They never did explain how Lois (Chloe) and Clark got off the roof of the Daily Planet. With Clark forgetting that he had powers, you'd think Chloe would push him off the roof or something. Clark said something to the effect of unless flight is one of his powers, they have to open the door, hinting to his flight.

Edit: Another plot hole was they failed to explain how Oliver got freed from being strung up.

The part of "Hex" right after that was interrupted by a blasted weather report, so I missed it. :(

I really wanted to see how Clark and Chloe got off the roof too. My guess is that someone eventually came up and opened the door for them.

I wish they would show these scenes instead of skipping them.

I think Chloe or Clark just used their cell phones and called someone from maintenance or lower floors to come open the door for them.

What I don't understand is why there are tree leaves on the rooftop of a tall building in the middle of the city. It's not that the wind can carry those up there.

I suspect this episode may have been edited for time. I rewatched via DVR, and indeed there's no explanation for the rooftop escape and none for Oliver's rescue. More significantly, the first time we see Clark and Chlois after that rooftop scene, he's a lot more accepting of matters magical than he was when we left him on the roof. There's a clear implication of a missing character moment.

Ollie's rescue is easier to retcon; obviously Zatanna told Clark what had gone down after depowering the uberspell, and Clark zoomed by and freed Ollie.

By contrast, it seems highly unlikely that Clark and Chlois got back downstairs the first time via calling maintenance. That would have clued the maintenance guys in that people were using the rooftop for illicit purposes, and made it much harder later on for Zatanna (or at least Chloe, particularly Chloe back in her own skin) to get up to the roof again later.

I figured that Clark just called someone in the office below to let them out, Chloe wouldn't have pushed Clark over the roof because that would have been exposing him and his secret to those down below.

For Oliver, I figure that Zantanna may have told Clark where he was tied up and went to get him, or Oliver has a panic button available on him so other JL'ers can locate him...other than that, he probably has some kind of laser or other gadget that cuts through metal :P

They can only fit so much in an hour timeslot(or 40+ minutes). Showing how Clark and Chloe getting off the roof is unnecessary.

I would have been nice to have some throw away dialogue explaining it, but who knows. One thing that was missing from the episode was a Chloe as Lois and Jimmy scene. The promo pictures for that episode showed it, but I guess it is relegated to a deleted scene.

The maintenance person came up with some CLR to fix the doorknob and freed EDChloe and Clark. He was upset to find the doorknob broken off and Clark gave him a stern talking to saying stuff like "Rust means things turn to dust". Chloe rushed him off because she hoped Yuri's story would convince Clark.

Ollie just had Speedy come in and free him. Oh wait. That's ridiculous. Speedy isn't in Smallville. Hmmm. He said he hung around a while, but his words implied no one actually did see who he was... Um... Got it! He had a plasma torch arrow which he used to cut through the chains. It just took him a while to free himself and he figured, "Eh, super sorceress vs dude with arrows? I'm going home. I won't even bother looking for her and her crazy crazy book of spells from Hogwarts. I'll let Clark deal with this one, Mr Red Blue Blur taking all my superhero glory... Grumble, grumble..."

I know, I'm just making stuff up. I feel silly and it's almost 3 AM now. And I like to play "Fill the Plotholes". It's fun! :)

Another plot hole: If Clark's wish was to be normal, why would he retain his powers?

Just like Chloe's wish, even though she looked and sounded like Lois, she was still Chloe. Much like Clark was still Clark, physically anyway.

Clarks determination to meet his deadline got him freed from the likes of Chlois!!!

That's not a plot hole, that's cutting room floor material and better left to fanfic anyway

Maybe Clark used his heat vision to fix the handle or something.

Im still curious how Chloe made it to the rooftop so fast after Clark leaped up there. She must be on some drug. Right after Clark made it up there, she comes running through the door.

That’s a damn good explanation and LOL for the *tree leaves* part!
I was only thinking, “Oh dear, is this really the same spot where Clana had an epic making out scene? Boy, it looked good in that episode but so filthy when we take a closer look!”.

I don't know about Chloe and Clark getting off the roof but in the last scene between Oliver and Zatanna, he said something about she said 'bound by steel' backwards, he then said he had plenty of time to figure out he had to say it the other way, that's how he was freed, (i think) lol

Some times the unaired scenes on the DVD's explain quite a bit...I think it's a timing issue for airing purposes.

The major plot hole for me is how Zatanna’s spell worked on Chloe only in the next morning (or while she was sleeping) and not right away at the party, like it did to Clark later when she hexed on him. (Is it something to do with her line, "Let's make sure tomorrow is a better day."? )

One more thing. When EDChloe try to hit hexed Clark with a pipe, she missed it and scared the hell out of him. As hilarious as the scene was, I was wondering why she didn’t ask him to bend it just like she did in ‘Blank’. EDChloe could easily convince him that he indeed has a super-strength in so many ways like……, ask him to push the locked door. LOL

This is how they might have gotten off the rooftop...

Chloe: Look Clark! *points towards the sky*

Clark: Huh? *turns to look at the sky*

Chloe: *mutters under her breath* This better work.

Clark: A bird, a plane... I don't see what you're talking about Chlo--

Chloe runs up behind him and pushes him into the door.

Crash!

Clark puzzled, steps back and stares at the huge hole in the door.

Clark: Wow! It's amazing how this building stays standing! We have to report this to maintenance immediately Lois, before something else falls apart!

Chloe: Uh-huh... sure, Clark. *steps past him and starts walking down the stairs*

:p

Jade, you're so gentle with our Clark. When I saw a letter Crash!, I was afraid this scenerio would end up with a terrifying-look Clark who is falling down from the rooftop!
