Very nice to see Bruno Mannheim. I hope we get Morgan Edge back next season. I'm looking forward to this.

I'm glad we have Intergang now, It could be one of the storylines for Season 9, as originally thought :)

I'd rather have them leave out Darkseid & just hint his existence. I'm hoping next season has a mob like theme like season 3 had. It would be great if we can get Edge & Mannheim together. Edge already knows Clark's secret and has all sorts of connections that Mannheim doesn't at this time.

I would love Intergang to make more of a presence in Season 9, but this episodes didn't even bring up the name and it looks like they are in jail for good.

That is what I thought when I saw this
I yelled 'Intergang!"
and my sister looked at me and said
"What the Hell is Intergang?"
:p Ah well, I felt super smart for all of two seconds.
I don't know if this was just a shout out or if they going to use it. I kinda hope Intergang gets a start into the next season, but who knows.
Thank you for starting this thread! I loved the whole Bruno/Intergang story! It was a really nice pre-quel for what we will be seeing of his story hopefully in season 9! :)

I'm willing to bet Intergang and Darkseid will be the villains of season 9.
Brainiac, Lex, Doomday, among others; all were handled very well. And Darkseid is cheap to do. Basically just a guy in a coloured and facily decorated muscle suit with a cool helmet. Omega Beams wouldn't cost any more than heat vision, so he's pretty cheap to have.
I'd love to see an Intergang and Darkseid themed season 9.

Yeah I was so happy to see Bruno. I think it'd be great next year to have Morgan Edge possibly back and have Bruno too and have the main plotline revolve around the Red-Blue Blur vs. Intergang.

I would love to see them bring Danny Turpin back a time or two to fight against Bruno. For some reason, it seems to me, the two actors are perfect to go head to head.

Enter Morgan Edge. I would love to see him bail them out and head up Intergang. Bruno is too young now to be the leader, but he could be the next in line.

I'll take Intergang vs. RBB. I really don't want the show to lose its focus on Clark by focusing on the JLA every episode.

Danny was cool. I'd like to see him back. The actor also played Trevor way back in Hothead. He deserves to be a recurring character. Maggie Sawyer would also be cool to see again.

I caught that. Even though he wasn't talking about Apokolips, I do think it was an unintentioned reference given that they were setting up Intergang. If Darkseid shows up, I wonder how he will get hooked up with Intergang. Maybe through Doomsday?
I think it would be cool if after Clark is revived after going down to Doomsday in their battle, Rokk gives him another ring so Clark can go back to Krypton & stop Brainiac from sending Davis to Earth on his ship. This way, Doomsday's origin will change back to what it was prior to Apocalypse where he would have survived Krypton's explosion & been floating around in space, even landing on Apokolips and wreaking havoc. This would sort of erase the Doomsday battle from happening, but as Smallville's time travel has shown, Clark would likely remember the experience in battling Doomsday. This way Doomsday could be set up to return in Superman's future. And since Darkseid is a cosmic being, he could sense that Doomsday prior to this possible timeline shift (back to the original timeline) was on Earth and make contact with Morgan Edge who has dealt with Kal-El and give him weapons.
What does everyone think about this? It would fix the continuity errors caused by Apocalypse and actually set up for an interesting Intergang-Darkseid storyline.

That was the episode with Coach Walt when Clark first wanted to play football in season 1. The coach had a fiery temper meteor power.

That'd be nice reallly interesting however that would make the entire season 8 irrelevant. Kinda like an episode that you dont find out is a dream until the end. But it would be a very interesting spin and good set up for Doomsday in the future.

Well, maybe it may be possible that they could do it so that it only affects the stuff regarding Doomsday. It could end up saving Chloe & Jimmy since both are on bad paths due to Davis' presence on Earth.

I'm usually all over the reoccuring villians, but Bruno Manheim did little for me. He seemed very thuggish. I guess I was hoping for a little more Tony Soprano or something. In general I like street crime, and organized crime as an opponent often because it's more likely to bring in legal/cop complications.
As for the Darkseid connection, Darkseid has never done too much for me. Apokalyps and the enslaved populace in rags and Granny Goodness and such was always was way too over the top silly for me. Still, I'll take any excuse I can get to see Tom Welling dressed as a Gladiator next season if that counts for anything.

Supposedly he did, but they never showed his body. He was supposedly dead in Phoenix too but resurfaced. Like I said, if Lex was shot point blank in the head in Detroit (in Fracture) & transported all the way to the Smallville Medical Center for treatment & lived, then I completely buy that Edge lived. The windshield didn't shatter to pieces as one would suspect and the inside of the car wasn't crushed.
I'd love to see Rutger Hauer or Patrick Bergin back to fill that role again. I think Edge was one of Smallville's best villians next to Lionel. He was all business & very dangerous.

Bruno Manheim is thuggish.
By the way, I honestly doubt that Morgan Edge will be part of the Intergang, considering that they retconned Bruno to be the founder again AND Morgan Edge is coming back to the comics to his old place, the media tycoon.

Anyone think that since there were talks about posibly having Darkseid for next season, they´ll use Manheim and Intergang as a way to introduce him, a la STAS??
Great to see the introduccion of Intergang and if we dont get a supervillans like in the last seasons, Ill be just as glad if we have Intergang as the main arch, well, that and Clark becoming Superman of course.

Well, this show does things differently a lot of times as we all know. Bruno is in a bad spot now & Edge had (and possibly still has) a lot of power & knowledge. Also, we got the precursor to Intergang in this episode, so who knows who the leader will be once the actual Smallville version of Intergang shows up.
Right now, it would be much more realistic if Edge gets involved & bails Mannheim because Mannheim isn't yet at the point in his life where he has friends in high places.
One thing I've been repeatedly mentioning is the absence of Aethyr & possibly a healed Nam-Ek after she/they got sucked out of the Phantom Zone in Zod. We know this happened since they were fighting with Raya and both were right next to her, so if Raya was sucked out then they must have also. It would be great to see them return after Edge resurfaces (if this happens). It would be cool to find out that in his absence, Edge was going around & recruiting the most dangerous beings he found on Earth as a guarantee for his survival and that Aethyr & Nam-Ek are 2 of his recruits. They would know about the 28 galaxies and the existence of Apokolips and possibly even know where they could access a boom tube that can take them to Apokolips for the weapons they will need to take over Metropolis.

Apokolips isn't part of any known galaxy, that's why one can only get there by Mother Box Boom Tube.

Only if they manage to get Rutger Hauer back, which I doubt so...
Edit.
Wait a minute, he had surgery, so that wouldn't make sense. Ah well, they could change his appearance back. ;)

You didn't like Patrick Bergin? I know Rutger Hauer is better (and since you're Dutch, you are probably a big fan since Hauer is from Holland too) but if he's too costly, I would love to have Bergin. I think Bergin's voice and even his appearance looks quite a bit like Rutger's (when his hair is short & he doesn't wear glasses) except Patrick Bergin is a little taller. But I could see why they chose him. Both were very vicious at portraying the character & I'd love to see Edge back if one of these 2 can reprise that role.
I'd love to see some deja-vu with the RBB on red-k infiltrating Intergang & joining it for a big money mission, only to screw them out by beating up the operatives & taking the loot for himself (which he would return to the police by the end of the episode this happens in). I think the 2nd or 3rd episode of season 9 should be with red-k & its effects on Clark's hero & career roles and start the RBB vs. Intergang plot nice & early in the season.

Do you think it would be credible if they explained that Zod and/or Brainiac as having known about it & divulging this info to Aethyr & Nam-Ek? I somehow doubt they will introduce Metron on the show, so Darkseid would have to have another contact who would set up the boom tubes.

Well, I suppose I'm a bit prejudiced, but Hauer's edge stood out so much more than Berkin's - might have had something to do with the writing though. :)
xrayvision
04-24-2009, 04:51 AM
Well, I didn't mean you're prejudiced (if anything, maybe proud of a fellow Dutchman). But Hauer's Edge was definitely preferred by the majority of fans here, including myself.
I think the writing of Shattered was superb, but we got to see more of Edge as his own character in Exile & Phoenix than in Shattered, where Bergin didn't get as much screentime and was being hidden by Lionel. In Exile, Hauer's Edge was the biggest crime boss of Metropolis. He is my favorite villian not seen in the Pilot.
I liked Hauer's edge better but would take either one if we could get them.

Bruno Manheim is thuggish.
Yeah, and Doomsday is a mindless killing machine. Meanwhile Smallville does it's thing.
I think characters can be thuggish and still interesting, but he wasn't doing it for me. I need a little complexity of motivation or something. Maybe a foil.

Well, don't forget that he's still new & young and doesn't have a lot of experience. I think they need to have Morgan Edge return next season and bail him out & have the 2 of them set up Intergang with Edge in charge & Mannheim as his protege.
Edge had motivations and he could teach Mannheim a lot so that Mannheim would one day take over.

I wasn't impressed with Bruno Manheim and way he was portrayed in this ep.
I don't read the comics so I don't know if he's this hotheaded and over the top.
But if they are doing Inter gang they need to replace and do a character overhaul on him.
xrayvision
04-26-2009, 11:52 AM
I think they need to have Morgan Edge return, bail him out of jail, and take him under his wing since Bruno is still very young & has lots to learn. They could make Edge be the leader of Intergang & Bruno be his #1 guy & heir to the throne.

xrayvision
04-26-2009, 12:14 PM
It was said he did, but nobody ever confirmed it (checked a pulse, etc). He also "died" in Phoenix but returned in Shattered, so something tells me this guy is very hard to kill. And he's a character in Clark's future.
I wouldn't be surprised if he is alive. When Lex shot his windshield, it didn't shatter like the windshield of the Kent's truck in Commencement when Jason shot it. And Jason shot it once & it completely shattered. Edge's just had a crack after multiple bullets hit it. I think his windshield blocked most of those bullets & Lionel hid him afterwards.
Don't forget that Lex survived a point blank shot to the head plus being transported from Detroit to the Smallville Medical Center for medical care in Fracture. If he was able to survive all that, then surely Edge survived his very questionable "death".
