Oh....my dear sweet Clark.
You couldnt have been more obvious if you tried!!
"Hmm....I wonder where Ollie keeps the good stuff."
Then, THREE bottles later (Which, that woman..must have the liver of a 500 pound man)
he cant understand why she isnt spilling her guts in a drunken stooper.
Just stick to the Kent charm, it works A LOT better! ;)

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one thinking this!
So, like, is Clark totally surrounded by women who can hold their liqueur? Or is Tess replacing Lois as the champion drinker?

You are so right! I think she kinds liked that he wanted to get her drunk though- maybe she was hoping for more than a lame interrogation.

was no one else a little put off by the fact that Clark tried to get her drunk to find out about what Lex told her? Not only that, but he choked off her oxygen so that she wouldn't see him save the day. Maybe its just me but those two acts seem sort of uncharacteristic..

I thought I was seeing things when I saw him twisting the tubing of the oxygen mask. But I guess I wasn't. What the hell was that? Tess even saw him doing it since her eyes were still open. He should have withheld her from the mask or better yet just tapped her. I'm surprised he didn't rip out a live wire and electrocute her & say "No one can ever know my name" again.

He could've kissed her to erase her memory like he did with Lois in Superman 2. Why not? He kisses everybody else.

I thought getting her drunk was harmless, and it proved to be commical...since apparently alcohol has no effect on her what so ever. That one back fired on him big time! :p
As for the oxygen, yes...I thought I was seeing things at first. My initial thought was "Maybe there's a kink in the line, and he's trying to fix it??" Then she passed out....:\
He seems very determined to keep his secret from her, but seeing who it is...not sure I can blame him.

I can totally picture a drinking contest between Lois & Tess with Clark saying 'who can ever hold their liqueur the longest gets me.'
Yeah....that one just totally backfired on him...she is a woman that can hold her liquor...lol
I am pretty sure Lois and Tess can beat Clark, oh wait he can't get drunk...
Yeah, he totally cut off her oxygen, i don't know about you guys, but that is not a Superman characteristic....

I loved that! I was really surprised Clark drank, since he usually doesn't (even though we all know it doesn't affect him)
I also thought it was hilarious that he didn't worry about offering his boss alcohol when they were going to a work function.
But you're right, Clark should stick to his charm and give up on trying to ply information out of women with alcohol :D

I liked it. This ep showed Clark growing more towards the superman thing but he still not there yet. It's hard for me to picture superman getting someone drunk to get information out of them. But it worked in this scene and it was funny.

Exactly, I was like who is this guy? (and he looked hot too) It was like Kal-el showed up. I was surprised he was smart enough to cut off her oxygen. Half the time he can't put two and two together to get four without Chloe.

What leads us to the next question, what is more dangerous for the patient, head trauma or aphixia? I'm sure a doctor will say both. Just look at what happened to Natasha Richardson after a head trauma but I guess in Smallville being constantly knocked out doesn't have any consequences.

I was thinking about this too. I wasn't sure whether cutting her oxygen was a "Supermanly" thing to do, as it's very dangerous. Too much and death occurs in a matter of minutes. And depriving the brain of oxygen can lead to a serious risk of brain injury which can be longlasting.
Minor head trauma sufficient to cause concussion is unlikely to lead to lasting damage in most cases, as long as the recipient of such an injury is monitored for ~24-48 hours for signs of major head injury, and immediately transferred to hospital. Although in NRichardson's case the PM showed arterial bleeding, which can quickly cause raised intracranial pressure and death, there can be a (small) window of opportunity that this can be dealt with surgically (dependent on the extent of the bleeding, site etc).
So my argument is; asphyxia is much more dangerous than MINOR head injury if the intention was to cause just concussion. And in emergency situations, preserving the Airway always comes first (ABCD) because lack of oxygen is the quickest mode of death.
That being said, this is a tv show so who knows about accuracy ;)? And Superman with his considerable brain power knows just how long he needed to deprive Tess of oxygen before any serious injury was done.:D

I'm not judging whether cutting off Tess's oxygen supply was the right thing to do or tapping her would have been the way to go. I guess the writers needed some way for her to be unconscious. However, once Tess was unconscious, Clark released the air hose. He didn't tie it off. The oxygen supply should have returned to Tess immediately and I think she should have resumed consciousness fairly quickly. Also, even after drinking a lot, she still appeared to have it together. So why she didn't start to fight back in some way or say something, because she wasn't getting air, I don't know. Therefore, that scene was not very believable to me.
I'm just basing that opinion from past experience. While white water rafting, I popped out of the raft on one of the rapids, and as the guide told us if it happens, just relax and start free floating. I did that. However, after I exhaled, I couldn't inhale. It felt as if something was squeezing around my torso. I remember thinking the life vest felt too tight while in the water and I started to panic. I also, remember telling the guide, "I can't breath. I can't breath," with the last bit of air in my lungs. I did black out, but not before grabbing the guide's oar. It seemed to take longer to black out than it took Tess. I don't remember actually being pulled out of the water. I do remember my raft mates grabbing onto me and pulling me back into the raft. So, I'm guessing I came to once most of my torso was out of the water. Later my husband told me, I turned bluish.

What an awful experience! I've had a hairy moment during white-water rafting too.:o. I'm glad you were okay.
The thing is, when Clark jumped out of the plane, he didn't take an oxygen canister with him. So Tess just had the mask and the re-breathe bag, without the oxygen supply, which seemed a bit pointless.. :\
But I'll stop nit-picking now!:D

I guess the show just likes to take liberties with reality - people get knocked out and are fine the next day, Shelby survives for months without food, Tess goes to a plastic surgeon to get the surveillance equipment out of her eye - anything's possible! -except Clark flying, that is.
And I think Clark thought to get Tess drunk because his only experience with drunk woman is Lois, who is quite free with her tongue (talking, I mean) when she's had one too many.

Yeah, if he was pretending to act like he was affected by all that alcohol, he certainly didn't show it. To me, it was even out of character for him to suggest they go on that little drink-fest in the first place; you would've thought Tess would be a bit more suspicious (though knowing her, she probably saw right through his ploy and was going along with it to try to make him relax and open up a bit more himself).

I actually thought he was being quite crafty. I think he'd pretty much had it with trying to out-guess whether Tess knew or not so he opted for the quicker way....
As for cutting off her air supply, I was very impressed with how quick he was....he just did it....he certainly didn't go "OMG Chloe, what should I do now?!!" He made her go unconscious, he blew out the door, and he jumped. THAT is what I was hoping for....Clark not hesitating and just saving....
I also laughed out loud at his "wardrobe malfunction" and you see a bit of blue under his dress shirt....and the change in the phone booth! Tremendous!
All in all, I liked this episode.

I laughed out loud when he went for the alcohol because it was so out of character. If he was hoping to throw her off the scent, he failed. I was thinking that's bright Clark now she knows you metabolize alcohol differently.
The cutting off of the oxygen supply was not so funny. He truly could have killed her. There were ways around it. She was staggering around on a plummeting plane after finishing off a great deal of alcohol. Couldn't she have just fallen and hit her head?

While I agree that drinking and then not acting drunk was probably not the best move on Clark's part, I can't help but think that Clark trying to act drunk would be kind of like a blind man trying to act like he could see. The man is already a terrible liar, and I'm willing to bet he's never experienced anything like being drunk before. He'd get it all wrong and that wouldn't help his case either. That's another reason why he really should have just avoided the alcohol situation altogether.

That scene was really funny, i was amazed at first but then I just wanted to laugh, Clark's idea was really hillarious!
But I don't buy the mighty girl power of Smallville -alcohol immunity thing, soon we'll learn that all girls of SV universe are immune to alcohol as Clark is, it is just funny to me :) it is medically proven that women get drunk faster than men, especially slim women (like Tess) - it is because of some juices in the stomach, of course there are exceptions - girls that don't get drunk easly, but in SV it doesn't seem as an exception now :)
Besides, how many bottles have they drunk? - if it was 3 (1,5 per head) there is no way Tess wouldn't feel anything in her head
