It was really good. I loved the return of Lois and all the awesome Clois scenes...the whole interview thing was so cool and funny at times too. Linda Lake was horrible. I hated everything about her including that lame power. WTF? Her clothes turn into liquid too? I liked the Davis/Chlavis in this episode too and I'm glad Clark is still more important hence the 'Stay away from him!' bit. It was really awesome to watch clark reveal his secret to the world and acceptance he was given at the beggining...nearly made me cry. And if it wasn't obvious enough, he is still an idiot. He just had to not go have that coffee with Lois. Geez Clark, with your reporter salary you CAN offord to by her at least a cup.

This is my first post and it's not going to be a nice one...
I gave this episode a 6. I mean seriously another "I tell the girl my secret and then it all goes wrong so I go back in time to fix everything" episode. I mean, he made the same mistake last time, despite his best efforts the situation went horribly wrong because he told his secret. There are two redeeming qualities for this episode;
1. Lois is back
2. Clark and Lois have fantastic chemistry, you can see it when Lois is trying to convince him to stay and fight
What did he think would happen if he had Lois scoop Linda Lake? That she would just go away? Hell she KILLED people in her last episode. Of course she's going to ruin him. I thought this was a smarter Clark... anywho...
With that... I am looking forward to CLois and Doomsday in the future episodes.

9/10. Liked it besides a few annoying aspects. Clark could have been better in the episode, but I've accepted him not being the smartest corn in the crop, lol.

Jade, great review, only one slight change: pretty please, Tom needs to direct an episode as well as Glen. ;)
And is THAT what Lois said? The sound cut out part of their exchange; now my mind is in the gutter right along with you. No Lakes allowed. Only Clois. :p
gave it a 10. I can't get enough of lois

I gave it a 10 because IMO SV redeemed itself with this epi...I'm proud of Clark...The writers found a way to truly redeem the Clark that we saw in The first 10 epis....I loved every bit of this epi.
The chemistry between TW and ED is amazing...every scene that they did together was nailed by the 2 of them...such heart wrenching scenes particularly the last one...It was amazing...The anguish...pain and fears that they both showed and finally the dawning of comprehension on Clark's face after that text...we finally see this side of vulnerability and the many insecurities that Clark has....The emotion and acting we got from ED was truly excellent IMO she absolutely nailed all her scenes as Lois...It was bril acting on ED's part.We finally see raw emotion from both Clark and Lois that has not been seen on SV for a long time...not since the beginning of S8
Can't wait for the next couple of episodes...:)

Awesome 9!! I'm not even a Chlavis-er, but that "Chloe and Davis-turning-Doomsday" scene was brilliant!!! And the Clois bittersweet ending!! I admit, I was in tears T_T

I gave it a 9. I might have given it a 10 if it were not for that whole scene at the end with the coffee. Also the part where Lois tries to tell Clark that Davis is Doomsday annoyed me, i mean Clark couldn't have waited 2 more seconds to put the ring on to hear her say that information? Overall I loved the episode though!

After the last three SUCK episodes with Lana, SMALLVILLE IS BACK. You know, If they totally erased the last three episodes, this season would be PERFECT.
This was AWESOME. WELCOME BACK SMALLVILLE. and THANK YOU.

Instead he seemed to waver. He'd gone that far so it was obvious he wanted to be there, but at the same time his insecurities held him back. His indecision was palpable and I really felt the emotion of the scene. What would have tipped it over the edge for me would have been if I'd known what was going on in his mind. Instead I was left with the feeling that it was easy for him to walk away at this point. That even their friendship didn't merit working on.
I enjoyed reading your post and agreed with 99% of what you had written.....lol...except for the above...because I thought it was pretty clear that Clark was torn & felt very badly....lying to Lois and not sitting down with her..
It was not..an easy decision for him to make...but CK did it...because he felt...he had to do what was best for Lois..even though he knew...it would hurt her...
You could see his mixed up thoughts and emotions...written all over his face...and we know he cares a lot about Lois & thier friendship....because he told Lois in the barn....she was special to him...no ifs ..ands ..Lana or buts about it.
The one I truly felt for in that scene was LOIS. Again she'd tried to reach out and again she'd been knocked back and having her reply to his text saying she couldn't make it either while we knew he was standing across the street from her? It was heartbreaking and humiliating at that point.
It was heartbreaking...and it did make me feel way more for Lois...than CK....but I dont think it was humilating...Lois is a very strong but....vunerable person.. and that...yin & yang parts her personality...hard on the outside...soft heart on the inside...is what so appealing about her....at least...for me it is.
Her text reply back to Clark...was not sentimetal ...it was typical Lois...even if her heart was breaking..she sure as heck....wasnt going to let CK know that....
Instead I have to remind myself he doesn't know how she feels.
lol Clark is slow when it comes to women & their feelings for him...... Lois telling him in the barn....." How could someone with X ray vision...be so blind"...was right on the money...but I think this time...Clark knows...or has a real big clue...in the ALMOST kiss in Bride...how Lois feels about him...and vice versa....afterall..it was CK...who grabbed Lois' hand for that slow dance..
All in all I understood the scene and could piece together why he was doing what he was and why, but I'm sorry - that's not my job. At least the figuring it all out part isn't. It's the writer's job to make it clear to me and so far, throughout the set up of this relationship, where Clark is at has been vaguely hinted at, alluded to, and obscure.
I see your point....but ...I think the writers...dont want to make thinks too obvious....and hit us over the head with what is going on in the minds with CK & Lois.....because..we already know.....their destined to be together...so their making things very subtle...and taking their sweet time... making us guess..if they really have feelings for each other or not....its a courtship dance right now..and things will not go...as quick or smooth between CK & Lois...as a lot of Clois fans might like.....we just have to hope...the writers do their characters and the acting talents of TW & ED proud!

Hi
Happy to hear that most of you enjoyed Infamous. I am currently prepping my last episode of the season, Injustice. Tom is directing and is doing a great job of course. Just wanted to thank you all for your incredibly faithful support. Though I don't often have time to read the forums regularly, when I do check them out, I am continually amazed at your loyalty, and the intelligence of your reviews. I am about to have a couple of months off, but I am very excited next year, I hope you are too. This is a great place to come to work every day !
Once again, you guys rock.
All the best
Glen Winter
Hi Glen! Thank you for taking the time to post. I just wanted to add that Season 8 has been an interesting ride so far and I'm glad I decided to watch this year. I'm particularly excited by the Chloe-Davis storyline. The Doomsday arc is tremendous and I'm looking forward to the finale.
Additionally, there has got to be room for one more journalist at the Daily Planet. How about pushing Chloe back to what she does best - writing and investigating! Here's to next season and to seeing more posts by you in the future. Good luck!
PS I'm still loving the Chlark! Thank you for Abyss and the Legion. They rocked!

EPISODE 15/ INFAMOUS
Introduction
After the crapfest that was Power and Requiem (Bar Toyman), Smallville returns after another month long hiatus with 'Infamous,' or as I like to call this episode… “Let’s pretend that SuperLana never existed," and you know what... that’s fine with me.
That’s not to say this episode didn’t have problems, because it did, mainly centred by the fact that 'Torri Spelling’s' acting has actually devolved since her awful appearance in the Season 6 disaster that was Hydro.
But at least, unlike Hydro, her role was limited to just being the villain and she never had too much dialogue, like she did back then, but when she did… by God she can’t act. Hell, there’s even a 'last time on Smallville' intro of Hydro just to remind us off how bad Torri Spelling is at acting.
There was of course the usual dumb “Clark Logic,” that I’ll get to later, and the fact that they’ve turned Doomsday into Hulk, although not a huge narrative obstacle, it’s perhaps more of a personal problem with that particular storyline.
Teaser
This episodes teaser was kind off confusing. This was because first we had Lois arriving via taxi to meet Clark after seemingly waiting alone for supposedly 3 hours at the airport... in the rain. Clark then, just arrives from seemingly nowhere (Although there was a Superspeed sound effect that I heard on the THIRD time of watching) saying that he was on a story?
Now I know they were going for, that Clark was late because he was saving people because it’s later referred to in the episode but remember Prey and that cool opening with Clark like saving everyone, why not do the same here because the scene just comes off as Clark being a jerk or if the special effect budget is that low why not just have him come on time or 20-30 minutes late because hours late seemed a bit stupid.
Also, Lois claims that she was waiting alone for hours in the rain???
Err, have you heard of shelters MAD DOG LANE??!!
Also, YOU WERE AT AN AIRPORT WHY WOULD YOU WAIT OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN YOU CRAZY DUMBASS!
Actually, now that Season 9 has been confirmed, MAD DOG LANE will be something I will call Lois every time she does something… well, MAD!
Clark then leaves Lois who goes off alone before Clark just hangs around??
Err, if she was waiting for hours why not just go home herself anyway?
Or maybe Clark could have called her and told her he was going to be very late, ok I know Clark’s stupid but what’s Lois’s excuse for not just calling Clark herself and telling him, “I can see you’re busy, I’ll just go home myself?”
MAD DOG LANE!
MAD DOG LANE!
MAD DOG LANE!
So, once Lois is out of the taxi she gets all hexed at him (pun intended) and straddles away. So why did Clark collect her from her taxi if she was more than capable of taking care of herself?
What the hell, the real reason for that scene was just so people could get excited about Clark and Lois meeting up... but hell with the logic and rationale.
Anyhow, the real reason Lois just walked off is so that we could have a scene between Clark and the watery Linda Lake, who somehow knew that Clark would be hanging around waiting for Lois's taxi, even though he was supposed to be waiting at the airport?
Even more remarkable is how these two characters talk as if they’ve met before because if my memory serves me right in Hydro that was a story between Linda, Lana and Chloe. Maybe a little bit of dialogue like Clark saying “Linda Lake? Chloe told me about you” or even better… “Linda Lake! How the hell you survive being run over… and how did you know I’d be hour’s late meeting Lois and also how the hell you know that she’d bother waiting all this time for me?”
MAD DOG LANE!
Ok ok, it’s actually all to do with Linda revealing that she knows that Clark is actually The Red Blue Blur and she is going to come out of hiding and reveal his secret to the world… DUH DUM DUH!!!!
Somebody Saaaave Me…
The Rest
Clark’s response to Linda Lake's threat, who by the way is a shamed reporter who has no credentials, is to say “Hell, why not expose myself to the world before she does?” I suppose that’s what a few episodes with Lana will do to a man’s brain. Indeed it’s Chloe, who’s thankfully back in character, who has to remind him of the danger’s of people knowing. But Clark, because he’s still recovering from Lana being a b@@** doesn’t listen.
Actually, I will defend Clark here because although his decision making can be seen by by many sometimes as being dumb, I'll defend him by saying that his unusual over trusting of people and his over positive way of looking at the human race, considering he is an alien, can make him at times more gullable and prone to silly decisions than your average joe! And hey he has put up with Lana since... well, forever!
There is an unintentionally funny scene where Davis was looking for dugs (For himself) and a Nurse walks in asking who Davis is and instead of saying “I’m a Doctor duh!” he comes up with some lame excuse that he’s been off ill for 3 weeks? Err, ok but what are you telling me? If a Doctor takes a three week vacation everyone forgets who he is? Please, that was just a silly way to present tension off the fact that Davis was taking drugs to try and control Doomsday, when there was no real tension.
Clark’s decided for some crazy reason to tell Lois his secret.
Actually, this scene was really cool and naturally done. Of course Lois doesn’t bye it at first but when Clark lifts up the desk and then catches her in her arms, I gotta admit that scene was grand.
Now here’s what’s confusing, Lois who also knows that Ollie is the Green Arrow, doesn’t object at all to Clark telling the world that he’s The Red Blue Blur and if this is the case then why has she never objected to telling the world that Ollie was the Green Arrow, actually WHERE WAS THE GREEN ARROW IN THIS EPISODE??
Again, maybe budget problems but Lois just being ok with publishing Clark’s story doesn’t make too much sense. It’s like story wise; they’ve gone from A to C but forgotten B.
Still, the ends do justify the means and the rest of the episode is cool, bar Linda Lake.
Clark being touted a hero by the people of Metropolis was cool, as was that little kid asking for his autograph and dressing in red and blue... AWESOME... Crazy girl jumping off ledge so that Clark can catch her... COOL! But of course as we all know in TV land happily ever after never lasts forever.
But then, oh my God… It’s a MIRACLE! Chloe’s visited her husband who’s in critical care in hospital, HALLELUJAH! Welcome back Chloe! Who seems to have been the quickest to recover from the “Lana Lang was in a couple of episodes Syndrome.”
She's actually and rightfully complaining that her husband had to be moved, although a Nurse explains that this was because he is THE BEST FRIENDS HUSBAND of the Red Blur... You know like Clark rescuing people and The Green Arrow, seeing Jimmy realise he was right after the events in Identity would have been cool... but oh well.
Just after this we have a just about useless scene between Chloe and Davis, who seemingly don’t get along??? I can’t remember that? Was that just before Bride? But they want to be friends and really this is just as boring as the Chimmy relationship and really does neither of the characters any good. Although this is really to press the fact later on that Chloe "Knows the alien" and Davis soon knows who "The Kryptonian" is.
Linda Lake as I said before, a shamed reporter, with zero credentials, tries to claim that Clark is an alien invader, who also killed the criminal Lex Luthor.
And everyone’s response to this 'shamed reporter’s'[i] claim is… [i]“Yeah and pigs can fly!”
Ha, nah, I was kidding but that’s what the response should have been.
But instead, everyone goes all crazy and believes every word of this shamed reporter and from thinking that Clark, who saved a lot of their asses like a zillion times, is a hero, they suddenly believe that he truly is an Alien Invader who killed multi-millionaire criminal Lex Luthor because a Shamed Daily Planet Reporter, who is wanted for murder by the way, said so!
Does this make any sense to anyone?
Still, the lady claiming that Clark wasn't there to save her husband was kinda cool! Sorry dear he was too busy moping in the barn over Lana I suppose.
Chloe also explains to Clark some info about Linda being restrained at Belle Reeve with electricity... so not only is Linda an accussed killer but she was in a mental assylum for Meteor Freaks? AND EVERYONE INCLUDING THE GOVERNMENT BELIEVED HER BECAUSE...?
Also, once Clark declares himself an alien... WHERE THE HELL WAS TESS?? Wasn't she after information about Lex? Wouldn't she do something? Also is Lex really dead? Which is something in no shape or form is something I have never ever believed... so wouldn't he have actually come out of hiding?
Anyway, the CIA, or this shows equivalent, soon burst into Clark’s place and ask some questions before instead of arresting or putting Clark on notice they decide to shoot bullets at him. Is it no wonder that aliens would never want to meet us for real if that was to really be our response?
Also… IF CLARK REALLY WAS AN INDESTRUCTIBLE ALIEN BENT OF RULING THE EARTH, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT TO SHOOT BULLETS AT HIM BECAUSE THAT WOULD GIVE HIM MORE THAN ENOUGH REASON TO WANT TO RULE THESE PUNY HUMANS!
So, Clark soon decides to use the ring that the Legion gave him to reverse time not before Linda Lake overhears him.
Lois gets herself in a little trouble with the CIA before Clark saves her... ULTRA COOL... she soon hears of his plan to reverse time and actually makes a good point that the situation might just calm down and people would eventually side with him.
Actually, I have to agree with Lois, other than Chloe, who in true TV drama finds out that Davis is Doomsday, before Clark reverses time, who else was really effected. And yes I know that Chloe died but she was already wanting to be "friends" with the guy and who is to say the same result wouldn't happen second time around. Also, all Lois did was what Clark told her to do… ok maybe she should have objected more but I agreed with her here. It just seemed like Clark was being a wuss.
Anyhow, before Clark can reverse time there’s some true TV Drama, sorry I meant crap, with Linda Lake, who somehow knew that Kryptonite could kill Clark, she makes an awful speech that I can’t remember, before Lois literally kicks her ass and although throughout the fight I was wondering why Linda doesn’t just turn into Liquid and smother Lois, I really couldn’t care cos the character, well, in truth the actress sucks.
Anyway, Davis tells Chloe that he's Doomsday and for zero reason Chloe is scared... I mean it's not like she doesn't already know an alien, ok I know he gatecrashed her wedding but maybe Clark could help somehow. Anyway Chloe legs it and Doomsday soon chaises Chloe. Chloe calls Lois and tells her that Davis is Doomsday and just as Lois is about to revel the truth about Davis to Clark... he reverses time. Oh boo hoo TV Drama.
Clark does what he should have done in the beginning when he reminds Linda that she is a shamed reporter who has zero credentials (I hope Clark actually remembers this in the future, when others come knocking at his door!).
Linda because she’s an idiot, says no, and Clark ELECTROCUTES HER!
I must admit, I thought he’d really killed her… ok, I would have myself giving her bad acting but come on… THIS IS SUPERMAN!
Ok, later on it’s revealed that she’s ok, but woah guys! And the fact that Torri Spelling's acting looked dead throughout this episode perhaps best explains this.
Clark is able this time to meet Lois on time... err what about the people you were saving Clark? Or was that a fib? Oh so that's why they didn't show him rescuing people now... it all makes sense. Ok, maybe in true Clark Kent comic fashion he CALLED THE POLICE.
So, Lois asks Clark out for a coffee cos they work together and Clark because he’s an ass decides not to turn up!
But Davis steals the show when he sees Linda who threatens to reveal Davis’s secret unless he turns into Doomsday and helps get her out of Belle Reeve!???
Err, but how will that help you Linda??
Doomsday is a crazed killing machine... what's he gonna do? Go bwwhhhaa and then release you from your restraints??
Well, actually I'm soon proved right... well, kinda because Davis kills Linda (Well, it's more a Bloomsday as his eyes were red before he turns back to normal after killing her). So the moral of that story was... Don't make Davis mad or he'll turn Doomsday on you!
Now Doomsday is officially Smallville’s Hulk, do I like it? Not really. Does it suck though? Admittingly no! And I gotta give the actor Sam Whittaker kudos, he’s doing well enough for me not to care.
Final Thoughts
Ok, maybe it seems I trashed this episode a bit but in truth when I reviewed it I diagnosed everything in the episode and yes although there are flaws, I still enjoyed it. In truth the biggest disappointment is that this could have been a great episode but instead it turned out to be ok, which although disappointing is certainly not bad.
Although, some illogical character decisions do drag this episode down a bit and make it, at times, difficult to watch.
To Conclude
Clark reveals himself to the world but soon wusses out!
Torri Spelling can’t act!
Doomsday is the Hulk but is still cool! Well, kinda cool!

I gave it an 8. There were a few things I didn't agree with.
1) What was keeping Linda Lake in the hospital? She was not contained by electricity. Doomsday shouldn't have been able to kill her. The restraints wouldn't hold a person that could change to water.
2) Clark would not have left Lois mid-sentence, unless it was for a reason.
3) Too many supporters for Clark right after he comes out. Yes, he has done some great things; but would the whole city rejoice finding out an Alien was living among them. There would be some people afraid of him. This should have been reflected in the scene where he comes out.
But, overall the episode was solid. Much better than the Lana infected drivel we had to live with for the last few episodes. I also feel Chloe was TOO easy on Clark, didn't she say something in one of the first eps this season with Lana to the effect, 'don't hurt Lois.' Now he is going to take away her memory of who he really is. I would think she would push a little more that just question his motives in ONE statement.
PS -- Sorry about my dislike of the latest Clana eps. It just seems he was moving on then he does a 180. They did try to make it believable, with him trying to remember why they broke up the last time. And they also tried with the revelation that the DVD was coerced. I don’t hate Lana, I just can’t believe a man would go through all that drama with his ‘girlfriend’ and keep letting her walk all over him.

I give it an 8. I enjoyed everyones acting except Linda. Erica continues to blow me away, and I also enjoy Sam's portrayal of the character. The episode was solid, I definitely felt is was much better than the last few eppies with that LANA character. THANK HEAVENS Smallville has the power to redeem itself.
I have only three what the heck's for this episode:
Why would Davis go and talk to Chloe KNOWING he was about to transform? She was minding her own business, and wound up having to run out of her own darn place JUST BECAUSE Davis doesn't know how to send a message via text!!! That's RUDE!
Why did Clark cut Lois off and shove that dag on ring on?!! Even more RUDE! He could have waited 2 seconds to figure out what the heck she was saying? It wouldn't have hurt since he was going back in time anyway!
Did Linda Lake really think DOOMSDAY would help her get out?!!! WTH? Imagine Davis transforming, then Doomsday seeing her, like "HEY!! let me get those cuffs for you there buddy!!! LOL heck no! He would have crushed her without second thought!
I'm glad that Clark bailed in the last scene though. Well, of course not glad, I love Clois, but I understand why the writers want to have their relationship SLOWLY progress...Clark needs time to sort things out, and I'm ok with it.
I'm excited about the series again!!! Its Almost as if those last crap-filled episodes don't exist!!!

I really enjoyed the epi. I've been counting the days (along with everyone else I'm sure) since bride. My fav part was the conversation in the barn with ck and lois. "How can someone with x-ray vision be so blind". I just wanted Lois to shake Clark. Though I'm sure it's safe to say that how Lois accepting Clark in this epi is the reason he will fall for her. If anything this is the one thing Clark should learn out of this whole coming out thing, is Lois' feelings for him. Also, I know this has been said a million times throughout the threads, the chemistry was great. I go back to the barn scene. ED's and TW'S acting was excellent. Those two work so well with each other. Good stuff.

This episode left me frustrated. Why did Clark decide he could never tell Lois? She handled the news quite well. She did exactly what he asked, and she defended him.
Why did he not have coffee with her, even when he saw her sitting there alone, trying to conceal her hurt?
Seriously, could one report from someone like Linda Lake turn around years of hatred for the Luthors, and turn everyone against Clark? Yeah, right. More likely that the people would turn against HER, in an effort to defend Clark, their hero. That was just really lame.
There was a lot of good in it, though, but I just hated the end. It's bad when the end is so bad that it ruins your view of the whole thing. I can't stand Tori Spelling. Her acting is pathetic. I'm glad Davis killed her off.
BTW, the scenes with Davis, especially where he was fighting off the beast, were excellent!

Because, all too often, this (another BDA moment) is the plot device the writers use to forestall Clark's development in Superman.
Note to writers: Contrary to conventional wisdom, what killed LnC was not their wedding. It was the increasingly stupid plot devices they resorted to in order to postpone it (i.e. frog eating clones).
Either use better writing/plot devices to postpone Clark's development, or stop stalling. And, whatever you do, please no more BDA! Maybe a banner that reads "SUPERMAN IS NOT STUPID (AND CLARK'S NOW TOO OLD TO BE)!" posted in the writer's room will help.

Nancy Grace: Hello gang. Breaking news: There are elliens- yes, elliens among us. I'm here today with the woman who broke the story to discuss everything you have heard and everything you haven't. But first, allow me to welcome back a friend to the show. He's the respected bounty hunter Leonard Padilla. Hello Leonard.
Leonard Padilla: Well now thank you, Nancy. It's great to be here.
Grace: And now without further ado, joining me from Metropolis…that's a Canadian word, kids. The Daily Planet reporter who got the scoop. Her name is Loan Lane, but most fans know her as the Alien interviewer. Loan Lane, welcome to the show.
Lois Lane: Hi, Nancy. Did you just call me Loan?
Grace: (ignoring the question) OK Loan, let me ask you a question. Aliens.
Lois: OK. Go ahead.
Grace: That it. Aliens. Now speak.
Lois: Not really sure what you want me to say, Nancy.
Padilla: Nancy. Nancy. If I may, I was online earlier and I read on a very well respected ufo website - alienballs.edu - that five years ago, Clark Kent would spray an atomizer full of alien vapors into high schoolers? Those are people, Nancy!
Grace: Loan, your thoughts?
Lois: That didn't happen. I don't even think that's possible.
Padilla: (turning red) Oh! It's possible. I saw pictures of him spraying people. Teachers quit on site. It was a travesty!
Lois: Yeah, I'm going to say that was photoshoped. I don't even think it's possible to spray…what did you say it was? Alien vapors?
Grace: But, Loan, isn't it odd to you that this Alien, is being brought up in all this? Went to Smallville High. And, of course, he's the father of resistance leader John Conner.
Lois: That's not true.
Padilla: He's right, Nancy. The alien never went to Smallville High.
Lois: Well, actually he did. I was saying that…
Grace: A ha!
Lois: No. I mean, that part is true, but the part of him being his father isn't. Clark's real last name isn't even Conner.
Grace: Oh. OK. Well then let me ask you this. If he's so innocent then why does he have to use a fake name?
Lois: Fake name? What? No. I meant that it's impossible. John Conner is a fitional character who is actually older than Clark.
Grace: (into camera) In case you're just tuning in, the story is aliens fathering babies who are older..than..him. Standing by is his interviewer, Loan Lane. Loan. How can a alien even afford to buy a baby diapers for the future? I'd think he would have a hard time making ends meet.
Lois: What are you…?
Padilla: (jumping up) I've been saying it for days that aliens should stop stealing diapers and the authorities didn't believe me. It's just wrong.
Grace: The question's to you, Loan. Diapers. Tell me.
Lois: Tell you what?
Grace: Where did you steal your diapers from?
Lois: (pausing for a moment then grinning) Am I on a hidden camera show?
Grace: Folks, in case you're just joining us, we're standing by with Loan Lane. She was once a professional reporter, turn furistic diaper stealer.
Padilla: Oh! Oh! Nancy. She's not going to give you the answer to that. No one will. It's a big cover-up. If you would, I would like to show the audience my exclusive footage I obtained earlier today. This goes far deeper than just the alien reporter. I paid a visit to a patient by the name of Jimmy Olsen. Ring a bell, Lane?
Lois: (holding her head) Oh God. No.
Grace: Why can't I see anything.
Padilla: You have your finger on it.
CUT TO: Metropolis General. A camera is facing a closed door.
Jimmy: Are you serious? Are you serious? Dude I'm in the bathroom.
FADE BACK TO: Studio.
Padilla: As you could see Nancy, an obvious ploy to conceal the truth.
Lois: ....
Grace: Leonard, I just don't understand what is WRONG with these people. Covering for aliens I can understand, But wha about the needs of the child. I mean am I off my rocker here!? I mean HELLO, HELLLLO. Caller, you're on.
Caller: Hi Nancy. Love the show. I was wondering if you could ask about the restroom arrangements affected by the aliens. I mean, I don't know how comfortable I would feel if I were doing my hair in the mirror and an alien walked into the restroom cocky-like and stared at me as she used the heat dryer. I'd feel exposed.
Gracy: Now there's a point that no one is bringing up. Long, your thoughts.
Lois: That couldn't be serious question.
Padilla: (rolling his eyes) Ha. You're really prepared for this interview.
Lois: I wasn't aware that I would be asked about Restroom arran…
Nancy: This is slowly turning into a big mess. What?! (holding her ear piece) Kids, I've just received word that joining us from our affiliates WDAM in Warner-Robbins, Georgia is Long's friend, the Alien himself- Cark Lent. Dent, welcome to the show.
Clark: Ma'am.
Grace: (fake sincerity) Lent, all of us here are on pins and needles wanting to hear what you have to say. What.. is your message.. to the world?
Clark: Damn! Sam slammed canned ham an' outbran in Iran.
Lois: (laughing) I wish you could save me from this interview, Clark. How's things with you?
Clark: Stan! Cart-MAN!
Lois: Exactly. So you tell her.
Clark: Bam! Bam! Clam tam!
Lois: (nodding) I know. I know.
Clark: Can-Am. Auntie Anne's. Lamb! Yam! Flim Flam! Uzbekistan!
Lois: That's what I said!
Grace: Hold on. You understand this?
Lois: Yeah, I'm fluent in English and Clarkaldese.
Grace: What are you suppose to be? His translator?
Lois: (cold glare) Lady, I'm gonna whip your ass.
Grace: (into the camera) Folks, we're here with Loan Lane and Car Dent. The big story today - Aliens. Are they worse than Paul Hogan? That question is up on our website. Log on now and answer. Before we go, I want to thank our guests. Leonard, thank your for joining us.
Padilla: Hello….Oh wait. You say that at the beginning.
Grace: Loan, we appreciate you joining us. Good luck in your quest.
Lois: I…am just amazed right now.
Grace: Mr. Ken, welcome to our Planet. I understand you'll be getting your own show here next month.
Clark: A.M. P.M.!
Grace: Thank you. Up next, kids. John Stamos will be here to talk about Paris Hilton's poetry. But what is he not saying? Stay tuned.

Oh it could happen. You know it can. Just remember that you heard it here first. Well its Saturday, and I'm in a good mood. That can only mean that there was a new episode Smallville with Lois in it. Lets get it started.
Previously on! Clark got owned by a photo. Linda Lake intimidated a computer. Evil water appeared out of nowhere. Chloe took up valuable Brainiac time. If a kiss doesn't happen and everyone saw it, did the kiss really happen? And Oliver knows Clark's needs.
We open at the Daily Planet. Funny, it looks different after virtually not seeing it for 5 episodes. Its raining Lanas and dogs when a cab pulls up out back. An agitated and drenched Lois steps out of it, kicking the door shut with a thump. Every DP worker should have dropped what they were doing and bowed then and there. Making matters worse, as she turns to head toward the back entrance this rude cab splashes her with more water, soaking her. Wait.. I get it. Ha ha I get it. Sly devil. A whoosh is heard as Clark starts jogging toward Lois.
"Are you kidding me?" - Lois' first words upon seeing Clark, 7:01 PM. Oh, Lois. Oh, Lois. You don't know the half of it!
Lois gives Clark an ear-fill about his tardiness in picking her up from the airport. Clark apologizes but sorry isn't cutting it for her. As she tells him about having to wait for three hours in the rain, her suitcase opens and out drops her cloths into the rain. Because I'm very <S>weak</S> thorough, I paused and checked the clothes that fell out. Nope, no personals, fellas. Clark feels bad about things and tries to make it up to her by carrying the smallest suitcase, but she snatches it from him and marches toward the entrance. Clark tries to explain why he was held up, but Lois shushes it, telling him that she understands why he wouldn't prioritize her. Lois wait! I'll make you a priority good and plenty! Good opening.
As Clark gives his puppy face, we zoom in on a drain with water pouring out of it. Out of nowhere Linda Lake appears and the dialogue is, wow, hide your children folks.
"Clark Kent. He can save a city in the blink of an eyeeeee. But when it comes to ladies, the Red Blue Blurrr still drives withthebreakson." -Linda Lake, in what had to be the single worst delivered line in Smallville history, 7:02PM.
You've got to rewatch how she said it to truly appreciate how horrible she is. Who the hell OK'd this??? Clark wants to know whats the dealio and Linda goes all villian-y on us by giving her sappy life story, followed by a threat. It seems she wants her fame back and will use Clark to get it. Oh she wants to start a fashion line of red jackets? No? Dammit. It turns out her evil plan is for him to supply her with stories about his rescues, or she'll release his newly printed life story to the press. Clark goes to grab her but she morphs into water and goes down the drain. Down the drain huh?Symbolic?
Opening Credits. It just makes me shake my head that even in the credits, greenK is everywhere.
Mrs. Sullivan, we have very high standards for our substitute teachers here at FDR Elementary School. Is there anything you can bring to the table as it relates to your ability to deal with children.
After my counseling they become evil.
Alrighty then. We'll be in touch.
Kent farm. Chloe walks into the barn asking to borrow some dvds for Jimmy. Oh wow, she remembered him. Clark tells her Linda Lake is back and Chloe says that she 'thought that water snake slithered back into her swamp'. If one of my friends ever talked like that I'd run them over in my car. Not content, she also said that 'the H20 obviously went to Linda's head'. Are you kidding me here? Clark tells her he's going to out himself and its time for your usual Chlark scene. He wants to do, she doesn't want him to do it, rinse, repeat. I like that Clark seems hopeful that he can be accepted, but this of course will blow up in the face.
Met General. A nurse unlocks a door to the stock room but finds and find Davis in there. His pockets are stuffed full of drugs and he's just standing there staring at the drugs, looking suspicious. He introduces himself but the nurse doesn't recognize him and wants an explanation. Nurse, you couldn't handle the truth! Really, you couldn't. He claims to be restocking his truck and shows her the drug. 'Oh of course! Duh!' she thinks. A guy restocking his truck with anti-pyschotic drugs is just totally understandable. She apologizes then walks out, leaving Davis to himself.
Daily Planet. Now this is where is at! Clark admires Lois' ability to hand out books, then with a deep breath approaches her desk. When he asks for a moment of her time she gives him the cold shoulder. Oh snap! He tries again and she brings up the airport no-show. Finally he just ups and asks her to write his story. Lois scoffs and walks over to a copier, still ignoring him. When Clark insists, she hears him out. Upon hearing that he's the blur her reaction is similiar to mine when I was asked to attend a family reunion, only she didn't add "I'd rather be committed" to the end of it. Anyhoo, Clark follows her into a room, explaining a couple of strange events in her life. Lois thinks he's drunk but her tune changes when he lifts a desk.. with her on it. And with one hand to boot. I often do the same to impress chicks at the grocery story. Only I pick up two 2-liter sodas and curl them while counting 1001..1002..
Clark holds his stance, then drops the desk and catches Lois in his arms. The score is fantastic as they stare at each other. Fantastic iconic scene here.
Commercial Break. If you can "taste the rainbow," you've been popping something a lot stronger than Skittles.
Still at the Daily Planet. And Lois is locking the door. I like where this is going already. But then she turns and gives that "thinking" look where a woman folds her arms and gets all sorts of ideas in her head. Those looks usually don't turn out too well for me. Even Clark's unnerved at it. Luckily she's astounded in a good way. She seems more shocked that she pegged him wrong. When Clark moves toward her she jumps a little, but he assures her of his motives. She asks him why she's the first one he's told but he corrects her by telling her about those other two characters that know. I forget their names sometimes, or at least I want to. Lois asks about his powers to which he names them off in a pretty cool way. When he mentions that he can blast fire from his eyes she jumps to her left a little, and when he mentions being able to see through solid objects she covers her herself as if its an invite. Oh Lois, Clark is like the last guy on the planet you need worry about when it comes to looking through women's clothes. Now things containing pies - oh he'll look through that. When Lois questions her investigative instincts he gives his trademark "the important thing now is that you know now" line. Then adds some sugar to convince her to write his story. She accepts, and I smile. This is my second favorite scene of the episode here. I just can't stop smiling at it.
Lois' interview is front page, as Clark checks it out at a news stand on that street in Metropolis. People just can't keep their eyes off his hair and he's liking the attention. The store owner gives him the paper for free, then gives a good-guy inspirational speech. Clark's jacket is nudged and he turns to see this kid in this ridiculous circus outfit. I bet he thinks its just the coolest thing eva to be in that jacket and blue shirt. But when he grows up, his friends are going to laugh their faces off. Anyway the mini-me asks Clark for an autograph to which he is given one, alone with Clark complimenting his choice in clothes. I have no words. People everywhere take out their cell phones and snap photos, while others applaud. S.U.V guy honks his horn as he drives by, and this deranged teenager tries to commit suicide to get Clark's attention. Clark, let me speak from experience, STAY AWAY FROM HER. When Clark saves her she kisses him and then poses for pictures taken by her Hannah Montana friends, as a crowd gathers. A geeky guy freaks out over Clark catching her and Linda appears. Oh, joy. Clark's ruined her fun, and now she's going to ruin his in a more funner way. Yes, I meant to write it like that. More water effects and the scene ends with Clark surrounded by fans. Another great scene.
Met General. Chloe wants to know why her husband is being denied a room at the hospital. Dammit. I lost just lost 10 bucks. I bet someone that she wouldn't even say the word 'husband' in this episode. The nurse complains that there is too much media attention to allow it. When Chloe wants to know why the nurse clues her on the fact that she is now famous. She sees Davis and runs after him. Greetings are exchange and then she wants "talk" about what last happened between them. Davis thinks its about the Chloiac stuff but she wants to talk about their kiss. He lies and says he was giving her space. She wants to put everything behind them but he can't do that. Man I'm getting sick just typing this. Since they can't be just be friends, she walks away. Smartest decision she's made all season long, but to be fair she's only had like five smart decisons all season. Pretty good scene between them.
Another nurse comes over to Davis gushing about his knowing Chloe. When Davis asks why thats so wonderful, she shows him Lois' article. Now he knows Clark's a Kryptonian. Not good!
Cue the Daily Planet...
Yessss!!!
With Linda Lake.
Noooo!!!
Daily Planet. Just when I get excited its snatched away from me. A wanna-be Fox Mulder is leaving his office and there's Linda again. After the guy smacks talk her, she insults the newspaper but wants him to run her newest story. Yeah.. because insulting people is the best way to get them on your side. The editor locks his door and walks away from her. Linda follows with some crap about her articles having more hits than the Chicago mob and that her name was once feared and revered.
OK, pause. (turns toward the monitor) Children, let Uncle Cedric give you some life advice. If you go around talking like Linda Lake just did, or the way Chloe has for the last eight years, people will laugh at you. Not with you, at you. Puns and catch phrases have their place, but saying them every three minutes will piss people off. That is all.
Back to the episode, when Linda mentions that the story is about the alien the guy decides to listen. Why didn't she just say that in the first place I'll never know. Meh, scene.
Commercial Break. That girl who uses Clearasil Ultra really doesn't look all that different on day 3, does she? Is it just me?
Kent farm. A huge crowd has gathered outside Clark's home, including the media. There's Chloe, again. Someone asks her what it is like having an alien for a best friend but she declines to comment and continues on. Inside the house Clark is on the phone with Martha. Yes! She's aliveeeee! The Senate forced her to leave her post after Clark came out with his news. Thats messed up. Clark hears a knock on the door. Don't open that door Clark! Dammit! There's Chloe again. Lois got promoted to Editor and Clark got a penthouse office? Sweet. Their convo is interrupted by a TV interview about protesters. This was the funniest moment of the episode for me. First, its titled "A Mother's Anguish", and the lady is even holding her kid for extra sympathy. Then she starts whining and choking up about Clark not saving her husband from a crane that collapsed on him last week. It just kills me every time ha ha. I'm biting a sandwich right now as I watch it. Yep, I'm going to hell.
Chloe mutes the TV then tells Clark that she found out that Linda's weakness is electricity. We then see Linda having a press conference where she tells everyone that Clark is part of an alien invasion.
"When it rains, it pours" - Just STOP it Chloe! STOP!! Its NOT FUNNY anymore!! We get it! She's made of water! STOP!!!, 7:31 PM.
Linda tells the press that the real hero of the world was Lex Luthor, and that Clark killed him. Close-up on Clark as his world comes crashing down. Chloe tells him to run but he's wants to stay and tell the truth. She exits out the back door, I take a sip of Sprite, and Clark walks onto the porch. Everybody wins.
Commercial Break. Only in America do we need Subway to tell us that a sandwich has less fat than a double hamburger and French fries. Next they're going to dazzle us with the fat difference between a glass of water and a glass of lard.
Yes! You are pretty. You are so pretty! Oooo! You're so pretty!
Uh….Mr. Kent. You're up.
Oh! Wow. How long were you standing there? You didn't see….
No, Mr. Kent. I didn't see you talking to your hair again.
Ah good. Ha ha that would have been embarrasing!
Clark's in the kitchen answering questions to a Fed. Clark denies what Linda said but Agent Douchebag has bought everything hook-line-and sinker and wants to know who Clark is "working with". When Clark mentions his mission he brings up Lois and the crimes she could be charged with for knowing his secret. Clark has Lois' back but Agent Douche is just getting started with threatening. After mentioning Chloe he brings in more backup to force Clark into being tested. Of course! Because who doesn't like being experimented on, idiot. When Clark resists they open fire on him and Martha's poor dishes. Having enough of this, Clark leaves. OK scene. The special effects for the bullets were cool but can this show you make you dislike authority figures or what?
On the road Clark chases down Chloe's car and tells her leave town Smallville for good. I'm not that lucky, Clark. Chloe turns up the radio and there is an announcement for the manhunt on Clark.
"Authorities are on a statewide manhunt for Clark Kent. He is considered dangerous, unpredictable, and without remorse. Grandville county has issued a mandary curfew at 9PM and urges all families with small children to stay indoors at all times." - Radio announcement, 7:39PM.
This is so cheesy its funny. So Clark's going to harm children now? And he has no remorse? They can't be serious. So without any proof, the government just accepts the word of the Wicked Witch of the West, minus the green makeup? Come on now.
Instead of driving away like Clark asked, Chloe gets out of her car and pulls Clark over to talk. Why? Because as I said, I'm not that lucky. She wants him to turn back time but he says that Jor-El went missing after the Chloiac fiasco. Well isn't that convenient, show. He remembers the Legion ring and wants to use that. Chloe flip flops on him in the middle of the argument and acts worried about the consequences of time travel. This, after she was the one who asked him to go to Jor-El. Close-up on Linda grinning about Clark's ring. Oh, dear.
Daily Planet. Lois leaves Clark a message vowing to fight back against the rumors Linda is spreading. Is she awesome or what? Editor jerkface tosses a paper at her and gives this smartass remark. Lois reads the headline which calls Clark a murderer and has Clark's photo with a horrendous photoshop job of Lex next to it. Lois gets up and storms toward the elevator. When she makes it there, who else but Linda Lake is standing there. Just how the hell is she everywhere in this episode? Does she have superspeed? Lois rolls her eyes and tells her that reporters need proof and she's on her way to Tess' to squash Linda's story. This.. oh no she didn't just give Lois the hand-to-face, then brags about talking with Katie Couric. Linda, if you checked out CBS Evening News the last couple of years you'd know thats not much to brag about anymore. Lois scolds her for her rumor mongering then gets off at her stop. Linda turns it on Clark, but Lois sticks to her guns. Linda does get in a good line about folks loving to tear heroes down. Unfortunately thats true.
Lois marches to Tess' office but Agent Douche is in there with SWAT members. He claims to just want to talk but when she wants to see a lawyer he has his guy draw a taser. What the hell is wrong with this guy? First he lost his hair, then he lost mind. Clark saves Lois and speeds her back to the barn.
Lois thanks him but tells him to leave town. Clark tells her that all of this will be over soon and Lois asks how, telling him that nothing he can say could surprise her. He stops on a dime and tells her he can go back in time. Ha ha, how was that mind-trip, Lois? Have some ice cream. Clark goes for the toolbox and admits the world isn't ready to accept him as is, but Lois urges him to stay and fight to clear his name. Although I understand why he wants to redo things, i'm a little disappointed in Clark here. He's accepting defeat and looking for a way out. Lois is willing to fight and die for the cause but he doesn't want to risk it. Lois bares her soul. At first she indirectly tells him how much it meant to her to be special and stand out with him. Then she tells that if it had been anyone but Clark she may have felt differently, but Clark stops her from continuing and says he understands and gets it, but she tells him he doesn't. She's right, he doesn't. Because what she was trying to say, in her own way, was that she's in love with him. And thats why she wanted him to stay.
"How can somebody with X-ray vision be so blind." - Lois Lane, 7:44 PM. Oh I've heard that a lot Lois. Wait, no I haven't.
She continues and tells him that she's ran from heroes in the past but this, with Clark, is different. Clark tells her that it will be different after he turns back time. Clark, come on now. She doesn't want to come out and just say it, but dude come on. You have to know what she's trying to say. Lois asks him if he won't re-tell her his secret after the restart and he answers no. She says its OK, and asks why should she be special to him, then says she understands. Clark, just as Lois just did, tells her that this time its she that doesn't understand. He smiles then says that he won't tell her because she is special. OK, maybe he isn't clueless afterall. And you could see how much that meant to Lois too. Nice play by the writers in this scene. I wish they would have given Clark one more line to say, or had them kiss, or both. But even still, I feel like this is the deepest talk Lois and Clark has ever had on this show. And this was the best scene of the episode for me.
Clark walks over the toolbox but falls down at the presence of kryptonite. Lois follows and gets a board to the back. Linda's mug is shown again on a close-up. Come on show, I'm still eating.
Commercial Break. I rented a movie from Blockbuster titled "The Missing" but was disappointed after I saw it. I thought it was about Jimmy.
Isis. Just what was Chloe doing in there? Anyway Davis stumbles in there and looks creepy as hell. Chloe rushes him over to a seat as he tells her that he no longer can control the beast within, not even with the pills. He tells her about the Chloiac experience and that he was told his destiny was to kill the other Kryptonian. Davis' breathing is insane here. Chloe is pretty paranoid at hearing Davis' mission and asks him what other Kryptonian he was speaking of. Davis admits that he is Kryptonian and that he was sent to kill Clark. Finally figuring out that he's Doomsday she tells him not to stay away from Clark. Davis asks her to warn Clark, and says that he realizes that what has drawn him back to Smallville wasn't her, but Clark. Dude is going insane here. He shakes and his eyes turn blood red. He warns for Chloe to run and his skin starts to morph as the score amps up. Chloe runs out of the building and calls Lois' cell phone to ask her to tell Clark about Davis being Doomsday. But when she makes it to her car, Doomsday is already on her and rips open the door and.. my guess is that something beautiful happened. You know what? I liked that scene. It was eery and everything I've wanted from Davis and Doomsday. They linked him with Clark in a big way, and he wasn't woobie over Chloe. And ya know, I actually felt sorry for him not being able to control what he was feeling. Good scene.
Kent Farm. Chloe's message made it to Lois, but she's knocked out on the ground. Linda taunts Clark with the ring and how the world turned on him. Then tells him he's old news and how she will use the Legion ring to go back in time and break stories at a record pace for fame. What she didn't know was that there was a 115 lbs ass-kicking machine who had awaken and heard what she said. Lois springs up and charges at her, knocking her and the ring over a table. Linda picks up a board and tries to hit Lois but its futile. What follows was the worst one-sided beatdown on the show. I haven't seen something take that many hits since Street Fighter: the Legend of Chun Li! Lois rushes over and disposes the green-K, then checks her phone message as Clark runs for the ring. She calls out for him and was about to tell him that Davis is Doomsday but Clark put the ring on and went back in time.
That was a very big mistake. I was besides myself when I saw it the first time. Dammit Clark, why didn't wait for 5 more seconds. Ugh.
Anyways, its 2 days earlier and Clark speeds toward whatever shack Linda was living in. She was in the process of typing up his story when he comes in. He tells her she won't run his story, and Linda snarks at him knowing about it beforehand. Clark apparently has super-typed up all her crimes and tells her she's going back to jail. Linda doesn't think so but, well, Linda just doesn't watch this show. Clark rips a power line from a generator and Linda just stands there as he electrocutes the bad acting out of her. Close-up to Clark saying that no one can know his name. It was OK as far as climaxes go. Shut up Cedric.
Commercial Break. On the next Oprah! "But I love my wife!" Ladies, does your husband only give you love? Not satisfied? Want to make him feel like trash? You can be a guest on our show! On the next Oprah!
Hey Lois. We're up.
OK. Thanks.
Hey. Are those space pants you're wearing? Because your ass is out of this world.
What?!
Nothing. Nothing. I'm sorry. I'm sorry....you go ahead without me. I have to go. Something suddenly came up.
Daily Planet. Back entrance again. But this time around Clark made it a priority to pick Lois up at the airport on time, then drove her home, and is carrying her suitcase while she has the umbrella. Good job Clark. Clark asks if he mentioned that he missed Lois' banter and she says that he hasn't said much on the way home, or even on the voice mails messages he left her.
"Lois, you know, after the wedding things got a little crazy" - Clark Kent, 7:53 PM.
"Thats for damn sure." - myself, seconds later.
Lois's mouth gets ahead of her brain as she brings up the almost kiss. She stops and turns but its too late. She tries to get out of it and suggests that they just forget it ever happened. Clark says that it would be a complicated conversation to have, and he says it in a way that he seems to almost want to talk about it but is afraid to. Lois says she'll be at a cafe later and if he wants to come by to talk about things that its OK but if not thats OK too.
Let me break it down for you fellas. When a woman gives you two choices and says that both are OK, she's lying through her teeth and one of the choices is definitely not OK. Don't listen to her! Think and choose wisely or there will be hell to pay. Clark seems to realize that he's been given a big choice here, concern is over his face. When she leaves he's deep in thought.
At that news stand in Metropolis Clark buys Chloe a coffee as she gushes about how awesome it must have been to be a icon. Clark downplays it but says that there was one moment after he told Lois his secret that he thought everything would be OK and that he could live freely but was wrong. Chloe then says that he could have it and suggests he wears wears red and blue when doing his heroics while keeping up business attire when he's a reporter, creating another identity.
(Looks at La Donna) See, this.. this.. this is what I'm talking about. WHY does SHE need to tell him that? Why can't HE think for himself? I'll tell you why. Because Chloe has to his be this all-knowing Mother figure and tell the little boy Clark how to a superhero or else she'll have no purpose in his heroic life. And heavens knows we can't have that now can we?? May 14th needs to hurry up before its too late.
After Lois is mentioned, Clark says what he's learned from his experience is that Lois can never know his secret. Chloe asks him if he's trying to protect himself from getting hurt. I assume she's asking Clark if he's afraid that Lois will get hurt at some point after learning his secret and if Clark fears having his heart broken again should something happen to her. Fair question, and the answer seems to be 'yes'. Adding to this fear, Clark says he's destroyed the Legion ring so there can't be a do-over should something go wrong after Lois learns his secret. The music changes as Chloe wonders what changed in this timeline because of it.
Hey. Saw you standing here at the party. I don't know anyone here. Not really a mingler. Figured I'd come over and introduce myself. Name's Lisa. I do data entry. What's your name? Whaddaya do for a living?
Davis. Paramedic.
Oh, thats nice. What's do you, uh, do in your spare time?
Well spikes come out of my body and I kill ugly people..
Well. That's great. That's just great. I'm gonna go stand over there.
Met General. The nurse again finds Davis in the stock room, but this time tells him that someone is asking for him. Its Linda Lake, again. She just flat out tells him she knows his secret and what he's capable of. Davis is getting angry, you won't like him when he's angry. When he asks what does she want, she tells him to hulk up and break her free of her bonds. Davis bobbles his medicine and Linda taunts him. He tries to warn her one last time but she threatens to tell Chloe who he is if he doesn't help her. Well, it was fun Linda. Not really, but I just wanted to nice. Davis falls to the ground, and his eyes changes color. Having enough of her yapping, he takes her pillow and smothers her. The end result having a surprisingly soothing effect on his inner beast. This. Can not. Be good.
Cafe. Lois is sitting down, noticeably anxious and jittery and waiting Clark's arrival. A waitress brings her a cup of coffee but it doesn't help much. Reveal Clark standing behind her, across the street in the shadows, staring at her with a pained look on his face. Come on, Clark. Its always scary when you are first falling in love, but if you stay stationary nothing good will come from it. One step at a time is all it takes. But no, he looks down and texts her a lie. Lois hears the text and looks down as if she knew what the text was going to say before she even reads it. Taking a gulp, she reads the message, and her face says it all. Clark stares on from the cross the street, then receives a message back from her. He reads, then looks up at her, knowing she is lying too. DAMN, he was right there across the street. If Lois had looked to her right she might have saw him. He walks off as we fade to black.
All in all: Damn you writers for this. This episode was a roller coaster of emotions. When I first saw it, I was left feeling sick for Lois. My score would have been lower had I not waited. But I rewatched, and I have to say it. I'm loving this episode. The pacing was rushed, the puns and catch phrases were over the top, some of the dialogue was hella cheesy. Thats what you get with Caroline Dries. But the parts they got right, they REALLY nailed. And there was a lot that they got right in this episode.
First the minor plot of Chloe and Davis. They shared only two scenes together, and this was the first time in a long time that I didn't want to throw Doritos at the TV when I was watching them. Chloe wasn't naive, Davis didn't come off as woobie. They both were weary of what could happen if they stayed friends, and there was a decision to terminate the friendship. Davis warned her to tell Clark, while trying to save her. And when Chloe learned who Davis is she did the right thing and tried to warn Clark. I got no complaints about this. But I shake my head at whats coming between them, and now after seeing what could have happened, its kind of messed up. I guess a small part of me feels sorry for them. (thinks of the Turbulence spoiler clip) Well. I'm over it already, how bout you guys?
Linda Lake was awful. Really awful. But strangely enough even though her acting was worse here than her last visit, she was used better this time. It was a proper sequel to what she set out to do in Hydro, and her story connected to Clark reasonably well. Davis killing her was a good twist.
The Chlark scenes in this episode were sort of OK, except for that last scene which I hated. But I thought there were too many. Chloe had what? Four scenes with Clark? We see her every episode, so I could have done without her being in so much of this episode. She should have been with Jimmy wherever they ended up transferring him after he was denied to Met General. If she had to speak with Clark why not pick up a phone - thats what phones are for. But no, she had to be over by Clark. Because Clark can't come to the conclusion on his own to use the Legion ring, right? Right, show?
Welcome back Lois. She's a breath of fresh air and gives the show the life that it lacks. The reveal scene was handled almost perfectly. It was good, but not too thorough. That should be saved for when the Blur gives Lois the interview in the future. ED knocked it out of the park this episode, her best performance to date IMO. The scene in the barn before the reversal epitomizes everything that is great about Lois. Determined, fiesty, combative, sensitive, loyal. All her traits were on display here and every scene she was in, was a great scene.
Clark was good for the most part and his naive nature was on full display. He was emboldened enough to reveal his secret to the world, which is was a big fear of his. Too bad it didn't work out the way he wanted it to. Lucky for him that he had that Legion ring, although he destroyed it. One small gripe about that. I can't believe these producers would have him destroy that ring. That ring is legendary, he treasures it in the comics. First they get rid of its flight capabilty - a cheap a cop out mind you. Then they get rid of it all together. I understand why because of the spoilers, but it didn't have to be destroyed. He could have just said that he will never use it to go back into the past again.
Now with Clois. A thank you to the producers for not having him mention Lana, or having Lana be the reason they aren't together. I could do with her never being mentioned again. We didn't quite get the Clark that was in Bride, the one who was willing to make a move on Lois. Don't mistake me, because I don't mind them slowing things down, and that closing scene effectively halted everything on Lois' end. But this is where my disappointment lies with Clark, even though I see where he is coming from: I feel like he's allowed fear to dictate his actions, and I don't like that. He knows Lois is attracted to him, and he knows that she would accept him completely. But that line where the Agent Douche told him that Lois could be charged as aiding and harboring an enemy of the state really shook him.
To be with Lois in his eyes, is to be completely honest about himself with her. Wanting to start things on the right foot is good. I would rather that be the lone reason why he's postponing making a move for her, then for him to allow fear to seep in. All the stuff that happened in the other timeline shouldn't and hopefully won't dictate his personal life. It was a chain of bad events happened because of one lady who is now dead, and with proper planning Lois can be spared from any government agency's suspicion. This is whats so good about the double identity. The Blur/Superman is a symbol with no home address and that spares those closest to him from suspicion.
And unfortunately Clark has backed himself into a corner with Lois. The only way she'll allow him to express his desire for her now is as the Blur. He'll have to conceal his identity of Clark Kent, and hang in shadows, never free to just be Clark around her. And that will become just as bothersome to him. It'll be basically the same situation as he just ran from, only he's concealing that he's Clark instead of concealing that he's the Blur.
The episode wasn't all I hoped it would be, but it was what it needed to be. A resumption of the season's key storylines with a lot of foreshadowing thrown in. I'm giving it 8 out of 10.
Next week looks interesting. Its a bird, its a plane - its a falling man.

8. 7 just for Lois alone. 1 for Chloe, in the time #1 or whatever, when she was willing to back out on her friendship with Davis because he couldn't be just friends with her. Way to stick by her man!
Oh, and ED was amazing, but I wouldn't expect anything less. She's the best part of the show, IMO, and I was SO glad to see her back on screen.

I gave this episode a 6 out of 10. I was tempted to give a lower score. Although I was estatic that Smallville had returned after nearly a month hiatus, and happy to see Lois in this episode, Clark has disappointed me to the utmost in this episode. Can someone please switch the acroynm BDA from Big Dumb Alien, to Big Dumb Ass? I mean, come on! WTH?! He goes back into time YET AGAIN in order to correct a mistake that HE created? Then he destroys the ring? How stupid is that!? He might've needed the ring in the future, but Clark only sees the moment and can't look very far in the future - obviously. That's what got him in his mess in the first place. Then there was the last scene where he ditched Lois Lane at the Coffe Cafe. So this is how it's gonna be??!!! Lois Lane got played???!!! I mean, Lois had accepted Clark's secret, had wrote his story as requested, and was still talking to Clark, after he didn't pick her up at the airport (before Clark time-travelled). That took a tremendous amount of effort for Lois Lane. And ED did fantastic! Clark had plenty of opportunities to rectify himself with her. But no! At this point I say Lois just concentrate on being a kickass reporter, get promoted, forget about Clark, and start dating other people, since it seems that Clark isn't concerned with her. He could've at least met her at the Coffee Cafe. Damn! I'm really trying to stick by Clark, afterall, he is the reason I'm still watching the show, but I do not know how much longer my loyalty to him is gonna last if he doesn't get himself together. Why take 1 step forward if you're going to turn around and then take another 2 steps back? GGgggggrrrrr!
 And can someone please explain the relevance of the Linda Lake/Davis Bloom scene? Why? Why would Davis even be concerning himself with releasing Linda Lake? That scene was totally pointless.
I'm sure that there are other things that I can say about this episode, but I digress.... I will look to see if Cedric has made his presence known - I think I need comic relief right now. I will only hope that next week's episode will put this one to shame. And will prove me to be wrong in my feelings of contempt of Clark at the moment.

Cedric wrote:
(Looks at La Donna) See, this.. this.. this is what I'm talking about. WHY does SHE need to tell him that? Why can't HE think for himself? I'll tell you why. Because Chloe has to his be this all-knowing Mother figure and tell the little boy Clark how to a superhero or else she'll have no purpose in his heroic life. And heavens knows we can't have that now can we?? May 14th needs to hurry up before its too late.
It's not that I don't agree with you, because I mostly do. I hate it that Clark is part of a "Smallville Team" in which the usual function he performs for the past few seasons is the muscle to Chloe's brains. But, their relationship is not always portrayed that way, and the beauty of it is that sometimes they work well together, where Clark is the muscle and the brains, and Chloe is the assistant brain and the loyal helper. That's when their friendship is an asset to both characters and the show.
But, I didn't mind any of their scenes together last night because they were necessary. When Clark decided to come clean and reveal his identity, it was wonderful to see how hopeful he was that he might be accepted. That was a wonderful Superman moment to me. His faith in the human race and the better side of their nature. Chloe was the human voice of concern. She's friends with Clark and loves him, so between banking on humans to do the right thing or trying to protect Clark from rejection, of course she'd try to shield Clark. That's not being smarter than Clark. While it was true that in the end, the humans seemed to turn against Clark, Clark was correct in that the humans were willing to accept him. They didn't reject Clark because of who he was and what he revealed. They accepted him. It was later on when they were fed lies that they turned against him or doubted him. So, it's not that Chloe was smarter than Clark here. Clark was hopeful and Chloe was skeptical. That's all.
The scene about "double identity" didn't seem like the same type of scene we've had from earlier this season. It was not Chloe coming up with every aspect of what his double identity should be, or why he needs one. It was just Chloe mentioning it as though it was something they had talked about before, not her trying to push him necessarily or give him ideas. In fact, right after she brought it up, Clark jumped in clarifying what it would be for him and what the benefits would be. I didn't mind this scene at all. Put yourself in Chloe's place. Clark seemed as though he wanted the world to accept him and he wanted to be able to save them, but he didn't like how it happened this past time. Wouldn't you want to say "Hey, Clark, it's not an all or nothing situation here. Remember what we've talked about as far as what a double identity or costume would do to answer these problems". To me all Chloe did was simply bring back up a solution they already wondered about.
The real problem with the Chloe/Clark relationship is that they are using it as a multi function relationship. It's great as a friendship, it's great as a team, but then when Clark's mom and dad left, they split Chloe's role and made her the best friend/helper and also had her be the mother/older sister. Thus, instead of Chloe being able to help Clark out and be his friend, they now also use her to give parental type advice and guidance. That's the reason a lot of Clark's fans are ready for the Chloe/Clark relationship to change or end. They don't want a person who is Clark's friend to be used as the "wise parent who guides the hero to his destiny".
However, scrapping the character is in no way the answer. All they need to do is one of two things: Have the relationship go back to it's glory days where their friendship is strong and loving and Chloe is able to help when she can, and stop using Chloe as the mother/older sister type who must do Clark's thinking for him. Or of course move Clark forward so that he doesn't need someone to guide him every step of the way. Killing her is the laziest solution, and I think the worst thing they could do for Clark, as it would show once again that Clark must have those he love be killed or taken from him in order to force him to be a hero. Plus, Chloe is a great character and doesn't need to be axed just because the writers couldn't move Clark a step forward.
Really, does anyone want Clark to choose to fulfill his destiny because his loved ones are taken from him? I don't. Clark changed this season, and I loved it. But, I hated that it happened supposedly because Lana was gone and so Clark didn't want to cling to what's gone. He was awesome for the entire first part of the season. Then came Power and Requiem and he reverts back to old Clark. Infamous gave us a Clark who seemed more in line with season eight episodes 1-12 Clark than episode 13-14 Clark, but it seems to happen once again because he can't have Lana. He was only going to do his training at the beginning of season 7 because Lana was "dead" and he said "nothing is left for me here". So, obviously, Lana was shown to be his only desire, and he was made to seem like "man, I guess I might as well do my training, since I've got nothing else left to do". Do we want that Clark to be shown again when season 9 starts? I don't.
I want Clark to have a choice between a happy life of privacy or a hero's life of saving others at the possible cost of his private happy life. Then, when he chooses to be a hero, it's because he's a real hero and knowingly given up another life that he could have had. With Lana's "death" they made it look like Clark had no choice in the matter. With Lana's "poisoning" they made it look like Clark had no choice in the matter. While I'm all for new heroic smart Clark that we've had in season 8, why the bloody hell can't we have this new Clark without him seemingly forced into it? And that's what will happen if Chloe dies. Clark will once again feel like someone died because of his secret, and someone was taken from him for being involved in his life.
So, he'll walk forward ready to protect the world, and maybe more convinced and ready than ever to create a costumed identity to protect those few left in his life, but he'll do it because he has to, and not because he wants to help those around him and comes to the conclusion on his own that those closest to him need protection from his enemies. It's yet another set-back to his free choice and his heroic choices. If he hasn't learned his lesson by now that sometimes those closest to him will be victims and could be in danger because of knowing him, then something is wrong with the writers. I personally don't feel that every expendable person in his life must be taken from him in order for him to finally do something about that situation. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather Clark be able to make a choice just once that is because he wants to and can solve a problem before it happens instead of being made to.
That was a long answer, I only meant to do a few sentences for my Chloe. But, my Clark and my Chloe both needed to be addressed. I will seriously try not to ever make my responses so long winded again, cause it annoys me just as much as it annoys you guys. It's a new La Donna coming, I can feel it!

Glen Winter
Thank you for taking the time to post! :D

After rewatching the episode I am curious what exactly was the use of the Chloe/Davis plotline in this episode. Neither of them remember it, Lois doesn't get a chance to tell Clark about Davis, we basically found out stuff we knew from earlier episodes so......

We got to see a pretty cool image of Doomsday, plus they needed a reason to actually have Chloe in this episode. She basically has no purpose on this show anymore, but she's still contracted for all 22 episodes. So they need to throw her in there somewhere even if she adds absolutely nothing to the story.
Davis/Witwer did awesome in this episode. The Doomsday interaction was amazing, if rare. I still enjoyed when he ripped that door off and we got to see the largest Doomsday to date, on this show. I think he'll be even bigger by the finale.

??? chloe does have a place there she is still his best friend and thats right she was contraxted for 22 episodes because she was needed for the show at the time or they never would have kept her in the first place. she is part of the doomsday arc she has been since the beginning of the season .
imo chloe is still needed they made her necessary when they gave her the doomis /davis arc. and being brainiac added some good stories this season as well. i can think of some other characters that aren't needed since this is smallville.
pffft ! oh well i can't win them all sorry you feel this way. she is an amazing character.

I'll just say that she was an amazing character, at one point. But she didn't need to be in the Brainiac or Doomsday story arcs. She was there, yes, but she didn't need to be. Brainiac and Doomsday are so far above her, it's almost an insult to have those two immensely powerful villains even concerned with her.
But hey, you like Chloe. More power to you.

...Killing her is the laziest solution...
Laziest solution, easiest way out, lightswitching, retcons, etc. Sadly, these have become Smallville traditions. Not always, but all too often.
Given the choice between a good resolution with creative story telling and taking the easy way out, as a possible outcome in a Smallville story arc, lazy is the way to bet (even while hoping for the creative solution).
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst...:(

Nancy Grace: Hello gang. Breaking news: There are aliens- yes, aliens.
Rick Martel is a fitional character who is actually older than Clark.
Lent, welcome to the show.
Stay tuned.
________________________________
Out of nowhere Linda Lake appears. Hide your children, folks.
A geeky guy freaks out over Clark catching her and next we see Linda's mug.
Grandville county has issued a mandary curfew at 9PM and urges all families with small children to stay indoors at all times." - Radio announcement, 7:49PM.
Its Linda Lake, ugh.
The kind of awful where you wake up after being drunk and turn over and see the awful looking at you and go "Woah damn!" I'm speaking about acting, people. Strangely enough, even though her acting was worst here than her last visit, she was used better this time. It was a proper sequel to what she set out to do in Hydro, and her story connected to Clark reasonably well. And Davis killing her? He did us all a big favor.
Better than Bride, on par with Committed. 9 out of 10.
Next week looks interesting. Its a bird, its a plane - its a falling man.
Yet again Cedric, you've excelled :p

Laziest solution, easiest way out, lightswitching, retcons, etc. Sadly, these have become Smallville traditions. Not always, but all too often.
Given the choice between a good resolution with creative story telling and taking the easy way out, as a possible outcome in a Smallville story arc, lazy is the way to bet (even while hoping for the creative solution).
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst...:(
I agree, which is why I do have fear that Chloe will be killed. In fact, killing her seems more in line with how this show operates, which is a bad sign. I have more hope now than I did a couple of weeks ago that she will live, but if all I had to judge Chloe's future on were how this show writes and solves problems, I would have no hope at all for my girl Chloe. It'd be nice if the writers could surprise us with an intelligent resolution and arc for the end of the season and the entire ninth season for all characters and story arcs. I'm not dense enough to place money on it happening, but it would be nice.

This thread is so funny... anyway... It would take more than a zillion Infamous for me to forget about Power. I liked the episode...though it was not what I wnted to see.... Caroline did an excellent job in the last scene. That's the real Lois & Clark [season 2] and maybe in the future it wil be all good.
Well... I hope Smallville gets back in the Superman track.
"How can I guy with x-ray vision be so blind?" It's a classic quote already. CLASSIC.

It's funny how fast Lois spotted the BDA, because I've been wondering about that for years.

Cedric, I just read your review! I wasn't online yesterday at all, but it was the first thing I looked for when I came into this thread today.

As usual very funny!!!! I really loved your analysis and breakdown on the moments with Lois and Clark, and I especially agree with you that they should have had another line to follow up with "because you are special". That seemed a bit rushed and to me not enough dialogue from Clark's character. ED did knock this one out of the ballpark, and TBH her performances this season have been outstanding! I actually teared up when she said the line, "why should I think I'm special". Really great performance by her.
I rewatched this episode a couple of times, and now I like the end a lot better. There was no dialogue again between ED and TW in that scene (unless you count the text message), yet like in Bride you could read their emotions by their facial expressions. I gave it an 8.
On a side note, I actually like Tori Spelling in this role, but it seems like I'm in the minority. I think she was better in Hydro though comparing it. The fight with her and Lois was good, and of course Lois kicked butt!! Loved that!!

Commercial Break. If you can "taste the rainbow," you've been popping something a lot stronger than Skittles.:rotfl:
Still at the Daily Planet. And Lois is locking the door. I like where this is going already. Ha! Yes, good things happen behind locked office doors!;)
This is so cheesy its funny. So Clark's going to harm children now? And he has no remorse? They can't be serious. So without any proof, the government just accepts the word of the Wicked Witch of the West, minus the green makeup? Come on now. I thought this was cheesy as well...totally ridiculous for some of the other outrageous stunts SV has pulled. (With the exception of superLana, of course!)
As I stated in another thread...I knew Lois would wipe the floor with Tori...erh, I mean, Linda Lake!:p;)
Let me break it down for you fellas. When a woman gives you two choices and says that both are OK, she's lying through her teeth and one of the choices is definitely not OK. Don't listen to her! Think and choose wisely or there will be hell to pay. You've learned well Cedric! This is what I continually have to remind my husband!
This is spot on, Cedric! He has backed himself into a corner. Unfortunately, I think that means we'll get more angsty Clois than lighthearted, fun Clois. Those will be peppered in here and there, but since Clana is gone, there has to be an angsty relationship...now doesn't there?
Next week looks interesting. Its a bird, its a plane - its a falling man.I think it won't be a flying man, rather, a super-speeding falling gracefully man!:p All to keep Tess from going splat on the ground! :p
Yet another masterpiece of a review, Cedric!:) Nice to have Lois back to include in the review, isn't it?

After I gave my 6 out of 10 vote for "Infamous", I found Cedric - Hallelujah! Just what the doctor ordered, and I feel so much better!!! I also looked at the episode again. I'm not changing my vote, however, Cedric's review made me re-evaluate my loathing for Clark (at the moment). I decided to wait and see what uh....cultivates from the remainder episodes. Thanks Cedric for helping change my frown upside down.:):D

Considering how fast information travels these days, I have no issue with how fast people found out about it and recognized Clark. The story would have been out on the internet long before the actual print edition of the paper came out. It might even be splashed across Drudge's page before the first paper was printed.
I wonder how long before DC gets rid of the Daily Planet and reboots the Superman story in a more modern way. By the time the next movie comes out there might be very few actual printed papers left.
Lois Lane, the new Matt Drudge!

1. Never fall for any alien. He is bad news to either your physical(Chloe) or mental(Lois) health.
2. Linda Lake is scary. She made Doomy look like a pweety kitty

This is basically why I gave the show an 8, and it bears repeating.
Mr. Glen Winter, director man,
This episode was pretty darn good. I'm by no means a Clois fan (sorry, never have been and never will be), but this episode handled them better than most of the season. You all actually took some time to show, not tell and that was a little refreshing (especially after being hit over the head with way too many anvils in the first half [we get it already]).
I absolutely LOVED all the Chlark goodness and am thrilled to have real Chloe and real Chlark back. Tom Welling and Allison Mack have the most amazing chemistry; Chlark is by far the all-time best relationship in television history!
There is NO doubt casting Sam Witwer as Davis/Doomsday was the perfect decision. At first when I heard Chloe would be 'involved' with a triangle that included Doomsday, I was SO ticked off I just about didn't tune in this season.
Then I figured, what the heck! Sam is Julliard trained and Allison is such an excellent actress why not give it a try. I'm glad I did. This has been the most intriguing story Smallville has had in years (since S5). The chemistry between Allison and Sam is off-the-charts.
BUT, I want you and the rest of the crew to know I, along with Chloe fans worldwide, are absolutely PISSED off over the probability that Chloe will die. I also want you all to know IF that's the case, I will NOT be back for next season, and I know plenty of other Chloe fans who won't be either.
Thank you for giving us an enjoyable episode, and for taking you time to post here. Enjoy your time off!
I looked forward to this episode because it was a chance for Clark to come out of the alien closet and stop some of the secret insanity for a while. In a nutshell, what Clois I saw actually made sense, up until the very end, then it felt more like Clana. Angst ahoy! I've had enough angst to supply me for a lifetime. There's no reason that I can see that Lois can't know the secret if that's what Clark wants, Jimmy too.
I guess part of the reason why we had this epiosde was to remind us why Clark keeps the secret from the rest of the world.
I loved how Chlark can't seem to say goodbye to the other and the Last of the Mohicans feel to the woods scene. Thank you for offering something for everyone with this episode.

From Cedric:
Bingo...great review!

Oh Cedric how your review are wonderfully entertaining! Your reviews has got me through the worst of episodes, because I just wonder what will Cedric write this week about this part and blah blah blah! So good job to you and thank you!
When the CW decided to reaire "Bloodline" I watched, and I love "Bloodline"! But I was afraid for "Infamous" and I shouldnt been but I was. Mostly because of that last episode did me in. I was really hoping for a mature relationship that I got hints of in "Bride" and "Legion" and yes even "Bulletproof" It seemed that Lana and Clark changed and that was a good thing and that is what I was hoping for for the rest of the Clana arch. However, I gotten off track and this isnt about Clana or Clois so please dont yell at me, it is just how I felt. I'll save that for the proper threads.
With "Infamous", I wasnt at all disappointed with the Lois and Clark scenes. They do make the episode go down good! (That was my attempt of being funny, Ill try to stop, no promises.) The desk scene was good, and I liked how Lois used a line from a past episode, "I guess I should stop calling you Smallville." In both cases she wont remember saying either time.
The best scene with Lois and Clark was when they are in the barn and he told her that he was going back in time. That was prime Lois and Clark! They said that they loved each other without even saying, "I love you." The dialouge was a little hard to understand, but after rewatcing it I think I understand what they were trying to tell each other. They were beating around the bush, sort of speak. I love that scene!
I was glad that Clark wasnt whinning or complaining about the events with Lana, I can take one or two mentions but dont over do it. It seemed that Clark has dealt with his feelings with Lana but I highly doubt that, not this soon. Maybe we will see him saying something about it that in future episodes. He shouldnt forget about Lana because Lois is back, but Lana deserves some respect. We have seen 8 years of Clark and Lana, and that cant be changed.
I KNEW THAT LINDA LAKE WAS NOT DEAD!!!! I was looking forward with her return as the water monster!!! YEAH!!!! It seemed that she was overacting or something wasnt right when she delivered her lines. I think she was trying too hard being a bad "guy" and not concentrating on being a **tch! I did enjoy her though! I liked how she yelled, "Set me free!" I knew that she will get was coming to her!!!
Oh Davis, how you can only control the beast with meds for a little while, you fool!!! You cant fight your destiny, Clark tried and failed. His acting to try to fight the beast within was great! HIs face took on a life of its own, I might have had to change my pants once maybe twice. But no more than twice.... (lol)
YEAH JIMMY!!! YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!!!
Chloe was good in this episode. I like how she was willing to protect Clark and try to find out where her husband was! The Chloe and Davis scenes were magic!!!
The last scene with Lois and Clark was heartbreaking but Im so glad that he didnt cross the street, no yet! But one day Clark will and it will be good! Too bad we will not be there to see this version of Lois and Clark go that far.
This for me was like "hydro" with a dash of Doomsday, and I loved it!!! My excitment for Smallville has returned and I fear no more!!!!

Wow... I'm in a small minority here. I hate Newhart style endings. "well, I'll go back in time and fix things..." or "I guess I'll wake up and it's all a dream."
Lame. The main plot was poor... but the subplots were good.

great review cedric hillariuos and poignant as always.
They are just so fruity, Britt. So fruity, just soooo fruity. I have nightmares about those damn fruity skittles. Each review I'll have at least one crack about them. They're everywhere. I bet the producers just love them for buying up all that ad time. Does each actor get a complimetary skittles on set? Who knows!
Thanks Snowbird!
Great review Cedric.
On a side note. If Tori Spelling was in White Chicks, could you pick her out from among the Wayans brothers?
Thanks and LOL. She does look like she could be in that movie singing: Making my way downtown. walking fast, faces pass. and I'm homebound. OK, I'll just shut up now. I don't know those lyrics.
 Oh Cedric. You really need to write your reviews on a blog somewhere. They're so hilarious!
Badtoad! Tin can bam Pakistan, Ann. Spam! Peter Pan! Not jelly but jam!
Thats Clarkaldese for thank you!
Cedric, you deliver once again. Excellent review, and I agree that you really need your own blog specifically for your reviews. Your reviews get lost in the very long Loved it/Hated it threads.
Thanks James. Maybe I can post them in a seperate thread next week?
Thanks Jade.
Thanks Michele. That ending scene just leaves me speechless (in a good way) everytime I watch it. It was phenomenal, and no words were needed as their expressions said everything. You could see both of them gulping before and after they sent those messages. It ate them up inside to lie to each other. Clark's going to have his work cut out for now now. Ohh boy is he.
Did you notice the horrible wig on Tori's stunt double as Lois was kicking her butt? She fell down one way and the wig went another way. I mean dang!
Melissa, this episode was eons better than Power and Requiem and much easier to write. So happy to have Lana gone and Lois back.
After I gave my 6 out of 10 vote for "Infamous", I found Cedric - Hallelujah! Just what the doctor ordered, and I feel so much better!!! I also looked at the episode again. Always glad I could help, Cali! I know its fustrating what Clark did, and I know the first instinct is to ask "Why?" But I think the producers are showing respect to Clark and Lois by taking things slowly and building it up.
The Lana crap just happened, and while I am glad that Clark didn't mention it or allude to it as affecting his decision, I don't think it would be fair to Clark or fair to Lois for them to get involved now. It keeps Lois from being a rebound, and it gives Clark time to realize that what he is feeling for Lois is on a different level than what he felt for Lana. And each week we will watch his feelings intensify for her until he reaches the point where his love will be worthy of hers. Doesn't that sound like its worth the wait?;)
Thanks ClubXerxes!

Big fan of Nancy Grace, Sarah?:p She's so crazy that she was perfect for the intro. Thanks!
La Donna, I would quote everything, but I agree with 99.9% of what you said. Great post, great thoughts. And you hit the nail on the head regarding the problems in that friendship for Clark fans. I wish I shared that optimism for that other .1%
I've been spoiled about the episode for 4 months now. I knew what the general plot of it would be and I knew the lesson it would teach Clark about having a double identity. So there I was, foolishly waiting for him to say the words. And what do we get? Chloe suggesting it to him. It makes it makes me want to pull my hair out. That was suppose to be Clark's epiphany. Clark - singular. Not Chlark's, not Chloe's, not anyone else.
I'm so tired of her butting into his heroic life because of these silly writers. Was that suppose to be a cute scene? It stopped being cute 3 years ago. No one should be giving Clark the idea for a secret identity. Whats next, she's going to suggest the cape, tights, and glasses? If May 14th doesn't get here quick I bet she will! Its only a matter of time.
Like that forrest scene between them. Was that really neccessary? Couldn't Clark have come to the conclusion of using the Legion ring on his own? He could have called Chloe on the phone and left a message for her to get out of town because the cops are looking for her, then continued on to the DP to save Lois, then got the ring when he took her back to the barn. But nope, before every important decision they have him talk it over with Chloe. Writers.. writers.. this isn't Batman and Chloe isn't Robin.
The writers just can't resist writing her like this. They'll do it no matter what, just like they can't resist writing Clark as a love-sick puppy for Lana. The only way they ended the Lana worship was to get her off the show, and I'm afraid its to that point for Chloe. They've had years to right this friendship, and they've proven they lack the courage to do it. Their last chance to do it was in Abyss and they chickened out and gave his secret right back to her 2 episodes later. So that leaves one alternative..

So, a news blurb appears on the Daily Planet website:
On May 14th,2009, Chloe Sullivan Olsen, former Daily Planet Reporter and estranged wife Daily Planet Photographer James 'Jimmy' Olsen was found dead. Preliminary findings indicate the cause of death was an acute case of bad writing, complicated by a severe lack of creativity.Funeral arrangements are pending:rotfl:

Cedric, as usual I enjoyed you review. Laughed at your comments after Lois locked the door. Do you think Clark was thinking he was gonna get lucky. Poor man, probably not!
Tori Spelling looks older then her mother and her make-up looked like it was put on by a 4 year old. Not a good look.
Totally agree with the Chloe assessment as well. Let Clark do his own thinking, or let him talk on the phone to his Mom where we don't even hear her, but it is him telling her what he has decided to do!
Great job and thanks for the laughs!

Glen Winter
Thank you Mr. Winter for not only taking the time to read some of what the fans have to say but also so graciously thanking us. Everyone is doing such an amazing job with the show and I am excited about having one more season to enjoy. Tom has done an amazing job with his directing thus far and I can not wait to see what he does with Injustice. Enjoy your time off and keep up the amazing work !!!

I gave this episode a 6.
Here's what I did not like:
1. That Clark would reveal his secret so willingly given what he's learned since S1. Both Jonathan and Jor-El taught him the importance of keeping his secret from others. Clark, himself, experienced first hand how dangerous it can be for those who know his secret. Clark also has a huge fear of being turned into a lab experiment. Yet he shares his secret with Lois who reveals it to the world because he's being threatened by a washed-up reporter who does'nt even have a job. In doing so he does'nt even confide in Martha, the woman who helped protect his secret since he was a small boy. We see him call her after the fact so we know he still remembers her phone number. IMO it would have made sense to have him call her beforehand to discuss a decision of this magnitude. I also would have liked to have seen Oliver Queen in this episode to see Clark discussing it with him. After all Oliver has a secret identity and probably could have helped Clark come to a decision. He does however talk to Chloe who insists they can find another way to stop Linda Lake. It seems to me that Chloe has helped Clark numerous times in dealing with meteor freaks and crisis situations. Why lose faith in her now? Clark apparently does'nt believe Chloe can figure out a way to stop Linda Lake. Of couse Chloe does figure it out and rather quickly as we see in the first timeline, so he had no reason to doubt her.
2. The fact that the Daily Planet would feature a story like this without running any tests on Clark. When the federal agent tells Clark they want to run tests on him he of course refuses. It's therefore a fair assumption that Clark would'nt have allowed the Daily Planet to run tests either. He obviously displayed what he was capable of doing to Lois but how did she convince the newspaper it was true? I guess we're suppose to assume this was all done off screen. So apparently Lois went to speak with Tess and convinced her the story was true in order to have it printed. Tess was mentioned in the elevator scene with Lois and Linda so we know that this story would have to be cleared by her. But why would'nt TPTB have Tess appear in this episode? I would have loved to have seen her reaction to Clark being an alien from another planet. IMO it made no sense to have "the story of the century" on the front page of the Daily Planet and Tess is no where to be found.
3. The initial reaction from people after the story comes out. I know I have to suspend my belief when watching this show but the people's reaction was beyond ridiculous. As I'm watching the episode I thought Clark was dreaming. Everyone's treating him like the world's biggest celebrity. I find it hard to believe that so many people would believe this story from day one. IMO most would believe it was a hoax. It would take many followup stories with supporting evidence (such as interviews with people who had seen him use his abilities) to convince most people. However, assuming they did believe it, it's hard for me to imagine they would be so accepting of Clark. I know he's saved some people as the Red-Blue Blur but it's hard for me to believe that so many people would have this reaction. A mixed reaction among the people upon initially hearing the story would make more sense. After all I would think that some people would be afraid of him.
4. Time travel. Clark creates a gigantic mess of things for himself and his friends doing something he should have known was a mistake in the first place. Fortunately for him and his friends he has a "get out of jail free card". We should all be so lucky everytime we make a mistake.
5. Linda Lake. Her dialogue was terrible. I was happy to see her go.
6. The fact that Lana was so easily forgotten.
Here's what I liked:
1. Lois Lane. ED looked fantastic and performed wonderfully. I like the scene where Clark lifts up the table with her on it and she then falls into Clark's arms. She did a great job in the barn scene where she opened up to Clark. I liked the fight scene with her and Linda as well. I'm starting to see great chemistry between TW and ED but I did'nt like Clark's lack of emotion in the barn scene.
2. Davis/Doomsday. Sam Witwer is one of the few reasons I'm still watching the show at this point. I always enjoy his scenes. I like that he's fighting the evil inside of him.
3. That Clark destroyed the Legion ring. This gives me hope that Clark is finally starting to learn that he just can't turn back time because something happens that he does'nt like (which was the case in "Reckoning") or when he makes a mistake.
4. The end scene. Not too much angst and I'm glad they're not rushing Clois.
I know most here loved this episode but I honestly believe my rating was generous. Overall the episode was too rushed. Clark revealing his secret to the world is so huge that there's just too much to put in a single episode. I also did'nt see much character development from Clark in this episode. IMO he did'nt need to experience the first timeline to learn that he needed a secret identity. He knows that both Andrea Rojas and Oliver Queen have secret identities, and in "Identity" Chloe told Clark it would be a good idea for him to have an alias. He did learn that Lois would accept him and how she feels about him. Of course he could have just told her his secret to find out how she felt without revealing it to the entire world. I have to give the director and the actors some credit though. They did a great job considering how weak the story was IMO.
WELLINGWIFE#2

Yeah I have to agree with you that the story line was a little weak. And by that I mean the whole Ms. lake thing..Maybe it was Tory Spelling's acting (that didn't help matters)..but I think the other parts of the story were relevant and the actors and SV staff alike did a great job with it. There were parts (with Clark and Lois mainly) that were emotional and powerful IMO. Maybe they should have tried it with a different Villain.

yea, i pointed that several weeks ago, but they simply made ring from time-travel to time-reversal :(
Maybe he gave the other Clark the ring and told him to go to the future and join the Legion.
Now, what happened to the other Superman at the end of Superman: The Movie?
I think he had to still go and stop the dam from breaking while the future Superman spent a lot of time hanging out with Lois.

Kaitlyn I made your night and I wasn't even invited? I'm hurt. OK, I forgive you. :p Thanks!
Thanks Pat! Clark looked a little spooked after Lois locked that door. Normally I would expect a physical beatdown or some action, or I'm lucky- both. Clark just looked as if he expected a tongue lashing. Poor guy.
Thanks Alex darling!

Tori Spelling looks older then her mother and her make-up looked like it was put on by a 4 year old. Not a good look.
She's been the subject of "scary skinny" discussions recently, and it definitely showed here. I think she looked much better in "Hydro" than in this episode - but then again, she was expecting at that time.

Glen Winter
Hi, Glen!
First of all, thank you for stopping by and listening to what the fans have to say. Your first comment for the Committed thread was the reason I decided to de-lurke and joined the K-site last year. It’s very good to know our voice is heard and it’s always GREAT to hear from you.
As for 'Infamous', although I didn’t like the script, I thought your direction was very good as usual. For me, what I enjoy the most in this episode was the performance of Erica Durance. She was absolutely brilliant and she makes me proud to be a Lois Lane fan.
But I’d like to let you know 2 things which I couldn’t help noticing in this episode.
1) Small changes for the DP secret revealing scene. I thought the CW clip version was much better than the one you put in the actual episode, because I felt like Erica add a voiceover on several part in this scene (e.g. gasp) and it doesn’t sound natural to me. It disappoints me because it’s such an iconic scene which we tend to re-watch very often.
2) The shot of the street in front of the Daily Planet. Now, I’m not a eagle-eyeing type at all but I can’t help noticing there’s always same people walking on the street with same outfits and same belongings. (= dog, bags, an umbrella etc) I know you have a tight budget and this is maybe not a big deal for many people but I wish I could watch the show without pulling myself out of it. Small details like this can break my concentration sometimes.
Thank you again for taking your time and posting here. Please continue the great work and I look forward to more episodes under your direction. And good luck with ‘Injustice’! :)

I gave it an 8. It was a great step forward. Most comments I read were about Clois not happening at the coffee shop. That adds a touch of tension that has to happen between Clark and Lois. She has to have control or she wouldn't be Lois. She is awesome and plays her part very well. We don't want a soft mushy Lois, rough and tough thats what we want. Looking forward to the next episode.:D

I gave this episode an 8. Clark's decision was out of character and the reaction from people were a little hard to believe, but all and all a good episode.
I loved the Chlark interaction; it reminded me of why I love these two together so much.
A person can really see why they are so important to each other, a facet I hope you continue with. Doomsday/Davis was also awesome and kept me glued to me seat.

Amazing episode. It did feel a little rushes, but when i think about everything that had to happen it should have felt a lot more rushes and it didn't so that's a plus. Loved how they used the time travel consequence issue to further the doomsday storyline. Great script. Great acting as well. Didn't even mind Spelling verg much.
as for clark's decision to tell. Offcourse they should have taken more time to convince us that there was no other way (linda had already written the story by that point do clark was in as hurry), but that brings us back to the rushed issue again, which as i said was not really that bad.

Hmmm... I really don't know what to say about this episode. I feel like Season 8 started out with a bang and continued rolling right along until, inevitably, Lana returned. It sucks I have to bash the Lana character because I like Kristen Kreuk but I don't like how she portrayed Lana. I'm getting off of topic here but since Lana kicked the balls of all Superman fans with her empowerment this episode did not do anything to recover from the fall of Season 8. It's sad too because I thought this season with fresh blood at the helm would save the show and excite me once more like Season 1-3 did. Alas, no.
Another episode where Clark screws up, realizes it, and shakes his etch-a-sketch to erase it. Let me make this clear: I hate going back in time as a plot device to undo the plot device. It lacks imagination, it's a scape goat, and if the writers would write intelligently for their characters there would be no need for this kind of plot device. To quote Simon from American Idol, "It's utterly ridiculous."
I'm tired of this Lois and Clark tension. I know they'll get together so why even try to build up the tension? Plus I just hate the sudden thrust into this soon-to-be romance. We jsut finished with the Lana crap and instead of focusing on Clark becoming Superman we get another romance angle. Who recovers this fast? I'm going through a divorce and I'm not out there immediately looking for the next one. Open sexual orifice, enter the entire CW network.
Watching Tori Spelling act makes me want to run into a brick wall several times, hop in the middle of the street, get hit by a fast moving vehicle, and ensure the whole thing is caught on tape because that would be more entertaining. Her acting is atrocious, this Linda Lake character was barely worth one appearance two years ago, and again I could get into an accident and it would be more entertaining.
6/10 for this episode. I'm purposely missing this week's episode to watch my 6-year-old daughter practice cheerleading but in no way will I be thinking during the practice session, "Gee, wonder how Smallville is going tonight?"

The more time that goes by, the different I feel about the episode. Especially after reading the reviews on the Superman Homepage (well, mainly Douglas Trumble's). While I stick by my review, I don't think I'd still vote a nine. I think that was a "Lois is back", "This is so much better than Power and Requiem", and "Every character seems on point" high that boosted my vote up to a nine. I think now, if I only rated this episode against Season 8's episodes 1-12, I would have given it a 7 or 8.
The ring was a little too convenient and Clark didn't spend enough time debating the consequences. And since he used it and seemed happy with the results, I don't see why he would destroy it so fast. Why not go ahead to the future and check what they thought of his use of the ring, or see what they think of Clark hanging on to it or destroying it. Or just do the visit that was the point of him having the ring in the first place. And the plot devices they used, such as Clark putting the ring on his finger after he hears Lois trying to tell him something that seemed important as she came at him is more and more ridiculous to me. They could have done that in so many different ways that didn't make Clark look like an impatient moron. They could have had Lois listening to the message and as soon as she hangs up Clark puts on the ring. They could have done many things that didn't seem to be so full of ridiculousness.
But, it was still an entertaining episode, and there were some pretty good character moments. This "idea" for an episode could have been done justice with a different script and done over a two parter. Oh well, I still enjoyed it, but the things that bothered me the first time are just bothering me even more now. But I'm still psyched about Turbulence.

Now that I think about it, did Linda Lake develop super speed or was she just waiting in some random part of the woods to overhear a Chloe and Clark discussion about his one weakness? I mean, how did she get out there so fast when it Clark just ran over to Chloe, and not at a leisurly pace at that? Wasn't Linda just doing an interview somewhere else?
I have to agree with La Donna. I rated this too high early on because Lois was back and Lana wasn't. With Linda Lake suddenly being able to be everywhere at once and the return of the BDA, I give this a 6 now.

La Donna and NoSupeForYou,
I know what you’re saying, and did much the same in my rating (but I knew it at the time).
I think timing (as in when the episode appears) matters (like location in real estate).
Yes, the long Lois draught and the nightmare of ‘Power’ and ‘Requiem’ made ‘Infamous’ seem better than it would have, had it appeared prior to the Lana arc.
But then, IMHO, ‘Power’ and ‘Requiem’ would not have seemed as bad if they had appeared in season four (still bad, just not so nightmarishly bad).
So (again IMHO) taking into consideration the placement of the episode within the series is a valid rating factor. Thus, I’d not change my initial rating. YMMV.

I wish the writers could go back in time and write a decent episode. I mean, come on! Going back in time to fix a big mistake is really lame. And then Clark destroys the ring! Because time travel is dangerous! How come he didn't come to that conclusion before he used it? I thought this show was going in the right direction at the beginning of season 8, but it's just getting worse and worse--why even bother with season 9? Let's just give it a decent burial before Superman is completely ruined for everybody.

Loved it. I haven't liked an episode this much in a while and I feel like I may have gotten my beloved S8 back to the way it should be, but I don't want to jinx myself or anyone else for that matter.

In Abyss, when Chloe started losing her memory, she kept seeing the doomsday symbol. She draw it and showed it to Clark, who told her what it was. When she recovered her memory after the Brainiac exorcism, she recalled that too.

For all those of you who find time travel convenient, give me another way for an episode to explore Clark revealing his identity to the world and reversing that decision, which doesn't feel convenient.
The nasty consequence - while not as good as in Reckoning - redeems the plot device for me.

By far one of the best Smallville episodes ever even if at the end none of it happened. It was great to see Lois and Clark tell their feelings for one another. Just like in the comics. Can't wait to see Clark embrace his Superman image. The whole episode was my favorite actors Erica,Tom,and Allison. KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!!! GREAT SEASON:eek:

I live in Canada...and I taped the show from KTLA in LA ...and they broadcast Smallville in full screen.
When compared to the widescreen version...fullscreen comes a distant second.... because in fullscreen you end up with these extreme facial closeups...where often the characters faces are cut off ...in odd looking ways...so in some scenes...you only see one eye on someones face...or most of the top of their head is missing...
I dont know why some TV stations decide to show SV in full screen ..but I think its a dumb thing to do...as it adds nothing..and only takes away from the overall look of the show...
When shown in widescreen SV looks like a big budget Hollywood movie...but in fullscreen...it comes across on TV like a cheap & badly edited show...
Fortunately the Space channel up here... plays SV on Saturday night in widescreen.
The show just looks a 100 times better.... when its broadcast the way the director orginally filmed it.
Just saw this and wanted you to know that KTLA is broadcasting in widescreen and full screen, depending on whether you are watching the analog(full) or digital(wide) signal. I get my signal from an antenna and receive both at the moment. If you are getting a fullscreen signal, it's the cable/satellite company using the analog signal instead of digital one or possibly altering the digital signal to full screen.
Even in widescreen, this episode seemed to be more hype that substance for me. I wasn't really fond of the premise, but going back in time was handled better than I thought it would be. I was disappointed he got rid of the ring.

He should stayed and fight the press!
You do not win with runing away from police:p
But it was really cool when all the cops shooting at him! And when he rescuated lois from the cops:D
That Lake girl should really be in a cell, but with all the test in black creek I can understand her. A little bit...

I absolutely LOVED this Episode! :D
It was simply GREAT!
Lois was Great, Chloe was Great... even Linda was Great. ;)
Sad about the ending though. I was like "Tell her the damn secret, Clark, JUST DO IT!" throughout that whole scene... but no, he chose to just ignore her and (like future Lois herself said) made it look like she wasn't important at all. :(
----- Added 3 Minutes later -----
Loved it. One of my faves so far this season. Excellent Doomsday interaction.
Yea, Davis/Doomsday back for this Episode! :D And better then ever. I felt sad about Linda, though (even if she's a heartless *itch), getting chocked by the pillow like that...

A little late to the party, but I thought this episode was pretty bad until close to the end. It's not good when they try to get away with a poor episode by throwing in a dramatic scene between Clark and his love interest. It's like people will forgive anything as long as there's some Clark angst tossed in.
Everything progressed too quickly after Clark revealed his secret. It was so unbelievable that I was sure they were going to have it be a dream. I mean, policemen opening fire on him in the middle of his home for no reason? Linda Lake hiding in the bushes and overhearing Clark mention the ring? Linda provoking a monstrous Sam to break her restraints? And Sam conveniently tying up the loose end that was Linda Lake by suffocating her? Oh, wait. They gave him the red eyes, so it was actually the beast that murdered her, and Sam is still a good person, right?
I can't forget about the first 25 or 30 minutes just because the cafe scene with Lois and Clark was really good. Infamous started OK but quickly went downhill, and it never got back on level ground for me.

I loved the scenes where Clark revealed his secret to Lois, the talk in the barn, and the parts when he and Lois were rained on in both the original timeline and the reset one. I also liked the scene leading up to the cafe scene where Lois told Clark her side. When it comes to the cafe scene itself, I understood why Clark didn't go sit with her. He's very confused and they're not at the same level of understanding of their relationship yet. They will recover from this though.
