So far, very unimpressed by Caroline Dries. Horribly Long set-up, trite, boring dialogue...campy episode at best without being touching at the 22 minute mark.
---Alright, the 8:25pm Clark and Lois scene (With both running off to change) was cute.
---The Jimmy/Thugs scene was interesting.
---The last scene was okay. Not the best Clois moment, but good to see Clark enchanted.

The last scenen made me go "AWWW!" They are falling in love!
In fact, the last few scenens were actually pretty good. IT was a hit-or-miss episode.
The last 15 minutes of the episode blew me away completely! So while I agree that it started off slow (and Caroline Dries can't write like Bryan Q. Miller) it all came together for me in the end.

Well for me it started with Lois jumping into the window to save Clark. Then Clark with the bullet! That was just so awesome! And then the Daily Planet scenes! I loved how he faked being hurt.

Yeah, they were nice but it felt sooooo forced and unnatural. Caroline seemed to be shouting "You can't dislike it now...see, I made a reference."
Wrong.

I think the writing was pretty good. Kryptonite money is a little far fetched but I thought character interaction and characterization of the characters was really great and the action and suspense with the gritty overtone was wonderfully done. So I'd give it an 4. Not bad but better than the average.

I think she mentioned a lot of iconic mythos in this... I liked it a lot. I can't believe people didn't like it?

I rated this a three. It wasn't as horrible as some episodes have been but it could have been much better as well. I didn't like how they just randomly threw Kryptonite in there and I think they should have dedicated an entire episode to Intergang but we'll see what happens with them.

Ditto. There were alot of boring parts through most of the episode. But the end made up for it! :o

i agree but i don't think i like the jimmy storyline. it just seems like they don't know what kind of storyline to write for him so drug addiction is a nice easy copout

The last 2 Clois scenes, and the last Chlark scene had decent writing. But the rest of the episode? Not so much.
I'm not a fan of Dries at all.
And the Shelby line was a lazy mistake, and that kind of thing just annoys me.
I gave it a generous 3 for the scenes I mentioned, and some of Clark's dialogue, which wasn't too bad.

I voted 3, for the following reasons:
* GOOD: Clois -- wow.
* BAD: Doomie chewing up the bad guy. Shelby's a boy, isn't he?
* UGLY: The whole Jimmy-on-the-skids thing.

I would've given it a 3.5 but since you round up from .5 on a whole scale, I gave it a 4.
Not perfect. Some lines were 'oops-mistakes' but I overall enjoyed the episode.
I really don't like the Jimmy-drug addict storyline, though I did think they were trying to tell he us that isn't completely hopeless here. I got a nice feeling from him taking pictures for the Daily Planet again, in a side bar way of course, but then he said it was just for the money :(
But I don't know if I can blame the individual writing for this episode since that was a side storyline that they started in 'Turbulence'
However I did like how the story started with Lois doing something for a bad reason/in a bad way and it came around to her reaching a rather nice epiphany. Nothing on too grand a scale, but some nice stuff and her being so nice to Clark for taking a bullet for her and later being so open with the Blur, that was just lovely.
Most of the dialogue was pretty decent, I thought. A few lines in there I wasn't enamored of, but the only line that I felt was REALLY off was the one about Clark standing up women. I figured before I watched this that it would have something to do with an action Clark committed earlier in the episode, but as it turns out, that wasn't the case. With Shelby being a MALE dog it made it a noticeable oversight and the flippant way Lois said it made me feel like she doesn't really care about that (moment in 'Infamous') anymore but just wanted to take a barb to Clark . . . and well, I'm not keen on that. It would have been better to have Lois just say “What are you doing here? I thought you said you had to go home and feed Shelby?” Without adding the ‘standing up women’ part.
However the later scenes eclipsed that, though I can’t ignore the fact that it jarred me from what should have been a easy/comical scene.
I also thought it was well done to have the dark Doomsday stuff in here battled against by a very 'Supermanly' scene at the end. Clark was the hope in the darkness in this episode and Lois became, in her own way, part of that silver lining.
I hate the Clark/Superman=Savior=Jesus garbage that the show sometimes spews just as I've disliked it when used in other stories. It is because he decides to be a superhero that it makes him such a lovely person, it shouldn't be bound by some fate that he has to be, because it takes away, to me, part of what makes Superman a cut above the other superheroes. It also makes it feel like he'll be seen as more of a god and less of a person, and Clark may be Superman (or is going to be) but he is still a man, a person with feelings and desires just like the humans that he feels so close to.
Sorry, going off on a tangent. I just get so hyper about that, but what I wanted to say is that this episode seemed to let Clark be that beacon of hope without making him out to be some kind of holy messiah and I really appreciated that.
Caroline has had some hits and misses, but I think overall this is one of her better episodes and I didn't get bored. Though I hate to see Chloe in such the mess she is in, that also was a plot set in motion before this episode came along, and as much as it makes me cringe, from a writing standpoint? I do think Chloe's despair came across very clearly and you could feel how lost she is. She is right on the precipice of telling someone, first Lois and then Clark, but then she gets afraid and retreats again. So that was well handled, though I'm not a huge fan of the story arc itself. The imagery of the blood on Chloe's hands was especially effective.
Clark was really great in this episode, and though I wasn't so thrilled with how Lois started out, she had a little mini arc in this episode that I thought turned out pretty darn spiffy.

I'm probably in the minority but Dries did a fantastic job with the episode. She's three for three, Bloodline was awesome, Infamous was awesome, and tonight's episode was awesome!
She understands the mythology very well. The last scene was pure gold, and Dries did a good job with Clark getting shot, now Lois won't be able to connect the dots between him and Superman. I loved all the references to Superman. "I was going to sew an 'S' on, is that tacky?" and "I'm sure there's a better name out there, why don't you be the one to find it?" The Chloe scenes were seriously creepy.......especially when she was getting rid of the body bags.
And no, this post is not sarcasm, I really ENJOYED this episode!:)

The episode started very slow, and through most of the episode was like that but I liked the cinema effect on many scenes, and also was a quite interesting episode, it had continuity (between Turbulence and what I saw in the trailer with Beast) and I loved the Stiletto saving the day scene especially when Clark saved her (what an irony:lol:!). And I definitely LOVED Lois in her Stiletto suit! She was beyond hot this episode!!
I gave it a 4 because I know it could be better but I'm satisfied:).

I certainly wasn't blown away, but considering the different story lines she had to juggle I think it really wasn't all that bad. Everything tied together pretty well, although, as others noted, Jimmy's addiction isn't very creative (that couldn't be helped by this writer though).

this episode was okay at most but alot of it came off as a joke to me. seriously why do they do this a few weeks before the finale every year and decide to make a filler episode instead of focusing on the doomsday or injustice league stuff?

Wrong.
Statistically speaking, writing for Smallville is still the safest way to get from point A to point B.
OOPS, was that a clever reference or what?

So anything that has to do to the future Superman is filler to you? Lois is the one who names him and introduces him to the world. I guess you missed out in the comics and movies.

2...the Clois moments left me feeling unfulfilled and wishing they handled certain things differently...I was more moved by the looks that Clark and Lois gave each other on several occasions rather than their words - I attribute that to Erica and Tom
The Jimmy angle continues to baffle, and Chloe/Davis is getting old...Doomsday being held at bay by Chloe? Come on...talk about suspending disbelief!
I enjoyed the episode because of the actors, and because of the new possibilities - particularly in the Clois arena - I am so over Chloe...I think Allison is a fine actress - too bad her storylines are mutating into the laughable!

I think I would have voted this episode higher if not for the fantastic Clois Bryan Q. Miller has given us this season. This should have been one of his episodes. I can only imagine the magic he would have produced.

I enjoyed it, I really did...but I don`t like the way Caroline writes episodes...it` could be better if it was written by someone else.... Clois scenes were awsome because of Tom and Erica great acting and chemistry, not because of the great writing, IMO...It was interesting episode, nice, maybe even romantic...but something tells me that it could be one of the best, but it wasn`t... I just compare it with Hex, which was great written and I loved it so much and still think that writing of Stilleto spoiled the great idea of the epi...it`s sad...

um no i missed out on nothing. its a filler. it has nothing to do with the A plot which is Doomsday being unleashed.
this was an episode where one of the main characters professional moral compass was sacrificed for a good laugh. Lois was fabricating a story just to get noticed. The plot was completely predictable with her realizing "what i did was wrong! yellow journalism so isnt the way to go!"
Yeah we know she named Clark Superman, we get it. firs to interview him and all that crap but don't ruin her character and professional career before it even starts.
Oh yeah and kryptonite money? really?

She is not my favorite Smallville writer. Although, I really liked Bloodline.
I liked Stiletto better the second time when I watched it alone. The first time was live with my husband yelling, "THIS IS SO STUPID!" during every act break. During the Chloe scene at the dumpster he said, "How ironic that she is the only thing that makes this show worth watching and she is not part of the Superman comics."

Same here, this was perfect for Clois and all the references people were talking about but the first part was really slow. It was the only thing which bothers me. So I put a 3 but it is hard considering how I enjoy the Clois/RBB/Clark alone/Lois saying she is a human being after all,...:p
