I've always found him a little... eh. But tonight he practically carried the episode. I would have been mad at Clark not flying, except Jimmy Olsen made it interesting. Was anyone else as surprised as I was?

I agree. Everyone else in the episode, even Tom, kind of felt secondary.

Yeah, this was Jimmy's episode to shine in. :D Looks like Jimmy will be in at least three more episodes this season so that's cool.

Between this and Identity, it seems pretty clear to me that his performance in the last few seasons was the fault of AlMiles and directors. He made the episode worth watching.

This thread is kind of insulting. Of course he can act...

He've always being an amazing actor, is not his faull that he's been wasted as a love interest of boring Chloe intead of showing the greatness of Superman's future best pal. Don't you notice that he always used to shine when his arc doesn't involve Chloe?. He was great in Identity for instance.

I think part of that has to do with the upcoming episode that Tom Welling directed. Either way, I think everyone put forth some of their best work in this episode. I am a very pleased with tonight's episode... even if we didn't get the flight I was hoping for.

This was AA's best ep--I agree with those who say the showrunners finally let him act. He did carry the episode and beefed up Jimmy's usually pathetic character. Good job--let's see more of this

He did a great job. I always felt that he just didn't get chance to show acting chops because of the lack of character development Jimmy had. But with tonight's episode, Jimmy finally has something he can distinguish himself as rather than photographer... photographer with layers.

I just think he never got a chance to show off his real skill. Ever since he's been on the show all he's done is run around doing fist bumps and following after chloe like a love sick cow.

The Jimmy/Davis & Jimmy/Chloe scenes were really good. Interesting use of the score to really tie into the is it paranoia or is he the only one that can see the truth. I think AM choice though to play Chloe reserved, shocked, utterly in denial was correct though. She was just looking forward to getting Jimmy home and he had already written history the way he saw it. She had a lot to absorb and take, Aaron did a great job with that last scene. We knew he hadn't lost it, but the way it played to other people, they could perceive him as having snapped.

Tom Welling as the coach, been teaching Aaron Ashmore behind the scenes how to deliver the best lines to date.

Now the secrets out

Yeah I was very surprised, then pleased thinking Jimmy is finally headed towards becoming CK's new BFF. He needs a male friend in his life and Jimmy showed HE'S THE MAN last night. Before I sort of thought Jimmy was too much of a wimp and couldn't picture their friendship, now I can see them hanging out chasing leads etc.

AA gave a phenomenal performance, IMO.

He surely can. This was HIS best performance so far IMO.

He clearly shone in this episode, for certain, but I've thought he has pretty good acting chops for quite a while. I mean, I didn't really feel like he was on par with TW, MR, KK, JG, AM, and the like when he first appeared on the scene, but the more he's been on the show, the better he's gotten. "Turbulence" and "Identity" both have helped to make me fully convinced that Aaron Ashmore does portray a pretty awesome incarnation of Jimmy Olsen.
