View Full Version : Did anyone believe Lex Vadar was Michael Rosenbaum?

Obviously everyone reading this or even anyone who reads the credits knows that Michael Rosenbaum is not in the show anymore. The creators obviously went for the covered face and disguised voice approach because they wanted to keep the illusion that Lex Luthor still looks like a bald MR because that is what the viewer believes he looks like. Audiences are not going to accept a new actor without (and probably even with) a lame excuse like having had plastic surgery to disguise his identity.

My problem is that I can't believe for one minute that it actually worked. Not because the actor's eye and shoulders (the only parts we could see) did not look like MR but because he didn't act like him. It felt like another actor's take on Lex Luthor when what we should have had is another actor doing an impression of Rosenbaum's take on Lex Luthor.

If the speculation I've read on other posts that Ollie Queen has somehow been replaced by Lex Luthor bears fruit then you can bet Justin Hartley will be doing a Rosenbaum impression, so it upset me that this actor didn't do as good a job.

Here endeth the rant.

I agree, I like to pretend that I don't notice all those flaws but you're right, I miss MR so much but after watching those past episodes of SV, who could blame him? certainly not me.

Whateverr. If we ever see his face again on the show, and I mean for real.... It will Mike Rosenbaum.

I didn't mind it. Obviously it wasn't him, but whatever, it worked. I actually thought it SOUNDED kind of like him, for what that's worth.

I didn't believe it, especially at the end when the credit ran and it said "Voice of Lex Luthor" then two actors names!

I have to say that the part of Lex that they did show, did look a lot like MR.You have to give PS3 credit on this.Just like with Doomsday, they are good at camouflaging in order to protect the characters.

No, I knew that wasn't MR, but I don't let behind the scenes politics get in my way of enjoying the show. Lex Luthor IS Lex Luthor.

I would be interested to hear if any viewers who don't read forums, don't care about who is playing who, just enjoy the show, whether any of those viewers could tell that it wasn't the same guy? If anyone has any friends who fall into that category please let us know!

I knew it wasn't MR. However, he looked and even kind of sounded like him, so it was cool with me.

I, too, knew that it wasn't Michael Rosenbaum, but I will say that I personally thought they did a good job of casting the person who LOOKED like Lex. The eye and the part of his face and body that we saw didn't look too dissimilar, but I will say that the voice totally ruined the effect for me. How hard would it've been to have convinced MR to do just one little recording? He's done the voices of cartoon characters for a long time -- it wouldn't have taken him all that long...

I knew it wasn't him, but a part of me wanted to see him make an unexpected, unannounced appearence, but we all know th CW is bad at keeping secrets so even if it was him, we would have known a long time ago.

But the first shot of him through the Dolls eyes DID look like Rosenbaum.

I think I would've believed it if I didn't know MR wasn't on the show anymore.

LexVader, omg that is what he is from now on. I'm not even a Lex fan and I just found that scene weak. Like they couldn't leave him as being in the forefront of every characters mind, they had to bring him back as a Darth Vader wannabe and why you ask? To break up Lana and Clark for good! Oh good gracious! Lex Luthor and Michael did not deserve to be crapped on like that.

it'd have been believeable if they had used MR's voice.

I knew from the beginning it wasnt him, they definitely haven't his voice, the voices were very different, but the appearence was ok..

It didn't bother me at all. It was ok. The fact that it wasn't MR playing Lex was clearly oveshadowed by the Clana nonsense. At least for me.

It was obvious it was'nt MR's stunt double!!! Screen time was short for this actor but, to me the chemistry wasn't there!!

I'm pretty sure Lex Luthor would have done more than break up Lana and Clark. More like kill Lana. But there ya go... dramaville. This is 'evil Lex' at work... breaking couples up.

Next they'll bring in Otis.

'OTIS!'

'COMING RIGHT AWAY MR LUTHOR!'

I didn't mind it that much, it was obvious it wasn't Michael, but about the guy acting like Lex, I think he sounded pretty evil to me, of course he couldn't act like MR because he isn't him, but he still did a pretty good job for the few minutes he was on, and I did think his eye was pretty close to MR's.

actually what he did I think was way more evil than killing Lana, when Clark thought Lana was dead, even though he was pretty sad, he did somewhat move on. But he did this to both of them, not only to Clark, he made them choose between staying together or saving the world. Punished them both for loving each other, punished her for being greedy and stealing his suit. I think it was pretty awful what he did to them, they can't get close to each other, and I think it is even worse for Lana to know she is poison to Clark. I completely understood her when she said she couldn't see him on the street and not be able to touch him. Who wouldn't wanna touch Tom Welling?hhehe

Nope. It was silly to bring in a fake Lex. I didnt even feel like that was Lex.
MR is Lex fullstop

it'd have been believeable if they had used MR's voice.

It kind of sounded like his voice but distorted.

It would've been great if they got Rosenbaum to actually do the scene. TPTB should've agreed to let Rosenbaum wear a skull cap instead of insisting he shave his head.

Lana doesn't even come across as loving Clark. She's too obsessed with power and revenge. The only time I've seen her genuinely loving Clark was in maybe season 1 to 3. After that it rapidly disappeared. I didn't really feel any love with her return either. Sure, Clark was puppy dog eyed again, but Lana just seems to use him as a part of her delusional pursuit to help people with her new found superpowers.

I didn't believe Lex Vader was Michael Rosenbaum. However, I did believe he was Lex Luthor. And, I thought he did a great job.
