I felt so bad for her.....heck, I may have wished to be Lois too if my birthday was that big of a tanker!

Who was even there?? Pretty much Chloe, Ollie and Lois....but even they bailed. Then we later find out her best friend couldnt bother to pick up a phone and wish her a happy birthday! I cant lie...that pissed me off. If he has the time to call Lois 5-6 times, he sure as hell has the time to wish the girl who's been there for him 24/7 over the past 8 years a happy birthday!

Even though his present was very sweet, and their little bagel scene at the end was cute. So I'll forgive him. :o

All in all....not that fun of a 21st!

Yes, but I'm sure that Chloe has greater things in her life that will make even a good birthday pale in comparison.

I had my birthday last week. I worked all day and nobody knew. I'll take Chloe's party. :)

Yeah, sucks to be Chloe. Pretty much none of her friends stayed for the party and Clark called Lois like 5-6 times but didn't even both to call Chloe to wish her a happy birthday. I actually thought that was a little mean. lol

How could she have fun when she was left alone in the middle of the nightclub holding a dorky looking cupcake with only her pitiful birthday tiara for company? Abandoned by her husband, best friend, Oliver, and her cousin? :( I wanted to jump through the TV screen and keep her company. No one should have to spend their special day like that. At least Clark got her a very nice present.

Honestly...I probably would have taken work.
Atleast that way I would have an excuse for being alone...

Chloe....everyone ditched her. :\

It was sooo sad. Everyone seemed to busy for her. And Clark was being a doosh. At least Chloe called him on it. And it seemed like Ollie had to go and he still tried to make her feel special even if duty called.

I wasn't too happy with how Chloe had to deal with so much crap in this eppy and it seems it only gets worse as the season ends...T_T this blows :\ I like chloe

And then there are those of us who haven't had a birthday party, a birthday card or a wish for the last two years and so-called friends who don't even ask about it.

I don't think it was Chloe's 21st birthday. Wasn't she listed as being 22 in the wedding announcement in Committed? So now she's 23.

Yeah! Chloe's birthday pretty much tanked! I felt more sorry for her about that than I did when Jimmy told her that she was the biggest mistake of his life. BUt then, I'm at that age where I want people to forget my birthdays, so there you go../

Yeah, that cupcake was pretty bizarre -- to think that she got that and a book, and the only two people she knew at the party bailed on her, while her best friend was out saving the world, and her husband's probably having his own pity party and popping pills while wishing he never met her... It's not the way I'd like to spend my birthday, that's for sure!

She turned 18 in her season 4 birthday party, so I'm pretty sure she turned 22 in this one.

I felt bad for her. All the times she's been rained on, and yet again.... The happy ending is that she's grown enough to accept reality, and finding her true purpose (I hope) as Watchtower. She's my cupcake any time :)

Ahhh poor Chloe. That was depressing. I felt so bad for her. And when she got on her bed, I almost cried for her.

Well I guess, as parties go, one can do worse than Chloe's but let's facce it her friends and family bailed and failed her in various degrees and for various reasons, some bether than others! Oliver came and had to live due to hero obligations, Lois got an urgent assignment, and Clark decided to use his hero status as an excuse because he decided to believe Jimmys side of a story rather than give his faithful bestfriend of many years the benefit of doubt before judging her and bailing on her birthday! Nice going Clark!!!
Anyway, I think all three of them should get together and give Chloe a surprising 'make up for my neglect' birthday party!

I did not feel sorry for Chloe. I think she is a strong and understanding person. She knows that the people in her life have other priorities, just like a doctor or a super hero, maybe. They all have something special to do or else they would have been at Chloe's party: Lois had an assignment for work, Clark was doing super hero stuff and Oliver also had to go attend to super hero stuff. I think Clark only talked with Lois because she called him. If she had not called him he would not have called her. Chloe, like Lois (Superman's future wife) knows that she cannot always come first. LnC showed often how Lois had to push whatever she was doing with Clark onto the back burner whenever Clark had Superman duties. I think Chloe is like Lois will be with Superman in the future.

It was better than Clark's birthday in Oracle. Man, I felt so bad for him with all he lost & Brainiac parading around as Jonathan.

I agree, that birthday of Clark's was pretty gloomy, he got an IOU from Chloe for her gift, baseball tickets from his dead father, and a journal and a 3rd attempt at a rum cake made by Lois. Although the gifts from Lois were extremely thoughtful and showed she cared enough to attempt a challenge of baking 3 times for him...the mood itself was so somber and reflective.

Clark has super speed but couldn't make it? He couldn't swing by for two seconds? And then when Chloe says she's having a rough life (because she's working an unqualified job, siphoning freaks for Tess's league, watching her cousin get the life she worked toward since the age of 8, and her marriage was falling apart) Oliver tells her to STFU? Then Lois makes a tasteless ANVIL and goes off to chat with a friend on the phone instead of being there for her cousin? Who takes social calls when they're at a birthday party?

a) Clark was on a mission with Bart but he was thoughtful enough to send her a gift.
b) Lois was talking to her friends nothing wrong with that, she gave Chloe her cupcake, wished her a happy birthday. Then she had to leave for an assignment in Mexico and it wasn't a social call it was more like " STFU !! Boss for doing this to ME!!"/

The only problem I had with Clark was the fact that we find out later that he didnt have one....but 6....SIX, phone conversations with Lois that night, but he couldnt spare the time to pick up the phone and wish his best friend of 8 years a happy birthday.

Thats just cold....and Clark knew he messed up at the end.

Yeah I wish Chloe would have brought up the fact that he didn't even CALL in their last scene. It was actually really harsh of him.

Yeah, I had no problem with Lois' gift (Chloe could have gotten him something after all he did for her). But the mood was just bad. His father died, Brainiac was taunting him by taking the form of Jonathan, all that Lana crap was going on, and to top it all off he learned that Lionel caused Jonathan's death but yet forgave him (must have been a lot of rage building up even though he forgave him).

This story and Spell conflict with each other Chloe's birthday was early in Season 4. Now it's late near the end of the season 8,can't they keep continuity straight. I haven't watched Season 4 in 4 years and even I remember Chloe's birthday.
