I thought that last scene was FANTASTIC! I actually felt a connection to the mythos, and I almost expect a Superman-Lois Lane rooftop scene next week! Sadly, most of the episode felt sub-par except for the final two acts.

I think it was good but lame since it wasn't face to face. This is the problem with not having an RBB costume. I certainly hope Clark gets one soon.

It was cute...not the greatest. It fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed Clark's peaked interest, the shout out to Superman 2 and SR (By default), but other than that, eh.

It was probably the only decent scene. Although there could have been more interaction besides dropping off a newspaper.

I like the 'Can you read my mind' reference and also the bit of music from that same song when she walks away and they show him up on top as he turns around. And the whole, if you need a friend, I'm the one to fly (well in this case call) to :D .
I know it's dumb but I liked it a lot.

The whole episode was iconic, and that's how I describe the last scene with a romantic flair to i! Very nicely done!

I thought that this may have been the best one of the best, if not THE BEST ending of an episode of smallville in all 8 seasons!! If only the rest of the episode was equally amazing! This scene really resembled how i feel the beginning of the friendship between superman and lois lane should be! I find it really amazing how close this season has taken clark to becoming the same man from the comics/ movies yet how far he still has to go.

the last seen was the best part of the episode...other than that...meh
I would rate it an 8. It wasn't the best and certainly not the most romantic (the save in the scene before took that honor) but it was very well written considering the limitations that exist for this series.

I couldn't sit still during this scene and i was especially overjoyed when lois said the "can you read my mind" line :D:D:D too much goodness!! AHHHHHHH only smallville can do this to me :\
Overall it was a great mixture of mythos and development for Clois. My favorite scene of the entire season ;)

It is Lois who will name him SUPERMAN, and it was great how they set that up, and yes the way she came across to the RBB, is exactly how she was toward Clark in the barn in "Infamous", So Clark knows he has a true friend in Lois Lane, one he will need to at times comfy with. I love it!! you could see the sparks flying it's amazing that it didn't burn the street down or something like that.

That's how I felt too.
Just wanted to create a thread about the last scene between Clark and Lois where it's Lois the one getting Clark the coffee and Lois doing his paperwork. I loved that because it showed that Lois isn't above realizing when she needs to pay her dues. She's constantly cracking jokes at Clark's expense (which of course he does right back to her) but she knows that he truly cares for her and literally put his life on the line for her and she immediately wanted to pay him back in her little indirect way. I thought it was so sweet and endearing. :o I especially loved the line about the paper and not sure how many holes he wanted so she did two copies. So cute!! Of course it didn't take long for our Lois to go back to her normal mode when she stole the pastry from Clark!! Hehe!!!

That was absolutely adorable....
She was so touched that he would risk his life for her, and even when he pointed out that she saved him too, she kinda shrugged it off, out of guilt I think because she felt responsible for him being there.

I really REALLY want him to be called Superman, Clark has earned to have the official name, but I think there are some red-tape off-set issues preventing that. :(
However, "Man of Steel" I think would be lovely, since it ties into Superman.
Far better than RBB. Lois is right, it is a mouthful and it just doesn't sound so great. I think "Good Samaritan" was better than RBB.

I still want to know how in the future lois lane does not know Clark is Superman after she met him for years and years before WITHOUT glasses on.
I liked some aspects of the scene. And its not that i don't like Clois. I just wish they brought it all in later and they didn't meet in high school. I would of preferred Chloe getting Clark into the Planet (better yet Perry White hiring him!!!). And them meeting for the first time there. Then have all this chemistry. I guess the past kind of fades my charm for it. Although that last scene was cute :)

Exactly. From an acting standpoint, I get it. TW was probably "playing it off," which is what the script called for, but maybe a more genuine acknowledgment and a loving smile would've made it more effective.

I love those scenes in the DP when they have their conversations across from each other. Lois being all sweet and helpful was too cute. I liked the way Clark seemed hurt getting a little more sympathy from Lois. Tom and Erica together knock their scenes out of the park. Best Lois and Clark ever.

OMG their chemistry in that scene is sizzling. Specially the way they looked at each other right before the scene changed. If I didn't know that they're already married to different people I could have sworn you can actually see love between those gazes. And Erica was so beautiful at that particular scene. This is one thing I like about Lois sometimes. She does dumb things from time to time but she does so in cute ways and you can tell that Clark usually likes it when she does stuff like this. Lois is just such an awesome character here in Smallville. Can't wait for lots of CLOIS! :D

Complete with a groan and everything. Way to fish for the sympathy Clark, that made me laugh!
Clark is so lighthearted around Lois, not all the time but frequently, and I love seeing that side of him. He is so wonderful this season, I just adore him right along with Lois who I adore maybe a teensy bit more, but only a teensy bit :D
Lois was so sweet here and as I said when I was explaining why she is my favorite character, she is a character that does ill advised things but then she learns from it. I appreciate that a great deal because I think it makes her more relatable.
Then she took the bear claw (she called it that but it looked more like a toaster strudel to me) LOL that was cute too and she smiled at him. "You weren't going to eat this were you?" and he smiled back. Awwww!
She did leave him the latte and the orange juice though ;) Not to mention his work definitely had all the hole punches it needed, lol, double AND triple!
Though she hasn't weighed in on this, I'm betting my buddy BadToad liked that scene, with someone being sweet to Clark.

You would win that bet my friend :D
I do like when people are nice to Clark, and grateful. Especially in this sort of case, since as far as Lois knows, this is just a regular, ordinary guy that jumped in front of a bullet for her. And considering that there was kryptonite around, she's pretty close to being right.
For me, I would've called this scene at the DP the "most romantic" of the episode. Moreso then the phone call scene. Because this was Clark and Lois interacting, face-to-face.

Ha! I say your name and you appear, now if only I could use that trick on my bank account. "I haven't gotten a bigger paycheck yet." POOF! It appears. :p
I liked it too, because he doesn't get enough love. I ADORE Clark this season, and if they aren't going to let him have the title, to heck with 'em, because I'll use "Superman" for the rest of this season and into next. ;)
Also, as a Lois fan I liked that while she is a hard *ss alot, so too is she a softy inside and that is always great to see.
I thought the DP scene was very very sweet. She seemed to be really scared that Clark might've died and I think her worry came across clear enough. Their shared smiles after she stole the pastry *heh* were quite sweet as well.
But I also liked the phone booth scene a lot too, more than I thought I would, though I remained optimistic. I watched it on youtube (as of now, several times) but played the Superman Returns love theme (where Clark is watching Lois go up the elevator) over it so I could hear them talking but still had the movie music going. :P
I'm a dork, I know.
It was nice though that the DP scene was more Clark and Lois and the Phonebooth scene was more Superman (RBB) and Lois, because Lois got a great scene with both sides of Clark's persona.
LuckyLois
04-24-2009, 02:44 PM
This I would call the most romantic scene in this episode and not the phone booth. Lois apologizing for putting Clark in danger instead of taking credit for trying to rescue him. It reminded me of the time she was trying to cheer him up in Apocolyspe and she felt like she was letting him down. He was completely surprised by that. Not to mention how cute she was trying to take care of him and his pretending to be sore.
The sparks were all flying and they both looked gorgeous!! LOve the tease and wink at the end of the scene too!!

I'm lovin' the softer-side-of-Lois! It's nice to see the vulnerability under all that "armor" when we can. That was one of the best newsroom scenes ever between those two - the looks alone were priceless. I thought it was nice that she continued the theme and let her guard down (by telephone) with the Red-Blue-Blur too, showing some symmetry between her feelings for Clark and his alter ego. I'll be watching these scenes again and again for a while.

I felt the way about this scene that I did about the whole episode... for once Lois was awful and Clark was amazing. I absolutely loved it, and it really felt like something a young Superman would do :)
I think the producers are taking us more toward superman being the disguise like in the current comic continuity and LnC. Personally I like that better than superman being the personality.
I happen to agree with this 100% - I didn't get the usual (movies) feeling that CK was a disquise. We saw Clark taling to Lois - not Superman - I was the best - in my opinion - inital contact between Lois & the Super hero I've experienced.

That is what I prefer in that episode (after Clark of course lol): how Lois shows her feelings, her fear to be alone (as she says she has a job it helps...)and above all, as she is okay to say "I was wrong" which proves she can be humble (with a little help from her friends !). At last, for people who doubt, we see her heart. It was a delight.
----- Added 1 Minutes later -----
The best scene to me is at the DP between Clark and Lois, this is here we can see how she is fragile and how Clark can be strong and helpful for her
xrayvision
04-26-2009, 10:07 AM
I also liked how she didn't get to speak to the RBB until she did become humble. In Identity she seemed to have a take no prisoners attitude about getting to speak to the RBB. I'm glad they didn't use that strong-arming approach because it's what Lex & Lana did. Lois should be shown in a different light, as she was. Instead, when Clark asked her what she would do different than other reporters, she said she would want to hear him out and be a listener. That's what instantly drew Clark to her and decided to give her the phonecall.
This episode really progressed both Lois & Clark and even Jimmy somewhat, though he has his own demons that he must battle. I'm hoping Lois, Clark & even Chloe (if she gets past her very dark demons) can help Jimmy & that Jimmy can help Chloe as well. I think Jimmy still cares for her, which is why he's resorting to the drugs as a substitute for Chloe. While Chloe is subbing DD for Jimmy. I'd love to see Pete come back next season & help both characters out since he was very close with Chloe & even interacted well with Jimmy in Hero. And if Intergang shows up & corrupts City Hall, that plot would be perfect for Pete, who's destiny is being a politician & VP under Lex.

I don't know which was cuter-- the last scene (phone booth scene) or the bearclaw scene. Both were a big payoff in terms of Lois' character, IMHO. I always suspected she was vulnerable under that shell of hers, it was finally made explicit.
Classic Lois, absolutely delightful!

Ah come on you know whats going to happen....Jor-El or something is going to warp the reality and Supes will emerge with his bumbling CK disguise and sport the official Shield as hes flying through the clouds
Just think of Smallville right now as one giant metaphorical X-men "Danger Room"
As for the ending, loved it....this is what I've been waiting for, moments like these that shape Supes into the hero we all know and love. Despite the Arc of Suck, its why I like this season so much....because Supes is really moving forward with his destiny.....No more "Pity Parties" in the Barn:D
