Did anybody get the feeling that she isn't right in the head? Staying in a bunker for 50 years. I mean come on if I had been left there and everybody was killed I may wait for a day or two if somebody was supposed to come back but after that I would be out of there. Well maybee at that age I may stay a little longer than a couple of days but nowhere near 50 years.

I agree it's really hard to believe she didn't once try and go and find her sister. She knew she was alive. She wandered into town to "do what she had to do" to survive. But she stayed in her bunker for 50 years...it's laughable. I'm laughing now... I just can't buy it.

I find it believable. Children who who have traumatic experiences can become very stigmatized. It can affect them into adulthood.

Her sister told her to stay there. She was what 11-12 years when that happened. She waited 50 years for her sister... I think it is believable. In a sci-fi freakish way... But CompanyMan is right. She obviously had trauma after the ordeal.

I agree. And hey, maybe she did take Angela seriously--she said to stay and everything would be fine, so, coupled with the trauma, I guess she was too scared to disobey a prophetic dream and leave.

She was kind of messed up, though. I imagine fifty years of solitude would do that to a person, so it's justified.

I can't sorry. It's hard for me to accept that a little girl never once asked for help when visiting the town folk. Or after a few days when her sister never showed. She didn't go and start looking for her. Trauma or no trauma...I don't buy it. I just can't.

Just imagine being that young and responsible for so many deaths. No wonder she went crazy.

Im not questioning the trauma she experienced. Just that she knew her sister was alive and she had to have know enough about the world to seek out help. She couldn't have been that dependant on her sister. And basically choosing to stay out there knowing theres a town nearby where help could be found is just mind boggling to me. I don't buy it.

Aparently she can fly like Storm of the X-men. they didn't show her flying but she had to go somewhere very fast.

I half expected her not the remember how to speak.

Hopefully she'll be a baddie later on

I got the Impression that she never left the bunker as a little girl. She said it was stocked with food when she found it.

Given that it looks like a millitary fallout bunker it was probably stocked so that several people could last for a bunch of years. so a single person could perhaps last a good 15 to 20 years by that time she was so unstable from isolation that the only thing that she knew and held onto was her sisters last words "stay here for safety"

thats how I saw it anyway

Alice is crazy just look at her hair. But angela was a little crazy when she said anytime she felt uncomfortable she would steel socks for alice. But alice i think just wants a family because when she found out that peter was her nephew she stopped the storm. so mabey she is crazy because she had no one to correct her over the years.

So what is her next move since Angella told her the truth and she flipped out and stormed out the bunker.

haydenclaireheroes

i think her next move is to get out of the place because her sister Angela always told her to stay.

Good question. Hopefully this isn't the last we've seen of her and I hope they don't pull a Luke or an Alex.

maybe they really had a cure and Angela caused the masacre by escaping and going to the cafe.

If she would have stayed with Alice and went with her to get the shot maybe Alice would have remained calm and not lost control of her power.

It seemed more like an experimental cure. The Shanti Virus didn't come around until 1974 (the year of Shanti's death) and it took a few years of experimentation to try to modify the virus into a cure for taking away abilities.

Of course she wasn't right in the the head. She is a hermit who hasn't had social contact since her early teens. Having crazy weather powers, seeing your parents killed in front of you, and living alone in the desert for decades will do that.

I hated how they had her take off so quickly because now I'm wondering how and when they'll bring her back... hopefully they don't have her show up at the perfect moment and be some deux ex machina later @ the end of the season.

She had to go somewhere and she has no home other than the bunker. She has no skills and is crazy so I don't see alot of options for her.

I guess she could charge people to make it rain for farmers when things get to dry.

Or she is probably responsible for that tidal wave of destruction we saw in the season premiere. Remember Hiro flashed forward into the future and saw Ando kill Fut-Hiro? Then we saw a wave of destruction rolling towards them. That's gotta be Alice...she never got her socks...and is really pissed because of it.

As funny as your post is, it really makes a lot of sense.... As for her staying there for 50 years, I buy it. I mean she didn't know for sure her sister was alive, maybe she thought she was dead....

They didn't even go back to help the others.
Charles being a telepath could have got in the heads of the police depeartment and sent them out there to the camp in the desert.

And Linderman could have went out there and healed the dead and injured.

I don't think Linderman could heal someone who was dead. And if they had the police out there, it would lead to them asking questions about what went on and possibly exposing specials. And Charles could probably control a few policemen, but there must be some limitation so he can't just control all the policemen at once. Like young Angela said, they were going to have to do things that were morally quesionable to protect their secrets and leaving everybody out there to die was probably one of those things.

Thats cold
Those people out there at the camp were their parents, brothers, and sisters and they were going to sacrifice them just to keep their powers.

not cool.

Hey, I'm not saying that's what happened, I'm just saying it's a possibility. And didn't the company want to blow up New York just to bring people closer together in the first season? I said what I said because of the things the company has done in the past.
And besides I'm just trying to figure it all out. It was pure speculation so please don't think less of me for saying that. I honestly don't really know what was going on and why they didn't go back, so I'm just trying to come up with a theory.

Remember the episode .07%? Linderman told Nathan that was New York's population in the big scheme of things. Meaning out of 6 billion people in the world, NY was only .07% of that. And the The Company wanted to sacrifice New York to "save the world". It's one of the "necessary evils" young Angela was talking about...

They didn't even go back to help the others.

Didn't they, though? They rushed right back as soon as Angela heard the storm warning. By then it was probably all over, and even if it wasn't, there might have been such high winds that they couldn't get close enough to do anything.

Then, probably after it was all over, they went back to the diner, and that's when they talked about founding a Company. Since the scene of them trying to get back was omitted, it understandably could seem to some that they didn't try to do anything, but I'm sure that's not the case.

Skaterpen357

Yeah, didn't they say something along the lines of "we have to go now," before the scene about starting the Company? I didn't realize there was confusion there...

I got the impression that she said that they had to get back out there and they looked at her like they were thinking "I'm not going back out there" and thats all I saw. They didn't show them ever leaving the cafe or anything. I don't see any evidence they ever left the cafe to go back to coyote sands.

Alice can control the weather.

When she went out into the storm at the end of the episode she could have controlled the wind and made it pick her up into the sky.

CompanyMan
04-16-2009, 08:45 PM
Would contolling the wind be the same as contolling the weather?

Let's entertain that for a minute. Although it's hard to say for sure, my guess would be that she weighs close to 180 to 200 lbs. She did look a bit chubby by my recollection. How much wind would it take to lift her up and carry her away? I'd dare say quite a bit, more than your average thunderstorm, probably.

I don't know how much wind it would take. I do think wind is part of the weather though.

Thinking about it the ability to control the weather is a broad and powerful ability.

I guess if she wanted to she could make baseball size hail and when they get close to the ground control the wind and make them collide with people.

She can make lightning come out of the sky and strike people with incredible accuracy.

You've got me there. It was my understanding that she can control the weather, but not any specific part of the weather. But it did look like the lightning strike on Mohinder was intentional.

I think it was left intentionally vague how she dissapeared. I doubt that the writers would intimate that she somehow flew away though. I think it's just as credible to say that she knew the compound like the back of her hand and was able to run quickly to another building while the storm was still raging.

Yeah Mohinder being struck was what I was talking about.

It seems to me that if she would have just run off on foot and hid in another building they wouldn't have just looked around for a few min and said well I can't find her lets go get a hamburger at the cafe.

No, they would stay a few days until they found her. After all it was their family.

Yeah, that does seem cold. And yet that's just what they did. I guess one could assume that Alice just didn't want to be found, so might as well leave her alone. There are a number of problems with the episode, and leaving Alice behind was one of them. Nobody seemed to mind. In my family, pulling a stunt like that would qualify for capital punishment. The Petrellis just go out for dinner.
