Why don't they sign her & give her a storyline that involves her? She doesn't need to know Clark's secret to be on the show. Nor do they need to always show her with Clark. This is what they did with Chloe in season 3 when she didn't know Clark's secret and both Chloe & Clark were somewhat independently working on the same plot. We saw a little of this in Odyssey (where she was looking for Chloe) & Action (where she was investigating Lionel's disappearance).

Professing her love won't make that much of a difference, won't influence on things; we know when Lois falls in love with Clark Kent, she doesn't know his secret yet, so they have a good part of their relationship under those circumstances. Dating or not, professing or not the love, there's so much more it can be done with Lois, especially exploring her career, her background, her family stuff, like it was Lucy, Prototype, Action, Veritas, Odyssey, Identity, Arrow, Combat. She's never had those opportunities reasonably portrayed in Smallville and next thing we know, she's this hot shot reporter, like was in Hex, when we hadn't had much of a chance to see her in action. To me, this woman is not just Clark's love, she's much more than that. And, honestly, if there's any love professing, i'll be ticked off, cause from here till the end, there's simply not enough time for Clark to fall completely in love with her, he's just coming back to his "realizing the feelings" phase all over again.

I agree with this! And i'd take Amber Waves any day of the week if that's what it takes to see more of Lois Lane detached from Clark Kent!!! I'm all in favor of more Lois and Clark as individuals than just as a romantic couple!!

Same here. While I do enjoy all of the SV episodes (most of them anyway), I think that the ones with Lois in them are much better. Her character adds so much to the show.

Lois episodes feel to me like what Smallville's supposed to be at this point, a young Superman show. The others feel like a young Batman show with no Batman and Clark Kent as a guest star.

depends on whats considered essential storyline, atleast in first half, we were led to believe, that whole RBB/dual identity/Lois'n'Clark interaction would be one of the main storylines, unfortunately, it was backstabbed by Lana arc and s9 announcement, so yea, Stiletto could be considered as a "filler" from Doomsday arc PoV.

Yeah I guess you could call the episodes where they develop the relationship between Clark and Lois as essential, but we all know that the main story is Doomsday. The others are either complete filler up's or episodes that are fillers but at least contain some character development, some stronger than the other.

It sucks so bad that this season, again, is very Lois light. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Chloe/Doom story line. It's very intriguing. But they could easily put Lois with those stories, too. She could be investigating Doomy, maybe finding out Davis is a serial killer and try her damnedest to get Chloe away from him (not knowing of course that getting him away from Chloe is the last thing she should do). I want to see Lois team up with Jimmy against Davis. She is Lois Lane for cryin' out loud, she can do anything!

The main story should always be Clark, not the villains he faces. When Lois is around, the main story is Clark. When she's not, the main story is Doomsday or Tess or Lana or Chloe. Drama =/= essential and comedy and action-adventure =/= filler. Honestly, what did this episode do to move Clark's story forward? Or Turbulence, or Requiem, or Power, or Abyss? Not very much. I think the word "filler" gets thrown around way too liberally and often times inappropriately. This isn't Batman. The villains are not supposed to be the star of the show and it's not supposed to be all about how Clark reacts to the villains. To me, this is filler because it spends time telling everyone's story but Clark's.
