Chuck used tranq darts on Casey and it took three of them for Casey to go down. It was a pretty funny scene.

SUCH a good episode! I cried at the end, with Ellie. I feel so bad for her because she doesn't know the truth. I really hope that she will in the future!

And next week the return of Jill!

^They showed that spoiler in the previews - so is it a spoiler anymore?

Anyway. Loved this episode. Loved Chuck shooting the darts and dropping the bad guys. Loved Chuck pointing the gun at Casey and meaning it. Loved that Chuck got a glimpse of what his true work potential is - hopefully he will believe in himself more in the future.

I'm really loving Ellie's character and the interaction that she had with Chuck. Their relationship is really the heart of the show and I hope that they bring Ellie in on the secret soon so we can see more Ellie/Chuck moments.

Didn't like that there wasn't much Sarah or Charah. Didn't like that the Intersect is really just a white rubik's cube.

I didn't like that there wasn't much Sarah either. I hope they make up for that next week. I was okay with not a lot of Charah. It would have been nice, but it didn't bother me.

was it just me or did they just leave that whole thing with morgon up in the air? he let it out that chuck had that job and then he wasn't seen anywhere for the rest of the episode. i'm guessing by the next ep he's aware chuck no longer works at that place. i felt they just threw the other characters in just to have them take a part in this episode. but the moment scott bakula was revealed i was hoping to hear him say "oh boy". he didn't say it right away but he did after the ellie and the pancakes thing. they could have thrown a little bit of the old quantum leap theme in there just for kicks.

quantum leap was good. nbc has episodes of it accroding to the comercial last night. and not sure if its a local station or something but i get a channel called iOn and the are always showing episodes. loved the things they did in this episode that winked at that. like the blue light and him sying oh boy and seeing him kick butt agian was awesome.

closetclana
04-07-2009, 06:29 AM
i felt they just threw the other characters in just to have them take a part in this episode.

It did feel like that. There wasn't much Buy More (which is a good thing IMO) and it seems like they used Morgan as just a vehicle to expose Chuck's new job to Ellie and his father.

I did like that Lester and Jeff ran interference for Chuck when he was running away with the button. Jeff threw him a pretty good block.

superhippie2000

maybe these last few episodes are going to be one giant arc so if its like one big episode i can understand why some people got smaller screentime.

Was a very good episode . . . I liked Chuck taking initiative, and knowing what he was doing was right.

The lack of Chuck/Sarah will be made up for in a couple of episodes according to the spoilers . . . we'll see how they handle the aforementioned spoiler next week, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal, Chuck should know better by now

What did everyone think of Chevy Chase in this episode I was concerned when he was anounced to be on this show as I find his comedy sometimes too slapsticky and over the top but I thought he did a good job last night

superhippie2000
04-07-2009, 03:35 PM
ya i thought he did a good job too. he didnt do much tho so im hoping his character has more involvemet in the future. would be cool to see him and scott have a fight scene.

Skaterpen357
04-08-2009, 04:37 PM
^^ I hadn't really known who Chevy Chase was, but I rather enjoyed his character; the "oh, congratulations! Kill his son!" line was one of my favorite comedy moments in this episode. :D

He makes for an enigmatic and kind of eccentric villain, to be sure.

By the way, I didn't realize at first, but the whole computer virus plot was never resolved...I wonder how this will play out in the future...

superhippie2000
04-08-2009, 04:47 PM
ya i was wondering about the virus too. maybe it is going to be activted at a later time. im wondering what the virus will do tho. maybe there was no virus and was just a way to get chucks dad out of hiding or maybe the virus will start turning peoples home computer into an intersect to brainwash the world.

chevy chase was one of the original SNL people and he has done a bunch of national lampoon vacation movies.

Skaterpen357
04-08-2009, 06:49 PM
Ah. I hadn't seen National Lampoon, and alas, I'm too young to know the original SNL...

Not a big Chevy Chase fan myself. Wasn't crazy about him in this Chuck episode. But whatever. It didn't matter much to me either way.

As far as the virus goes - I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the whole idea of a virus gets dropped. Chuck does that sometimes.

I finally got to watch this episode. I was over at my friends house and had her watch it. She wanted to watch the Office but i was like "trust me just watch one episode" and so we watched it and I told her beforehand that it was a drama/action/comedy. and so we watched it and she really liked it but didn't think it was as funny (as i described the show to be).
I kinda think this episode was more dramatic than comedic (i guess thats kind of a givern bcuz chucks dad comes back). Anyone agree with me here?

And that last scene with ellie and chuck...that was really sad :(
What was the name of the song playing?

They have dropped other things? Like what? I think dropping the virus would be weird, seeing as how destructive it was supposed to be.

I considered that, but if they didn't plan to go anywhere with the virus, they could have just as easily have Jeff accidentally step on the button and break it or something, with the CIA cleaning up the virus by the end of the episode. I'd like to think/hope they left that plot open-ended on purpose...

It was "Daddy's Gone" by the British group "Glasvegas". It's available on their album "Glasvegas" which is full of the same sort of music - personally I love it and it was great to hear them getting some American airplay. I'd recommend checking them out if you liked that.

OK, this episode was great!

Loved Scott as Stephen (though I always think of him as Orion). His intro and then his little "oh boy" (nice homage for us Quantum Leap fans!) was perfect. Finding out that Steve invented all that stuff and was obsessed about it was a nice touch.

Chevy Chase as Ted Roark was a wonderful bit of casting. I'm not a huge Chevy fan but it was really good, his performance.

The interview at Roark with Chuck on the bouncy ball was funny.

Jeff and Lester finagling to go to the Expo, Casey and Sarah dressed as geeks, Chuck stealing the thing and then getting caught was good stuff.

Steve's talk with Awesome "Don't walk out on your kids when you promised them pancakes for dinner. They tend to take it badly." and all was very cool. (I'm still fuzzy on the timeline. When did Orion leave them? And who raised them if they were underage?)

Then finding out Roark has an Intersect, Chuck going by himself and shooting Casey (wow!) was amazing.

Orion making a fuss, fighting for Chuck and then all the secrets revealed. When his Dad was explaining to Chuck why he had to leave them all I could think was "wow, just like Bryce Larkin. He had to turn away/against him in order to protect him."

Then getting in "Aces Charles" and using the Intersect to overwrite Chuck's brain to get rid of the current one. Getting caught and Orion sending him away (Telling him to trust his handlers was a nice touch).

Ellie thinking their Dad had split and then seeing Orion making the new Intersect (obviously for Chuck) was a beautiful way to end this episode.

Just terrific.
