Clark send Davis to the PZ. If she didn't want him completely alone then she should have gone with him. At least there, IF he lost control he wouldn't endanger the whole earth...DUH....

The men in my family did not even want to watch this episode because of the lack of Clark. It is always that way when Clark is not the main story line. They are so tired of the female domination of this show.

SGuthrie27

Dr. Emil Hamilton should've been on there -- I would've chosen him if he was. I ended up voting for Clark. Here's my breakdown...

Clark in first place, because he was consistently trying to do the right thing. He stood up for Chloe's honor to everyone, even after he had just lied to his face and sent him on a wild goose chase in Alaska of all places. He held his own in conversations with Oliver, except the last one, where he didn't really seem to know what to say or think to combat Ollie's logic. He had a good plan, even if he didn't get to finish it, and he saved Oliver and Jimmy from Doomsday. Not bad for a day's work.

Second place would be Chloe. The last scene proved to me that she is continually willing to sacrifice herself and her own happiness to protect the people she cares about, and what Clark said is absolutely true -- she's all about giving people second chances. Did she make some poor choices and mistakes? Most definitely. But she's stuck in a horrible, traumatic, unthinkable situation that she doesn't know the best way out of, and she thinks she's doing what's right for the most noble of reasons. Only time will tell how her plan turns out.

Third place would be Ollie. He seemed too holier-than-thou for me, which he often does this season, and that irks me, but at least he helped Jimmy out and gave him the chance to work for him, which was cool, and turn his life around. Way to go, Ollie!

Fourth was Jimmy. I don't like the fact they made him a druggie, and he did seem just a wee bit suicidal in the way he kept taunting Davis like that. CRAZY! And stealing money from Chloe to keep his habit going was mega-not-cool. But he did warn Chloe and spoke somewhat civilly to her in spite of everything that happened.

Fifth place was Davis, because, after all, he's supposed to be the villain of the story this season, so obviously he'd be my least favorite character here. He's finally giving in to his darkest urges, and doesn't seem to care quite so much about any human life anymore, especially when Chloe's not around.

AA rocked his scenes. Extra proof that the Chimmy was soul killing. TW was totally on his game tonight. Loved all the emotions we saw on his face during the end phone call. I did vote for Chloe though, because of how nuanced a performance AM gave. She maintained this light layer of reserve around Davis, even when promising to do anything for him. The lack of emotion spoke volumes as to how much Chloe is sacrificing to keep Clark safe. Even stopping Clark from putting Davis in the PZ saved Clark from getting stuck there himself.

Clark. He was wonderful and vulnerarble; determined and confused - I loved it!

Oliver was fun to watch too, but I think it's time that Clark told him that killing Doomsday is not as easy as it sounds. Davis can regenerate and return invulnerable to the thing that killed him Oliver - stop trying to make Clark feel guilty for not wanting to kill! I do give Oliver points, however, for calling Chloe out on her decision making. I know that she loves Clark and really does want what's best for him, but really, how does she see this ending? Is there even an end in sight? ...and why does any of her plan have to involve lying to her best friend's face? If she didn't have feelings for Davis, she would have let Clark send him to the Phantom Zone. I just don't understand how Chloe's reaction to Davis now could be so different than that she had in "Infamous" - did Clark changing the past somehow make Davis love Chloe more or what? I'm just so confused.

Jimmy was fun too - I feel really bad for him. His life is a mess, and I'm so happy that reached out to him and helped him take that first step towards recovery.

Okay, yes... that was my long, convoluted - or quite simply, verbose - way of saying, I vote for Clark.

It was hard... but Davis didn't do a self righteous speech about why everything he was doing was not only acceptable but the best idea ever. Davis just seemed like a dupped dope who thinks Chloe is in lurv with him. Which really it seems like Chloe is in lurve with being a martyr ... I think it was Jimmy confronting him that made me hate Davis being in this episode slightly less... he was needed for Jimmy's therapy.

Clark...all the way. First he is on the ball. Everyone (well everyone who knew that "Davis" was the serial killer that wasn't Chole) thought "Davis" was dead. Not Clark. He is putting pieces of information together and coming to correct conclusions. He thought "Davis" was still alive and went out to prove it. He was the one that went to the grave and found more proof that Doomsday was alive. Second Clark came up with the best option available to him- put Doomsday in the Phantom Zone. Some place where he couldn't hurt or kill anyone. And it wasn't easy, he had to go and put things together so it could happen. Third he finds "Davis" takes him to the Fortress and was about to end the problem when...Chole messed it up. I really think Clark's inaction to Chole was just abject shock over what had happened. A true...WTFRACK just happened!? moment for Clark. And fourth the end conversation with Chole was amazing. I could really tell just how much they both carried for each other. When earlier Clark told Oliver that Chole would never choose "Davis" over her friends I thought what Clark really wanted to say was "Chole would never choose "Davis" over me." Also loved the scene in the Fortress when "Davis" said something to the effect that "if I'm going I'm taking you with me" and then came right at Clark. Clark's reaction...to go right at "Davis." Kind of reminded me of the Achilles/Hector fight scene in Troy. Great stuff.

OT but my least favorite character in this one was Oliver. I don't understand why almost every scene in the show has to be Oliver slamming Clark about not doing enough, or not making the hard decisions (which almost always seems code for...kill people) or etc, etc. Hey Oliver you been reading the news about the Red-Blue Blur? Hey Oliver...did you know that "Davis" was still alive? Hey Oliver did you even try and come up with another option than...kill the guy? It is just really getting out of hand how they are writing him. That's just not Green Arrow. But hey...JMHO.

Good ol' Oliver Queen.

Now, as a bonus (even though y'all didn't ask for it), why I didn't like the others:

Clark - nice detective work, but too blind to see Chloe's lying. Still in Denial that she served him one.
Davis - Selfish, chose too endanger the world and the woman he supposedly loves for an illusion of a "Happy" life
Jimmy - Still on drugs? Not cool dude. Though it does seem he may redeem himself.

And we come to one who shant' be named. Yeah, I'm pulling your leg.

I voted for Jimmy. I liked Clark in this episode but I guess the scene at the fortress ruined it for me. When I saw him stare passively as Chloe unplugged the portal to the PZ and accused him of being a coward for not wanting blood in his hands I was so disappointed of him. It's his fortress, and Davis is his problem not hers so he should have at least try to stop her. But he just stood there, staring. I know she has the power to control Doomsday, Davis went all weak when she showed up, but I hated that she lectured Clark like that in front of Davis and Clark didn't reply.

Clark being shocked I could buy - what was, IMO, worse was how Davis was trying to tough it up with Oliver and Jimmy... "You don't want to upset me.." "I'm going to have to kill one of you..." (to Oliver and Jimmy); and "Don't worry... you can't (hurt me)" to Clark... Then out of the portal comes Chloe, and Davis turns to putty. It's as if Chloe had him on a leash, and he obediently went with her with his head bent down in shame. It was the most random shift in character I have ever seen - and it was odd.

Dyanara

I didnt get the whole Davis knocking them out and bringing them to the basement. If he was in such danger of killing them why didnt he make sure they were not near him? Or did he do it just for a just in case meal to subside Doomsday?

SGuthrie27
05-03-2009, 07:52 PM
It may very well have been the latter, Dyanara. After all, we know how often Doomy the Carnivore gets his meat-cravings... Ewww... By the way, smallvillerocks45, wasn't there something said in "Eternal" about how Davis feels the way he does around Clark because he's meant to be his ultimate enemy and destroyer? So it makes sense that he got all "tough guy" and threatening on C.K. the moment he got him to the Fortress. And since Chloe is the only "cure" and her presence causes him to immediately revert back to regular Davis Bloome, it causes his "random shift in character" to perhaps seem maybe not QUITE so random. Just my two cents...

1. Clark

-He thought of a very thought through plan to end the threat without any bloodshed. He was about to end the threat forever before Chloe showed up and ruined everything, puting the whole planet back in danger in the process.

2. Ollie

-Also trying to come up with a permanent solution to the problem, saved Jimmy's life and gave him a second chance, was the only one to tell Chloe how stupid her plan is.

3. Jimmy

-I really felt for Jimmy in this episode, and he was able to put together the peices and figure out Davis was Doomsday. That's showing far more brainpower than Chloe has recently.

4. Davis

-Just putting someone else above Chloe.

5. Chloe

-Seriously, what the hell is she thinking? Clark had everything under control and was about to end the threat forever, until Chloe comes along and ruins it. The opening suggests she has feelings for Davis, making her really no different than the women that marry serial killers in prison and then help them escape. Worst of all, she uses Clark for an excuse.

SGuthrie27
05-03-2009, 08:20 PM
Y'know, by that same token, if CLARK had just waited a few seconds longer in "Infamous," he would've received Chloe's warning about Davis far earlier, and would've probably worked WITH Chloe to develop some solution of containing Doomsday/saving Davis without it ever coming to this.

--SGuthrie ><>' :)--

Yes. It is true that Clark brings out the worst in Davis whenever he's around him, but on that same token, when Chloe appeared in the FOS, his demeanor changed. So, either Chloe is the most powerful being on the Earth, or Davis is all show in front of the world ('Hey, I'm Mr. Tough Guy...You don't want to mess with me'; this attitude, by the way, wasn't just directed to Clark either) and is using Chloe's emotions ('Help me, save me Chloe') to build up his immunity and ultimately weaken Clark by taking his best friend away from him.

Sometimes, I think it's the latter. If there's anything this show has been overwhelmingly consistent about, it is the fact that Clark is incredibly attached to the people around him - his friends, his family - it would destroy him to lose the people he loves, and by taking Chloe away, Doomsday is making a huge statement.
