It's the ER series finale, so that might take away some fans. But I still think we will do a little better than past weeks. Hopefully 4 million.

E.R. finale! I wonder how big of an audience that will reach? I hope it's huge, one of the best shows on TV ever. But I hope Eternal does good too :)

Smallville is up against Bones and no Lois so I say 3.8.

Since Bones is back on, I predict the ratings will be under last week. I really think Bones is a HUGE factor in Smallville's ratings (hence why it went up a little last week). It's a pity because Davis episodes are always the best IMO, though I am actually sad to be missing Bones personally, but I'm not going to miss this episode. It's the one I have been waiting for!!

Kid Collins

Smallville is up against Bones and no Lois so I say 3.8.

The majority of SV's viewers don't go online. So most wouldn't know that Lois isn't in this episode.

But I do agree that SV will take a hit from Bones most definitely.

But unlike some people I won't say that it's because a lot of viewers hated Hex so they didn't tune in for Eternal.

I think that the ratings are going down for this episode. Bones will probably take viewers away and even though NBC was showing a clip show leading into the series finale of ER, I have to believe that people were watching that as well.

Those 3.n numbers make me sad, but with the competition that ER and Bones present, I can easily see my favorite show's numbers being something like 3.9 million (I'm hope it's nothing lower than that).

That being said, I think I can find solace in the fact that even with these numbers, Smallville is still the highest rated scripted show for the CW. (fingers crossed on this - I think the show is just too good to be missing, but that's just me, and I'm not a Nielsen family nor do I own a TiVo... *sighs*

"The CW capped off this first Thursday in April with the already renewed pairing of Smallville (Viewers: #5, 3.80 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 5) and the highly compatible Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 3.28 million; A18-49: #4t, 1.5/ 4)."

Ha! I was right. The ratings increased! SV still has a lot of work to get back to 4mil, but at least we see that the decline in ratings is over. Too bad for Stiletto though, it could have continued with the ratings increase but we will have a two week hiatus and those usually bring the ratings down. :(

CW Smallville 18-49yrs is 1.6/5.......& 18-34yrs is 1.7/6 these are really good.

SpN 18-34yrs. is 1.8/5 WOW! Wonder why the jump in the Demo's now?

S7 Descent (also in April) Demo was 1.4/5

Of course it is!

Requiem also went up against a new Bones and had 3.88 ratings.

Pretty consistent with Eternal's ratings don't you think?

If ratings only reflect how good an episode is then man, the final Battlestar Galactica episode should've earned more than measly 2.4 or 2.7 million viewers considering most critics think that this show is one of the best written shows produced ever.

You can't discount competition in any tv show and also what Network it's in.

For me the biggest proof that we suffer whenever Bones is on,is the fact that ever since Bones moved to Thursday nights only two Smallville episodes have scored ratings over 4mil:the two that didn't have Bones against them.

If anything I think this proves that it's the competition that are effecting the ratings more then anything. Although I'm sure some people stopped tuning in because they didn't like the direction of the story.

Combination of the two but it seems that if Bones was still on wednesday's we might still be hitting 4 million.

If you look at SV's ratings history, the second half of the episodes ALWAYS goes up compared to the first half.

Reason being is that people probably get home late and try to catch the second half of the show.

Doesn't prove anything.

Yes, ratings can be hard to predict but you can't discount competition and what network it's airing in.

American Idol blows away every competition in any night it's airing in. Are you saying that American Idol is the best written show out there since it gets the best ratings?

The ratings keep going up. And when Smallville returns it won't be up against the NCAA tournament anymore, plus this week we had to compete against the ER Series Finale. Some people might forget about Stiletto because of the three week break, but from "Beast" on I'm sure Smallville will get over 4 million. And hopefully a huge boost in ratings for the season finale!

Pretty consistent with Eternal's ratings don't you think?

The difference is Requiem lost viewers compared to the previous episode Power, but Eternal showed an increase in viewers after Hex and Hex had an increase in viewers over Turbulence.

As for the half hour anomaly, that usually indicates a weaker less watched sitcom following one that does better. Usually it's Kath & Kim, but it seems like Samantha Who this week. That's not counting things that might end on the half hour on cable programming.

To the contrary, ratings wouldn't be increasing if viewers didn't like "Hex", Turbulence, and Infamous. It's strong episodes that build the audience for the next episode (Typically, unless there is a huge promotion blitz or something). So, from my view, everything is working and building upon each other.

Yeah. I've given up hope that the CW will ever properly promote the show. Even the WB, being as small as it was, promoted Smallville on the radio from time to time. I have yet to hear a spot for Smallville these days... and what gets me (oh the ironies in life), is the fact that this series is their best rated (scripted) show. Yes, America's Next Top Model does well for the network too, but that's reality TV, and it doesn't do that much better than Smallville.

...I just don't get it.

I've never watched an episode of Bones even though I love David as Angel in Angel. So I finally watched one to see what's so great about it. I think I need to watch another one because I just didn't get into it. I didn't like his partner in the show. And I still can't believe Survivor is still on tv. But hey, SV has been renewed already so we don't have to worry much about ratings. It is good the show is still doing good and at the top on it's own network.

Yeah, that was kind of my reaction to Bones. I watched it because I loved him on Angel, but when I tried to watch, it was very difficult to sit still. I found myself doing laundry; I certainly don't think I would watch an entire season of the show - or buy the DVDs. Maybe I'll catch it when SciFi runs a marathon for it.

For now, I'm glued to Smallville. Call it loyalty, or my blind faith for the show, but I'll stick with it. (I've never seen Survivor. :\)

This season has 4.62 million average so far, it's virtually the same season 7 ratings.
And we have 4 episodes left to see if this season is more successful than the previous one.
Go Season 8!
