The Oc vs. One Tree Hill

I have heard this topic almost everywhere i go. I watch OTH time and time again but im hooked 2 the OC. It seems like The OC is more funnie,a nd OTH is more drama. IDK. What do u guys think?

This is an extremely tough choice!!

I really enjoy both The O.C. and One Tree Hill.

However, the slight edge goes to The O.C.. The characters are better.

I voted OTH. The OC is waning on me. It has more of a comedic element; I'll give it that, but after that Oliver mess... I just tuned out. That story line was horrendous IMHO. I haven't seen such a blunder on One Tree Hill so it definitely gets my vote. Besides, it's on at a more convenient time for me too. ;)

OC just seems to recycle its own plot lines and take itself a little too seriously. OTH at least makes fun of itself and has a whole over the top soap opera story line. I voted OTH (besides the cast is better looking IMO).

I diagree with you saying that OTH is an over the top soap opera. What is so over the top? I see it as more of a dramatic comedy.

The OC got my vote. I'm hooked! Of course it has it's bad episodes and its good episodes. When I start with a show, I stick with it.

I thought I would add to my post.

First Season

This is a tough decision for me. My favorite season for both OTH and The OC is the first season. Each show had their best overall seasons in S1. The Pilot episode in each The OC as well as OTH is my favorite episode for both shows. What I loved about OTH in its first season was that it gave the appearance of a sports drama. The sibling rivalry, the focus on basketball, and Dan kept me tuning in each and everyweek. I also love a good outsider type story, which is why I liked OC right away. I loved the premise of taking a kid who got all the wrong breaks in life, and throwing him into high society. As a whole, I have to say that I enjoyed the first season of The OC just a tad bit more, but the first season for both were outstanding.

Second Season

I can honestly say that I was not a big fan of OTH's second season. All the things that made the show great in season one - basketball, sibling rivalry, etc. were gone. Dan's screentime was also cut substantially and he is one of the main reasons why OTH is such a good show. The show focused more on relationship drama, and as a whole was pretty dissapointing. The new developments - Felix, Chris Keller, and Lucas's ACM condition were all things I felt took away from the show. The ACM condition especially bugged me, because it seemed to pop up out of the blue. ACM seems like a condition that would effect you for your whole life, and Lucas was always able to play basketball with no problems.

While the second season of The OC was definately not as good as the first, I still feel that The OC had the better second season. It stuck to the same premise that made the first season enjoyable. I also thought that adding Ryan's brother Trey to the mix made for some good drama. The season ending cliffhanger was excellent.

Third Season

It is funny because I watched the first two seasons of both shows on TV. However, this year I have only seen about 50% of OTH, and I have seen none of The OC's third season. But based on what I hear, The OC has gone down the toilet, and is pretty terrible. From what I have seen of OTH this season, it has definately improved over S2. I mean, they made Dan mayor which I thought was a stroke of genius. He has been, and always will be my favorite character. I swear, that my friend and I are probably the only two people who watch that actually like Dan. They also brought basketball back into the show as well, which is one of the main reasons why I started watching. While I still feel that S1 will always be OTH's best season, S3 has shown a major improvement, and from what I hear, the end of S3 has some truly great episodes.

One Tree Hill. For one, I've only seen The O.C. once, and it was OK, but I don't watch it regularly. I watch OTH every week, though. ;)

The OC was good in season 1, but sometimes the drama gets a bit too much. The characters and dialogue are great though

OC season one is better than One Tree Hill season one but after that OC kinda slipped up a bit too much whereas OTH started improving.
The OC lost me for most of season two thanks to Zach and Rebecca and later Carter. I did recurb my enthusiasm in season 3 but Johnny and the Newport High lot were irritating.
Currently I prefer One Tree Hill but I like them both.

no contest...One Tree Hill all the way. The oc was good at best in their first season but now it's really been going down hill. However, this season might pick up considering the spoiled brat *cough* misha barton *cough* is gone from the show.

i think a better comparison would be lost or OTH.

Did anyone else dance round the room when Marissa died or was that just me?- FYI most over dramatic death ever, so you get a serious head injury HOW do you manage to come round, recognise ryan make a coherent statement then die?!
Personally though I think Caitlin Copper will destroy OC but as long as they dont destroy Sandy/Kirsten or Seth/Summer relationships I will keep watching.
As for One Tree Hill I may be forced to reconsider my vote if they continue to play the Lucas/Brooke/ Peyton thing. It just gets annoying after 3 seasons.
