Tess Mercer = Lex/Lionel Luthor Lite

Everything Tess has done so far this season seems to be a less interesting redux of Lionel and Lex from earlier seasons:

- Trying to gain Clark's trust as a friend and get him to reveal his secret (Lex did that)

- Frusterated with Clark's lying (Lex)

- Staging situations to reveal Clark's power (Lionel did that)

- Being used as a tool (Lionel used Lex)

- Troubled and abusive past (Lex and Lionel)

- Struggling between good and evil and then murdering someone brutally (Lex did that)

- Recruiting meteor freaks (Lex)

- Fishing for information from Chloe then making idle threats (Lex, Lionel)

- Betraying her boss and taking over the company (Lex did that)

- Trying to convince herself she's doing all this for the greater good (Lex did that)


The only unique thing she's done is slept with Oliver and kicked him out; though Lex pretty much did the same during his one night stand womanizing days..

Tess just seems like an excuse to rehash all the stuff already done with Lex and Lionel; only this time with boobs.

True. She's obviously brought in to replace the two missing Luthors and the writers should know better than that... but hey at least they aren't even try to hide it :lol:

She could turn out being his friend.I still feel her motives weren't clear.

She might be a rehash, but she's an interesting one, being played by a very good actress who has chemistry with the main character. I would rather have a character like Tess, being a Lex-proxy, then have some body double playing Scarface!Lex. Which is just an insult to MR.

Tess might be familiar, but she's a welcome presence at the SV table, IMO

ITA BAdToad.And the good thing is that since she is no DC character she could go either way.I feel that they have been rehashing a lot of things.Going by the spoilers i think that some upcoming spoilers are rehashing older ones.The Jimmy arc yesterday resembled Splinter.Infamous last week had some things in common with Reckoning.

I'll bet whoever they bring in to replace Tess (assuming Cassidy Freeman is not returning for Season 9) with be a rehash as well...

Well, she was obviously brought in to replace the Luthors, and yes, she has some similar elements to her backstory and modus operandi, but still, I think she's an interesting, multifaceted character in her own right, and I've enjoyed seeing her journey so far on the show.

Good post. I'm just not interested in her character at all. Lex is really missed IMO.
