View Full Version : Chimmy are divorced? Is this news?

Chloe said that "since my divorce"...........is that news or did that get covered and I missed it? I realized they had split up but to go from the altar (barn) to ending the marriage in between hospitalization is shabby writing as I see it. How can they keep both of them as main characters in S9 after this horrid turn of events?

Chloe doesn't need a divorce she can have the marriage annulled claiming non consomation. She and her husband haven't had sex since the ceremony. They aren't married.

Let's not forget that Jimmy is apparently a huge drug attic now and needs to work for thugs to get money for more drugs. Oh and Clark is going to regress back again next season according to the latest interview with the producers.

Regress back to what?
Yeah I was a bit surprised to hear that.I just thought they had a mutual seperation. But wow divorce, that just sucks.I really hate how they teared down both characters this season, along with their marriage.

Dinosaur? LOL beats me, they only hinted that there would be yet another tragic incident in Clark's life that he will again feel responsible for. That would be the "Regressive" moment. As long as Clark keeps blaming himself for everything bad that happens to other people, Clark will never be able to accept his destiny as Superman and realize that he can't save everyone!

Poor Jimmy every epp he's been in since and including Bride..........he gets beat up or he"s poping pills and now he"s divorsed. Next week he'll be hanging out at the bus station.

Yea I really thought they should have put more into that storyline. I was under the impression they were separated but not yet divorced. After all the time they spent building up their relationship and telling us it was forever, it ended without a second thought.

I'm sure the next episode he is in he will be getting his butt kicked by Doomsday. ;)

Thank God they've moved to divorce. Both Chloe and Jimmy are better characters without each other.
I would guess it's an annulment.

Yeah I was little shocked when she said she was divorced. It just happened so quick, probably an annulment. Poor Jimmy, he's buying pills from shady people PAYING for it with counterfeit money, I don't like the path he is heading down :(

Seriously, that was a stinkin' short marriage. It lasted at least a BIT longer than the Lexelen (is that what people call the Lex/Helen 'ship?) marriage, but not by much. I really am still not sure how I feel about it. Like many, I feel that Jimmy and Chloe tended to bring out the worst in each other rather than the best, but I still feel sorry for them, and that things went as completely sour as they did as fast as it happened.

Exactly! Way to give to the shaft to the Chimmy relationship and its fans! It would've been better without the buildup and the extreme let down following that build up.

Yeah it sucks. But now that it's final I feel set free in a way. It was really bothering me not knowing what their status is... especially with Chloe/Davis getting cozy. It's a relief to know. I felt shafted after "Turbulence." I'm feeling much healed.
There were a few Chimmy crumbs. I lapped them up.
ETA: I spoke to soon... after seeing the Beast trailer I do feel shafted. Not for Chimmy but certainly for Chloe.

is that a legally viable excuse? Marriage is weird

They didn't really put up much of a fight for the marriage. Oh well, they just aren't meant to be together and now they both are going down a very dark path with Chloe's being the darkest.
She literally had blood in her hands at the garbage scene and now Jimmy is hooked on painkillers and begging for advances..... They both have gone so downhill since they split in turbulence.

The worst part is Jimmy losing his wife to a lizard and especially after the lizard destroyed his wedding and ripped open his guts. Chloe won't even visit him in the hospital instead she is making reptilian goo goo eyes. This is not one of Smallville's greatest moments.

Just because Chloe wasn't at Jimmy's bedside every minute of every day doesn't mean she wasn't visiting him. She was leaving at the end of Legion to go see him, she mentioned in Bulletproof that she had to get back, meaning she had been to see him and came back to Metropolis to help Clark out, and Jimmy referred to her as Florence Nightingale in Turbulence, meaning she had been taking care of him while he was laid up.

OK so she'd visit her husband and then go make reptilian goo goo eyes. Either way it's not good.

I didn't like the marriage plotline, I felt that was taking the stupid too far. It's nice to see the writers continue to put this firmly behind them quickly.

Jimmy and sadness don't go together, whether it's the George Reeves TV series, the Chris Reeve movies, Lois and Clark or Smallville it's out of character for Jimmy to be a drug addict and to be living a miserable life. He was always used for comedic relief but the writers of Smallville have to make sure that everyone gets knocked out and their lives in dark turmoil. It's a strange thing to me. Over the top imho.

I don't know. It's still clumsy. Perhaps as you say, the writers understand that they screwed up and are trying to find a way out. It's a disaster imho.

I didn't realize people wanted to see the nasty divorce? Arguing over who gets what and what goes where. I mean who really wants to see their meetings with the lawyers and accountants?
See them arguing over petty things and showing all the resentment they have held all these years and act like children....I liked that we skipped over it for more important plots of the season.
It may be poor writing to those who wanted to see all that but it's excellent writing for someone like me who doesn't care to see it!

It was poor writing to have them get married in the first place. It makes no sense. It sullied the character of Chloe. I have no respect for someone who does what she did. Loyalty is not one of her prime qualities. She does little else but give Clark grief and now she's hot over Davis, knowing that he's the one that almost killed her husband and is supposed to kill Clark. It doesn't work for me.

Chloe is definitely having a crisis. She is going to need some heavy therapy to get over all this. I forget why but there was a reason other then love that she decided to accept Jimmy's proposal. I think it was her moving on from her past? I don't remember.
Love makes you do crazy things, and Chloe is proving that lol.....I mean who in their right mind would have the hots for Davis? I am talking about knowing what he is and who he is and still loving him....I think Chloe is having a mental breakdown but some people on this site actually still love Davis despite all this...so is Chloe really that out there if there are some people who still agree with her? lol

The only problem is we don't know how much time has passed between Turbulence and Stiletto. It could have been anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months.

This is my point. Divorces can take a very, very long time to for things to be finalized.

It was poor writing, IA. It would have been better had Doomsday disrupted the day before the actual wedding took place. Then Jimmy and Chloe would never have gotten married and, therefore, no divorce. I hate divorce in any case... Just makes me sadder that it happened between Chloe and Jimmy...:(

Exactly. Why build that up, have them get married, only to tear it all down? No one looks good coming out of this. Jimmy, Chloe, and Davis are all messed up by this. And the divorce really was just sort of dropped into the script.

Yeah, this really hurt Davis' image. I can imagine the writers sitting around saying "let's have Chloe marry Jimmy and then Davis almost kills Jimmy and that causes Chloe to fall in love with him and he can move in with her. Oh, then let's have Jimmy become a drug addict and a bitter hate filled low life"
Great ideas. Sheesh.

I could be wrong, but within the context of this story, I am convinced the marriage was not about Chimmy but about Chlavis. They used it as a vessel to do the whole Beauty and the Beast theme where the beast "steals' the bride and takes her to his lair (in this case the FOS became the lair for Doomis). The fortress scene was very much like a famous BatB movie (sorry, can't remember the name).
Topping (Amber) can tell you a heck of a lot about the whole BatB thing. I'm sure she'd be glad to expound on it.
They have continued this theme throughout the entire season. Again, Topping can expound on it much better than I can. Even at that it doesn't take an expert to know just what they are doing with Chlavis -- Beauty and the Beast.

It would have worked better if he stole her before the vows. The way that they did it doesn't work imho.
