I didn't think the writers would be so stupid, so I held my faith strong and I was right thankfully.
Though I really do have to wonder, would Clark have actually done that? Hitting someone with a load of electricity like that could very easily kill them, but the fact that Linda Lake has a water ability means she was more likely to die! So why did he do that? Surely it would have been better to superspeed up to her before she could transform and knock her out with a tap to the head?

No, I didn't think he killed her. Chloe had explained earlier in the episode what electricity would do to Linda Lake. It prevents her from turning into water. It makes her solid.

It sure looked like he had killed her, but I figured that if they were going to have him do that it would have been way more dramatic.

Chloe explained earlier in the episode that it's the only thing that would affect her. He did what he had to do!

How? He could have sped up to her and knocked her out before she had the chance to go H2O on him. Also she turned into water during the electrocution so how did it prevent the transformation?

I thought it was ok to kill her since shes not really human.

Lol, yes she is...
So Clark should just kill metahumans then?
No, I knew he didn't because when he talked with Chloe, she said that the electricity was what they could use to keep her "solid", there was never anything about killing anyone.
Though, Thank you for that, Davis... We certainly won't miss her XD

I'm pretty sure he didn't kill her as she was alive in the next scene with Bloomsday.
EDIT: I should read topic titles more carefully

At first I thought Clark killed her too.
WHY did he do that to her? So she couldn't escape custody.
Here's how the writer(s) set everything up:
From being in the room beside her in Black Creek, Chloe found out how to neutralize Linda's ability using electricity so she told Clark. Then "reporter" Clark dug up enough dirt on Linda he was planning on exposing her crimes and have her arrested for them so Clark had to electrocute her so she couldn't turn into water and escape custody. That's why Linda was trying to get Davis to let her go cause this time she couldn't do her little trick to get away.

He emphasized a number of times that she belonged in jail. That's what he was aiming for. Very Supermanlike, if you ask me.

I thought he killed her. It was so cold and heartless.

Clark Kent wouldn't kill a cockroach.
Superman, if he is in a fight to the death, has shown he'll do what he has to (He 'killed' Doomsday, and might kill Darkseid). What he wouldn't ever do is execute. At least that's how I've always seen it.

I must say, I really thought he killed her. I mean, I didn't really believe it since the writers can't do that, they can't write Clark like that, it's against the rules, but when I saw his face after he said, "Nobody can ever no my name" my heart sank in my chest.
For a second or two, I really thought, OMG Clark killed Linda Lake in cold blood. That was such a menacing look he gave her. So very creepy.

Electricity doesn't work that way on water. Its high school science. The electricity should have killed her

Batman killed Darkseid. Superman just taunted him as he died.

I thought he killed her, but knew that he couldn't have, TPTB have never broken that rule.

Clark wouldnt kill anyone. If he ever did, he would immediately go into a horrible guilt trip that would tear the fabric of space and time in half.
I think there comes a point when a superhero must do what needs to be done. What kind of hero gives his enemies another chance to come back and kill him? Sounds more like a 3rd party to me.

I mean WOULD kill Darkseid. He never has, but Darkseid is someone who Superman might stop at nothing to conquer, because the consequences are too awful if he loses.

What I felt was a bit dumb, is why she Linda Lake so convinced that neither DD or CK would not kill her? You back a super being in a corner and don't think their might be zero repurcussions? DD don't take no crap though haha.

Clark broke into Linda's apartment without checking if there were hidden cameras.
Then he left his fingerprint in a cable used to administer an electrical discharge large enough to kill any normal human instantly, during 10 seconds.
Clark didn't have any way to know which amount of electricity was safe to use. For all we know the luthercorp facility may have been using 1.5V and a few mA.
If the Metropolis police was competent Clark would be charged for murder attempt or whatever is the equivalent in USA. Knowing that Linda was resistent to electricity is unlikely to help Clark just like knowing that someone wears a bulletprof vest is unlikely to help you if you shoot him/her and it's not self-defense.

I agree. His speed & reflexes are much faster than Linda's reflex to turn herself into water (they would need to be for him to run as fast as he does and process everything). He should have KO'd her with a super tap or frozen her water form with freezing superbreath (perfect episode to introduce that variation of superbreath) and taken her to the Arctic to permanently ice her.
