Coldplay have reportedly revealed at the Brit Awards that they are splitting up.

Singer Chris Martin implied that the group may plan to take a break as they won awards for best single and Best album.

As he picked up the second prize, he said: "This means so much to us, especially now. It's going to be a few years before you see us again."

He added: "People are fed up with us - and so are we."

Friends claim Martin is putting the band on hold so he can spend more time with his wife Gwyneth Paltrow. They are expecting their second baby in April.

The 28-year-old singer later told Brits host Chris Evans: "You had a break, so are we."

Coldplay landed a record deal in 1999, and have recorded three award-winning LPs: Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head and 2005's X & Y.

I adore Coldplay. I agree with Nat in saying Clocks is probably the best of their songs. The instrumental work there cannot be touched. Coldplay has never been in the genre of music I like, but their style is great. I love The Scientist and Fix You as well.

Chris Martin said that after the world tour is over they would be calling it quits because they wanted the band to end on a high note. However, they said the same thing after X & Y. I think they'll go their seperate ways and if they don't make it, they'll come back together.

Hmmm that depends on when you heard it. Technically, they already came out with a new CD, Prospekts March which is basically the B-sides to Viva La Vida. But I just read an interview with Chris Martin who says he wants the band to release as much good stuff as they can by the end of the decade, so it looks like they're not going to quit. Which is very good news.

The Kid Rock song and that "turn the car around" song by OAR were played constantly those 2 months. I heard that OAR song 1 night in July about 5 times from 8pm-8am...Yes we really fished all night!! We also heard "Viva La Vida" a few times...

I've been trying to find a place that just sells the EP, but I've only come across the deluxe album version which includes it. The songs from it sound pretty good though.

The Ep is nice, not as good as Rush of B-Sides To Your Head, but I'd suggest finding it on itunes, maybe? They might have it cheaper. But you def. need to listen to life in technicolor II.

Yep, I'm pretty sure LiJ is just the song without Reign of Love. LITii is one of my favorite songs, now! They're making a music video (to LITii) that should be out soon! :D

In the remix of LIJ they cut out reign of love, but the guitars are slightly altered as well. Besides that, it's basically the same thing.

Chris Martin seems to enjoy the hip-hop/rap scene though. I thought Lost? was rather unique, to say the least.

Saw this yesterday: Coldplay is apparently going back into the studio after their world tour ends. They're going to be reuniting with Viva La Vida producer Brian Eno.

Sounds good. I thought the band would take a break after so much touring, but nice to see that they're not just going to sit back with their latest success.

They haven't released it. I assume it was recorded for the Viva La Vida sessions, but a live version will be on that new live CD. It's not great, it's alright. But it's decent to hear some new stuff.

The Sun and Angry Ape are reporting that Coldplay is already working on their fifth album. After the recent ending of their Viva la Vida World Tour back in September, the band has taken a short resting period. Coldplay is soon to lay down some demos "while they're fresh".

It is expected to release Late 2010.

Coldplay? Nah. How about Coldpray? Just this morning, The Sun announced that Coldplay has found a new recording location, an abandoned church in London, for their fifth studio release.

The Sun also reports the new CD will be "stripped down" and have an acoustic-feel to the album. Chris Martin and the band decided this after they felt they were seen as rock stars who played to large audiences, but had no loyalty to fans.

In early 2010, the band plans on playing a live version of the new songs to their closest friends and family, and soon after, begin playing in smaller venues.

Today, fortunately, Coldplay posted a video on their Twitter/FB page titled "And finally...", which are leading many fans - including me - to believe tomorrow will be the official announcement of their fifth LP.

Thoughts on the new album Mylo Xyloto? I like it, fave songs are Every Teardrop, Paradise and Charlie Brown. Overall probably not as much of a masterpiece as Viva la Vida or A Rush of Blood to the Head though.

I love Mylo Xyloto. I've done more than enough reviews of it since October and before, so I'll keep it short. I very much enjoy Mylo Xyloto for its uniqueness, and I think people give it way​ too much crap.

I'm also getting to see this live this June! Finally.

I think the new album is good. At first listen, I was really taken back at how different the sound was. But on a second listen, I really enjoyed it. Not as much as Viva La Vida, but I think that might be their magnum opus. I loved how the entire album was about a bad breakup. Not their best, but still really enjoyed it and was a highlight for the year for me.
