View Full Version : One thing I was thinking about the framed rules

I noticed that Clark Kent under the spell (forgetting his Superman half) willingly has no reserve in showing/handing over the framed rules to "Lois".

Then under his normal self he's forced to show her what he considers a "special memory".

I suppose I'm asking to better understand the Clois arc, but does that suggest that without Superman there would be no possibility for Lois and Clark from Clark's side? Like somehow his "greatest weakness" and vulnerability is what seals the deal for him with regards to Lois?

That, or that Clark doesn't have to hide himself around Lois and can be open with how he thinks of her.

Maybe it's because without his secret, he can feel free to try to hit on Lois whereas with his secret, he has to be careful not to get too close; otherwise, he'll eventually tell Lois or they will end up having a strained Clana-like relationship.

Thing is if you hand over something which shows you hold the person in high esteem, that's more of a friendly action than hitting on them isn't it?

Infact I haven't really re-looked at the episode while Clark was under the spell, but I can't remember him being even vaguely ...i dunno....smitten? around Lois when he was under it.

"c'mon Lois, it's one of the rules of reporting" was more like "hey we're a team and this is how it goes".

All of a sudden when Clark becomes a dual identity holder again then he seems aware that there could be a lot more with Lois.

Fair to say that Clark Kent, by himself, would not romantically involved with Lois Lane?
