I see a lot of people wanting Chuck to come back for Season 3, and I definitely agree, it's been a solid performer and all that, but I admit... I've only seen the pilot, and when I did, I couldn't really get into it :(

But my question for you out there (since there do seem to be quite a few people posting here)... what episode would you recommend to someone who's never really seen Chuck, as a jumping-on episode?

hm pretty hard question because there are a lot of great episodes. just seeing the pilot and then just seeing a random episode might not make much sense. i think maybe atleast watch the first 3 or 4 episodes of the series so you can get to know the characters and who they are. the last 3 episodes of this season have been really good but dont think they should be watched as a starting point to the series since it felt like a series finale lol.

All of Season 2 has been out of this world good. Season 1 was good but strange, till the finale, then, um Craig I swear to you I love Smallville, But Chuck is the funnest show on TV. I never find myself cheering and laughing to any other show.

That is such a hard question, wow. Well, season 2 had some amazing episodes, actually.

I would agree with Josh, Chuck Vs. The Break-up was SOOO good. Great action and story.

I also would suggest:

Chuck Vs. the Cougars (Sarah-centric)

Chuck Vs. The Suburbs

Although a lot of the episodes have recurring ideas like FULCRUM... so it is hard to suggest just 1 episode. And I agree, I laugh nearly every episode. It is great. It's a show I cheer for. *nods*

I have to add that my favorite stand-alone type episode was Chuck vs Tom Sawyer.

But agree that you need to watch the first couple episodes to get a firm footing in the premise and characters.

I agree with the Chuck vs the Marlin also. I think watching the peta girl fight would make a fan out of anybody.

The last few episodes of S1 were great. They really got me hooked.

season 1

chcuk versus the alma mater
Chuck versus the truth
chuck versus the nemesis

These three are good choices. All deal directly with why Chuck is the way he is and also are really funny. Chuck vs. The Truth is hilarious.

Any episode from Season Two is good, I think.

Has there been a "bad" episode of Chuck?

It would be incredibly hard to pick an episode, but "Chuck Vs. The Suburbs" would be a great episode for random viewing.

i say watch these last 5 episode of this season. they were the best ones plus it seems like next season could be going into a new direction based on how this season ended.

If possible I would suggest starting with season one, if you start at the last few episodes you won't enjoy the buildup of the relationship(s) between the characters.

The way the series is written you get the roller coaster of emotions building up to why each character is important to Chuck as well as why Chuck is important to them.

Hey Craig,

I will agree with you, even I had a hard time getting into it. Now it's one of my favorite shows, in my top 3 favorites actually. Lost, Chuck, and Smallville. It's a really solid show, with wonderful writing. Honestly if it had been cancelled I would have been really bummed.

The first 3 episodes are good, however the show was still trying to gain it's footing. But it was really the fourth episode of Season 1 "Chuck versus The Wookie" that hooked me in. In that episode I really felt like the show gained it's footing and took off running.

However I have to echo many here and say that you really should watch all the episodes as you need the backstory. There are questions asked and answered in every episode that you will want to know. The 2nd episode, for example, addresses a question I had right away after watching the pilot. The best advice I can offer is watching it all in one sitting, after a while you won't want to turn it off, it's addicting.

Then you'll become a fellow Nerd Herder like us and our diabolical plan will be complete. Mwah ha ha ha ha.

I didn't watch the show in it's first season. I started watching the second season (first or second episode in) and fell in love with the show. Then I had to go back and watch all of season 1 on DVD. I can't wait for season 3!!!

I'll agree with people who suggested watching in season 2, maybe at the beginning like I did. It will leave you with a few things missing, but you get the gist of the program and can always go back and watch the first season on Hulu or DVD (I think Hulu has the first season).

I just recently got into Chuck. I found the second season to be much better than the first, but there were some great episodes in season 1 as well. I would watch every episode because the story is continuous. There aren't that many episodes anyway so it's not like you have to watch 5 seasons just to catch up

Yeah, season one is only 11 or 12 episodes due to the writers strike.

i really enjoyed Chuck vs Alma Mater just because we got to see the back story of Chuck and Bryce (and the fact that maybe he wasn't being a total douche-bryce that is)

I started watching from the first episode. But Season 2 might be a good starting point, after they have worked the bugs out of the writing. I'm really interested to see what happens in Season 3 *crosses fingers*
