Re-watching the final scene over and over, it really hit me - again - how much range this relationship has. They can go from funny to romantic to emotional to sad to teasing to angsty within 2 minutes and it never feels weird or out of place. It's just who they are. And if that isn't awesome enough, they top it off by not having it be some teen soap opera drama, but have them act like grown-ups. Case in point: Clark tells Chloe that things between him and Lois haven't exactly been smoothly lately. And while you could sense some tension in that direction, ultimately their mutual admiration and affection for each other totally shines through - bright and clear - in that final scene. Or in general. They never seem to lose sight of what really matters between them. They still call each other, they talk about stuff without letting whatever else is there between them come between their friendship. They are honest with each other but at the same time respectful. And while they're honest with each other, there's still that mystery left between them about how they truly feel.
And each time I watch a Clois scene it amazes me how much fun it is. This relationship is thoroughly entertaining and really, truly: fun. Yet, it still has its emotional depth to it so that it doesn't come off as shallow or too lighthearted. The writers have found a perfect ballance for Clark and Lois and each scene leaves you wanting more.
And acting wise, Durance and Welling bring out amazing sides in each other.
