View Full Version : Main point of Stiletto; LL and RBB are connected now

The main thing that I take away from this episode is that the Blur took the step of making contact with Lois and they are now phone pals. That's a huge step. I expect that we will see Lois sharing with Clark the conversation that he had with her over the phone not knowing it was CK. Think of it - this is major in my opinion - Lois will be telling Clark across the desk how much she has the hots for this person and why. Clark, will be sharing his intimate thoughts with her over the phone and her with him. She may even intimate to the Blur that she loves Clark. The possibilities are endless it would seem. She could tell the Blur how much she loves Clark and then the next morning tell Clark about her concerns for the Blur. It could be great drama, great comedy and great irony. I think I will like this if the writers handle it correctly. Eventually, Clark could slip up and say something that only the Blur should know and Lois will get the hint. I believe that this was a huge step tonight.

Good point. It definitely advanced the Clois relationship and that's good enough for me and I enjoyed it.

Yeah, they could've done that with the 1st scene.

Yup, that's a huge huge thing.
This is Clark's first real contact (outside of saving people, obviously) with anyone in his 'hero persona'. And to have it be with Lois is just the icing on the cake.

I found myself understanding why Lois is obessed with RBB...as she said...he is essentially so alone. And I am sure Lois herself feels that way a lot. So that explains her feeling of connectedness to RBB/Superman; guessing she feels a lot of empathy. It will be very interesting to watch her feelings of empathy/compassion grow for RBB and see what that does to her relationship with Clark...with whom she already believes she has very little in common....

I think this was a major step forward in terms of following the Superman mythology. I have been wondering how exactly they were going to get those two together and this was a really smooth transition. I also loved that they finally said that the name RBB sucks and they need to get something better.

This could be like that movie "You've got mail" where they fall in love over the internet or on the phone and they meet in a park. I suppose Clark will have to bring Shelby along to make the comparison work.

What's even more exciting to me is the possibilities that this opens up for S9. Durance is only in the finale I think this season so it will have no bearing on S8 but this opens up a whole array of plot lines that can be dramatic, comedic and/or ironic. This was a good move on the part of the writers imho.

It leaves me wondering why Clark did that. Perhaps it was because of the extreme lengths Lois went to posing as Stilleto to try and meet the Blur. Perhaps he thinks that by contacting her she will stop taking risks and in his mind he's doing this to protect her. On the other hand, the electricity between them in the office was amazing. Her buying him coffee and bear claws and the intense staring and appreciation when in fact they had actually saved each other. She wanted no credit for smashing through a skylight and dispatching to mob hoods and instead was quite taken by the fact that Clark risked his life to save hers.

It's frustrating that Erica is only in the season finale where more important stuff will be happening. It will have to be next season before we see the fruits of all of this.

Perhaps having been hot for the Green Arrow Lois finds it difficult to be interested in normal people.

The whole point of the episode was that little scene. Clark realized the lengths Lois will go to get that interview so he gave it to her. She told him she didn't want the story, she wanted to be his friend. I don't think this is the last of the RBB/Lois storyline.
I also don't think she'll mention it to Clark.... So it opens up the door of Clark being jealous of himself in the future episodes... something that is very much from the mythos.

I liked the fact that Clark as the RBB left it up to Lois to come up with a new name for him as he agreed that this one wasn't quite right and as we all rightly know its Lois that invents the name Superman so I thought it was a nice nod to that and possibly the fact that this Lois will still get to invent the title Superman in the future.

If I heard it correctly Clark slipped up when he was talking to her as the RBB...
He was saying how great a reporter she was and that she didn't need any gimmick or something like that which I believe he was referring to her stint as Stiletto.
Which only Clark, Chloe and Jimmy knew.

I re-watched it after reading this and you are right. I suppose he could be commenting on what he had read from Lois but you're right; how would he know about the Stilleto stuff being bogus.

I've watched the episode 3xs and to be honest, he's blurring all over the city and she knows the blur stopped that robbery (even though she doesn't know it was Clark) she could think he was just hanging around the scene and heard her with Clark. The only thing missing from this scene would have been after Clark/RBB told her that, for Lois to say something like "That's kinda what Clark said...." and maybe they could have nodded to the Superman movie and have the RBB counter with "Clark? Is that your boyfriend?" And Lois say something like "Not exactly..." or "No... Clark is... just a friend."
That would have opened the doors wide for a Lois/Clark/RBB triangle...

The triangle will be internal (in the story) because we as the viewers can see that it's Clark talking - it is the 1st time that the viewers have become intimate with CK and see him as the main character and not Superman - I for one think the writers did a great job on this developement - altho it did take a little long :rotfl:

No I don't agree. The RBB was already there to take care of the jewelry thug and is justifiable to have overheard the Clois conversation. Ok, that came out weird. Point is the RBB could superspeed all over and hear much if wanted to, so she shouldn't be suspicious that RBB knew she had been Stiletto.

I think that, given that RBB saved Lois twice in one episode ("Identity"), one of those saves being in her own home, Lois has a pretty good idea the RBB pays some sort of special attention to her...
So if I were Lois, that'd be my rationale as to how he knew about Stiletto.

I wonder if they'll work on this in the future, as in have more contact between Lois and the RBB, maybe have Clark take up her offer of just talking, off the record, or will this be forgotten as many many other things have been in the past? Since it's such a big part of Superman, I certainly hope they don't forget about it, as long as they keep it as it is, and don't go trying to make a Blurois ship or something.

Yes and this basically sums up my feelings on this episode and the whole triangle for two to come.
<O:p
I did initially think Lois's interests would simply be an infatuation for the hero. However, it stems much deeper. She genuinely empathises with him and see's him as this lonely figure that does so much good and never asks for anything back. It was very sweet. What we saw Lois offer the RBB tonight was friendship and I think is one of the reasons why Clark falls in love with her.
<O:p
I think if the writers continue to develop the relationship between Lois and the RBB and still maintain the sarcy and softer bond between Lois and Clark, then it will make for some real spellbinding television.<O:p

I've been wondering if they didn't bring up the issue with the awkwardness of the name Red/Blue Blur because we are soon going to see Lois rename him Superman. I would simply love that. Of course, that would be the ticket for Lois to get out of the office in the basement up into the executive suites and finally be the ace reporter. There's no reason why we shouldn't see that in S9. I think that's why she also mentioned that she's in the basement and has only an intern and is doubting her journalism skills. Maybe this is all going to come together early in S9. I hope so.

It was such a great scene because of all reasons you guye already mentioned in this thread and I totally loved it, too. And yes, LL and RBB are connected now but this also adds another *classic* dynamics into Clois relationship. = From now on, Clark can never have Lois without making her mad at one point. lol
He makes her believe that he and his alter ego as two different persons by lying, misleading, pretending… etc. Well, if you’re familiar with other incarnations of Clois, you know how what I mean. So I find this scene amusing because this is the point of no turning back for Clark. lol I just hope that SV version of Lois will take his future revelation in a reasonably good-natured manner. ;) Well, good luck to you, Clark!

Good points. The only thing I would add is that the writers of SV love to present the women as strong, tough, kick butt types and may not want to have a LL who is toyed with by Clark and deluded by his true identity. I'm thinking that this crowd will want to involve Lois in the adventures. Just a thought.

I'm not worried about that at all. Lois already understands about putting people in danger, she even says it to Clark. She will realize that the RBB was pretending to be a separate person to keep her safe. Not to mention it might be a load off her mind if she finds she's in love with both of them. Even Lana understood this, and she's no Lois.
I really liked that Clark did this phone meeting for Lois because of her obsession and worried she might do something as stupid as Stiletto again. He wanted to fulfill her need, and that was sweet. It shows he really cares for her.

Agreed. It seems he's already with Lois where he was for years with Lana. She's the one he wants but his desire to protect her outweighs his desire to .......well, you know. That will be part of the dynamic going into S9 and I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, I also hope SV version of Clois & Bliss (Blur/Lois) will take a different route. As long as writers won’t use each ship to pimp other (e.g. Lois openly tells Clark her infatuation towards Blur and vice versa), then I think it’ll be okay.
