I agree I loved most of the performances tonight! I loved Allison's range and I love how she expresses her emotions on her face...its not flat, but I also liked young davis too...he was such a cutie and played Davis really well. And Sam. I love how he acts..he reminds me of Angel in a way.

Toss up between Sam and Allison. He plays Davis so pained, I love it. And I really felt Allison's conflicted feelings about Davis, being asked to kill him, morality, her feelings for a killer, and her devotion to Clark. Really wonderfully acted

Sam was great (he gets my vote) but Allison sucked and I can't believe she's gotten more votes than Cassidy who was second on my list. I'm sorry but her performance was god awful. It was silly, whinny and so many other negative things. She usually does okay but tonight she was way off.

Everyone was awesome tonight.Tom was so great in playing the heroic Clark trying to talk Chloe and Davis down from Davis taking his own life.Sam was so wonderful with his facial expressions.I loved what Allison did with her pained expressions with The Davis Dilema.I think though Cassidy was the best.I remember her saying this was the biggest episode with Tess, and she definitely delivered.I loved what she did in the Tess/Davis bedroom scene. Her looks and chilling voice were just incredible.

Well for me Tom Welling does a fantastic job playing Clark, but that's about it. I mean I didn't enjoy the Fog that much, but that is maybe also cause the film itself wasn't good. I don't know if Tom Welling could ever show his true potential in a movie if he got the chance, but Sam Witwer certainly has proved his worth in films as the Mist. I also loved him the force unleashed. I mean I was surprised when I learned he also played the Emperor. He did a great job in doing that.

Agree completely of course. Tom is good at playing Clark but he's not such a complex character imo, okay he is certainly 'layered' but not as much as Davis. Sam really manages to bring an emotion to the character. I feel sorry for Davis, which is not the approach a lot of people would have gone for, instead make him a bad boy or something, but I think it was an interesting road to take. Sam also proved how good he is in other shows like Dexter, a lot of people remember his role though it was small, and indeed he was extraordinary in The Mist.

Are you kidding me? Davis has only two layers: killer/transformation mode or whiny "Oh, Chloe, I am so torn apart, yadayada" mode. That´s it!

Clark is not supposed to be emotional but stoic. And 8 seasons have not sufficed for some to understand that this is a feature of the character, not the actor.

Thank you:)This is exactly what I said in another topic about Clark called "insensitive". Clark in essence doesn't show his feelings. That is the character. And Tom Welling is absolutely amazing with this fact;)

Right on TOMophilus!...Even John Glover said how hard it was to play Clark in Transferrence, S4 ep6. There were many takes with the scene with Lionel as Clark talking to Martha. He kept over acting the part. Tom was amazing as Clark playing Lionel...Then in Splinter, S5 ep7, Tom played paranoid Clark when infected with a sliver of Brainiac. Again an outstanding performance...In Reckoning S5 ep12, Tom played every emotion when he asked Lana to marry him resulting in Lana and Jonathan's deaths...Just this season in Hex. Tom had great comedic timing and was the best liked episode of the season...TW has a very expressive face and doesn't even have to speak a word to make a scene great. I saw post after post at how viewers cried when they saw Clark give his goodbye kiss to Lana. Even the ones who didn't support the relationship. Kristin said how great Tom was in that scene...There are more episodes where Tom knocked it out of the park but I think you get the drift. Tom has gotten praise from actors, directors and producers saying how good Tom is as an actor. Playing the stoic Clark doesn't give him many chances to show his acting range but there are enough examples that Tom is capable of greatness.

I have to say the acting and directing in this episode really saved it. The writing was pretty bad, but I hardly noticed/cared because the acting was so stellar. We had the four strongest actors in the cast in this episode and they were all on fire. I wouldn't mind if every episode was just these four actors and James Marshall directing.

ITA with your post. Especially the bolded part. Tom is amazing with his face expressions. He plays Clark in an outstanding way. It is not easy to have to be always stoic, not showing your feelings just your expressions. He is perfect for this. Remember, how many times we wonder "what he feels or thinks exactly ?". The scene where he is the most ambiguous is with Lois for the almost kiss. No one can say he was not extraordinary here.
Snowbird, I can add something ? Bizarro, Tom as Bizarro, this is not a proof ?:p
