According to Perry White in Superman REturns, three things sell papers: Superman, Sex and Tragedy. The rest comes secondary. her comment is pretty ironic, and Clark was investingating a very tragic story.

I think it's part of Chloe's journey away from journalism. She basically regards journalism as irrelevant. That's why she has put it behind her, her future career is as Watchtower.
I don't think her comment was directed at just the DP.
