So Lois kicks the guy across the whole room while falling through a window....I know it was supposed to be funny and over-the-top, but anyone find it too much??

I surpised we didn' have Jimmy, Lois, and Clark all prone on the floor and hurt.

Suspension of disbelief. Yeah, do a computer simulation on a person crashing through the glass roof like that and we'll probably have a bloody mess, but hey, we are in a comic book world here....enjoy ;)

Yeah that part was really a hard scene to buy into. At the time it aired I remember yelling oh come on at my TV.

Hey, this is Smallville, the home of an alien from another planet. Anything can happen and usually does. Stiletto rocks and gets my vote for saving Clark and Jimmy by kicking the bad guy across the room. Girl Power:)

Haha, that kick looked ridiculous. She was falling straight down, extended her leg, and he flies across the room. As to SNowbird, suspension of disbelief is an interesting phenomenon. In this case, I can accept, within the pretenses of the show, that there is an alien of beings that look human but have superpowers under a yellow sun. I can not accept that a regular woman, albeit with SOME combat skills, can defy all laws of physics.

She knew that if she didn't act quickly, Clark was going to be shot and killed. Adrenaline has a way of giving people the strength and ability to do things that they wouldn't be able to do under ordinary circumstances, such as lifting a car because someone is trapped underneath.

Lift a car, maybe, fly? Not so much.

Yeah she most likely would have fractured a bone somewhere in her legs or feet, it was way to much.

LMAO, I will admit I laughed a little when I saw that. I was like, "How Batman is that?!!"

Yeah, that part was a big thumbs down for me. Crashing through glass, falling straight down, kicks up and the guy goes flying across the room......

If this show continues to go in the direction its been going this season, we may see a surprise guest appearance by SpongeBob and Patrick.

I was definitely suspending a little belief to swallow that scene, but it's Smallville, you just roll with the punches....

I must have missed the part where she flew.

First of all; Lois kicks this guy before she lands and projectile drives him into the wall across the room? More importantly, Clark didn't dive until after the gun was fired. Lois was looking right at him. She had to see him superspeed. What's up with that? It seemed a bit over the top to me. It didn't seem well thought out. I liked the results but it was pretty hokey as I see it. I've watched it three times now and it's more weird every time I see it.

She didn't but the only way she could do what she did is if she flew.

Yep. I didn't like that particular moment at all and I was pretty upset rolling my eyes when it happened, like this:  But then Clark saved Lois and that part just faded from my memory and I was left like this:  and then like this: :o:o:o

*Claps*

I found the pep talk to herself before she jumped very realistic- and then the whole fall - kick ruined it. If anything, she should have fallen in a way that moved the Kryptonite counterfeit machine away from Clark so he could blur - save every one.

Although I did appreciate the show of solidarity- Jimmy, Lois, Clark- they all saved one another. It was heart warming.

First of all, u can kick someone when u fall from a great heighth. and as for clark. he really wasn't superspeeding. the scene was just in slow motion. there were no effects to indicate Clark was superspeeding

Are we seriously discussing realism on SV?

For the dozenth time, Clark didn't superspeed. The sequence was in slow motion and it looked odd because it was poorly filmed. Can we move on though?

The rescue scene was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. When Lois, while falling, kicked the guy ACROSS THE ROOM I busted out laughing. I know the show doesn't have to be realistic, but it doesn't have to be over-the-top corny either. It's like the writers don't even try sometimes. Why not just make Lois jump and land on the guy, knocking him unconscious and breaking her fall in the process. No, that would be WAY too logical. Instead they have her kick him in mid fall, send him flying across the room as if he was a blow-up doll (seriously, what the hell?), and have her miraculously land on her feet without so much as breaking a heel. Unbelievable.

I liked the falling through the glass part, but the kick was just way too much... but hey maybe she borrowed Lana's prometheus suit...who knows?

This is Smallville... the home of the meteor infected. A superkick falling through a window is nothing.

^I disagree. Lois Lane is just a human and falling through a window and in mid-air kick a guy so hard that he flies across the room... pretty awesome for a human being don't ya think? But then again, I guess we shouldn't bring in the laws of physics in a show based on a comic-book.

The writers seem to have a passion to turn the females into superheroes. Lana, Chloe and Lois are three tough girls for some reason.

Well, at least Lois was just as surprised as we were LOL. "Wow. It worked!" or something like that. I can't remember the exact quote.

I think it would have been better if she landed on the guy's shoulders, coushioning her fall and knocking him down at the same time. I call that lazy writing. They wanted her to have a spectacular entrance but instead they created an unbelievable situation.

But, as I stated in another thread, if a guy in the back room of Oliver's jet can hack into an unplugged router using wifi, then Lois can jump through a window more than 20 feet high, kick a goon as she falls and land on her feet without breaking her stilleto boots.

I always come to SV prepared to let things go because, hey... it's a comic book show.

But.. come on. There have to be some limits. I mean, she was falling, she stuck her foot out and the guy FLEW across the room. He didn't fall down in pain. He didn't back away a few feet. He FLEW! That was a bit much even for my high tolerance of stuff that defy the laws of physics.

Cushioning her fall, landing on the guy's shoulders would make some sense, but I think over the top was the point of this scene. It's over the top to see Lois don an outfit, fake that she's a vigilante (though she did a nice job anyway), and crash Batman-style through the roof with no history (as far as we have seen) of her athletic abilities (of course Lana-Fu came out of nowhere for the most part).

Probably the ONE real over-the-top part was Clark mentioning to Lois that he was going to leave because he had to feed Shelby!!! He DOES remember him, or her, or the cat, or bird, or whatever Shelby is this week???

I admit, I frown-grinned when I saw that part, but honestly, I can live with it. The show is based off a comic book, set in a universe where a "normal" human (Joker [who is, for all intents and purposes, "normal"]) can come back from the dead pretty much every single issue after dying for real this time. Then there's Batman, who's done some pretty ridiculous stuff. (I know he's had years of training, but then, one super-kick from a girl who was brought up as a military brat seems proportional to a lifetime of borderline-superhuman feats from a guy with years of professional training.)

Basically, whenever someone says some form of media is trying to make a comic book story more "realistic," I simply think to myself, "Yeah, just try." Was it a bit over-the-top? Of course. Unforgivable? I don't think so. These are comic book characters we're talking about; they're allowed to have adrenaline-related superhuman feats for the sake of the story. :p

As for Clark's dive, whether or not it was superspeed, I didn't mind it. If it was superspeed, well...I may not be an expert on Superman, but if the Kryptonite was spread out over all the bills rather than being in meteor rock form, I'd think Clark would retain enough energy to put in a bit of speed (because in any case, that was definitely not top speed for him.) As for Lois seeing him, I mean...you really think that part is going to stand out to her? (Especially if it's not top speed, as I mentioned before.)

But that's just me.

Also, when I saw that scene, I was reminded of "Arrow," when Ollie managed to launch that guy across the room with one of his arrows. Over-the-top, definitely, but again, it's a comic book show. What're ya gonna do?

This season has been about 'over the top scenes'. The Lana-fu was over the top. Tess kicking a man's head until his brain splashed her face was over the top, Chloe throwing Doomsday's leftovers was over the top, Jimmy's reaction in turbulence was over the top. I guess Lois is not the only victim of the bad writing here.

Did anyone notice that Bruno Mannheim ran stumbling into the wall AFTER Lois had already landed on the floor? What was that all about? Did he trip over Clark while trying to get away from Stiletto? :)

This post says it all for me. I  at some of the post on here that gripe about Smallville straying too far from the comics Then when we get a story that looks like it could come straight from a comic they cry foul because its too campy or over the top.
