Season 1 5 years Strong Sylar shapeshifting ability

Do you think that this would have anything to do with Sylar in season 1 of the episode "5 Years Strong" where he was Nathan and had shape shifting abilities. I find that very fascinating that this seems similar.

It is definately similar on purpose. The main difference is that Sylar was using Candice's illusion ability to disguise himself in "Five Years Gone". Now he is actually shapeshifting.
