Would he have given to her without reading it first? Where did he get it?

It was his own research.

The file was everything that Jimmy was able to find out about Davis Bloome and the mysterious murders. After first trying to convince his wife and his friend Clark about Davis being a serial killer, he had no other option left but to give what he knows to Tess Mercer.

Yes, Jimmy did his own research & more significant reporting that Lois & Clark combined this season. He gave it to Tess because nobody else believed him. Clark should have believed him. He & Chloe both looked like fools tonight for assuming Jimmy was crazy.

In Clark's defense... he sort of sided with Jimmy... Or at least he heard out Jimmy's side... gave him a chance. More than what Chloe ever did!

They did... guess they both need to look for that card...

What is Jimmy going to think when he eventually finds out that Chloe has been living with him in the basement even after discovering that he is Doomsday?

He's going to think "good riddance"... or wait that's what I think.

Yeah, it's hard to defend Chloe after all of the stuff she has been doing. It's a shame what they did with her character this season.

Chloe is naive though. She thinks by sacrificing her life to spend it with Davis, she could protect Clark. I really don't know how she could do this & be Watchtower at the same time.

God I don't even want to think about it. All I want is for Jimmy to serve Davis some heaping pile of justice. He probably will think that she still doesn't know he's a killer and try to "rescue" her. God Chloe is the new Lana:rolleyes:. Men will die and put themselves in the line of fire for her even when she's not that worth it. Don't be a hero Jimmy just this once.

If it was Jimmy's file......then he knows who Clark is and where he came from.

Not even Tess completely knows that. I think Tess got that from Lionel's diary or maybe Lex? I don't know how Jimmy would come about this information.

Jimmy got Tess on Davis case
Lionel's diary had the info
Tess put it all together and somehow got Jesus... but that's a different story...

Nobody believed him because he was on a crapload of pain meds.

From what I gathered, Clark either did the research himself and found all those missing persons on his own, whether Jimmy had some of the same names in his file or not really didn't matter...Tess was intrigued enough by the file to dig around in Davis' past, followed and watched, and made the connections to who he was after reading the Veritas journal. Clark could have possibly been shown the file by Jimmy first, but that may have contained only the tip of the iceberg as far as the number of missing people/murder scenes he popped up at.

Nobody believed him because he was on a crapload of pain meds.

My main complaint about that was that Lex was a looney toon in Shattered & Clark still gave him the benefit of the doubt. But Jimmy reiterated something that Clark suspected himself (and started to suspect again before getting an ounce more proof in Eternal) & Clark didn't believe him in Turbulence.

That, and because they all ignored a crapload of evidence that Jimmy was right (Davis saying he has blackouts and was covered in other people's blood, the blood of a victim under his fingernails, and Clark's pictures).

And all of that wasn't even enough evidence for Chloe and Clark for that matter to at least sit down with Jimmy and let him share his side of the story. No wonder why Jimmy went insane to the point of needing to pop pills...

Maybe next season they will give Jimmy a boost by having him team up with John Jones, Lois, and Clark. I would love to see a team with those 4 working together regularly. It would be reminiscent of the old Clark-Chloe-Pete friendship that I miss very much.

I don't get why he didn't just hand it in to the police? A guy harbouring photos of the crime scenes and being the first to turn up as the EMT? And what's Tess going to do; sharpen her pen?

Maybe he felt like this was something that was beyond the police's capability to resolve. Since Tess is running Luthorcorp, maybe he felt like she was more capable at taking care of the problem.

Tess was looking into davis's passed before she got jimmies files though. Accourding to Chloe someone else was looking into his past when she was. And she was looking into his past in the first few episodes when he asked her to. Which means Tess was looking into it earlier too not when jimmy gave her the files.. Another plot hole i guess?
