6.5?

6.5 is bad.
"Lana proves not to be that useful now that she has superpowers. She now has the ability to follow Clark wherever he goes and miss giant bombs on the rooftops of buildings. I don't know how Lana managed to check the entire Daily Planet and completely avoid seeing the large kryptonite bomb on the roof. Thankfully, Clark shows her how it's done."
I thought exactly the same.
Lana said she searched the entire building and yet she misses a HUGE bomb on the ROOFTOP?

That review was bad, but not at all untrue. I agreed with the majority. In fact, I almost felt as though I authored these words:
What's troubling though, and why this episode's conclusion is so frustrating to watch, is that the writers were given an opportunity here and they missed it. This was a chance to allow both Lana and Clark to part ways on their own terms. It would have been great to see a strong willed woman leaving Smallville behind because she chose to, not because some silly plot development forced her out.
This is what I have been saying all morning, that no one should be happy about last night. It was a terrible failure for all parties involved. I hope PS3 are happy with themselves. They have utterly disappointed so many of their loyal fans!

The good news is that when Smallville returns in a month, Lois will be back and Clark will hopefully be done with this school boy crush once and for all – until the next time Lana finds an excuse to return home.
Keep Clark away from Lois. He doesnt deserve her. ¬¬

Wicked Lois - I love your avi though I must ask, is it true? I've never been inebriated so I have no clue whether there is genuine truth in that statement. Lol.

If Lois is the one who's gonna exorcize that school boy complex from him, one of Clark's biggest problems, how is she a second prize???!! Really, i'm starting to get extremely mad with this second choice stuff :mad:. She would be a second choice has he started something more serious with her in the first half of season 8. I want her close to Clark, cause she brings out the hero in him and i want see fricking Superman!!!!!!!

Im not fussed about how the writers chose to end their relationship as its come to the same conclusion anyway as Lana is now gone. Plus the acting was great.
Too quote another poster;
"that scene closed the book on an iconic relationship that has helped shape Clark Kent into the man he is and will become. It proved to me that he can love Lois strong and more than he can ever love any other woman.
What it proved most to me is that this Clark Kent can love the human race enough to endure the most excruciating pain for it. "

The second choice concept is very simplistic in nature when you really think about it. When you apply it to a real world scenario, or even a fictional scenario where rationality and common sense are in place, it holds no value.
People can cry second choice all they want. It doesn't make it true. :)

Hit the nail on the head. I expected to see two grown-ups come to a mutual understanding that it just wasn't working anymore and not what we've been given.

I agree with you Superman's Wife (lol, I like so much the usernames on this forum).
I don't want to tell my life but my husband could have been seen as a "second choice" when we first dated. And it was really really far from the reality : it makes now 19 years we are together. So, you are right, second choice seems to be simplistic and in real life it doesn't work like this (I don't say it doesn't exist at all but it is not always the case) that is why I am confident for the Clois to come...:)
Welcome by the way:)

I believe it went something like this:
[Clark superspeeds into the Daily Planet]
Clark: Lana, did you find the bomb?
Lana: No, Clark, I looked everywhere.
Clark: Wow. Nothing?
Lana: Well... there was this huge, green glowing mechanism on the rooftop.
Clark: Isn't that the bomb?
Lana: I just told you I didn't find the bomb.
Clark: Then what was the huge, green glowing mechanism on the rooftop?
Lana: Personally, I thought it was a microwave.
Clark: I hate you, and you are dumb.

Thank for the welcome! :)
And yes, seeing this whole second choice concept for what it is apparently is easier when you have real world experience to back it up! I can relate to your scenario 100 percent. I too am with someone right now who I cannot see living without, and yet a few years back he wasn't in the picture and I thought I was in heaven. Things change. People change. And that change isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes it's quite wonderful! :)

Who listen to this kind of a review anyway, this is just a critic explaining how much this not good for television these days. However, it doesn't concern me I feel this episode is great and it has answered a lot of fan-waited topics: Lex, Toyman, Lana's fate, the Clana closure.

the Clana closure.

Did we watch the same episode??

No, for my sanity I will have to pretend that we did not.

It maybe have been put on a pause: she left again, but she only did because she has this suit that absorbed Kryptonite and maybe she's going to find a way to get rid of it by finding something lead-like until then she's gone and Clana won't be hear again until KK returns for a possible surprise appearance or if there is a season 9 or something...
I just don't know what's inside those minds in those writers/producers' heads.

There is one thing I loved in the episode, namely the Clois foreshadowing. What, you missed it?
It's when Clark told Lana all he ever wanted was a partner to work with him side by side like his mom and dad. ;)

6.0 to 6.9
Passable, but just barely. TV shows in this range have more blemishes than strengths, but still might be worth a look if you're into the show's genre.
Id have to agree with the reviewer, it felt overly contrived. They should've parted on their own terms.

I especially like that the reviewer pointed out that Oliver wouldn't let Chloe pass it off as Brainiac.
This arc should've happened last season. The end scene was great, but all those episodes for one scene that provides the characters with no growth?

6.5 is about right. the one thing that redeemed the episode to me is the Oliver and chloe scene. it was pretty intense and proved to me that not all superheroes have the same goal like Clark does. but the rest of it wasnt very good. as a matter of fact, the whole lana having powers thing was completely set up just to have a dramatic ending which further cheapens how this whole thing ended.

The ending line of the review, I agree.

There were definitely better ways to end the relationship but they decided to go the most dramatic they could. It made for a beautiful scene IMO but was unnecessary in that there were other ways to go about writing Lana off. I agree with what the review says BUT would rate it a tad bit higher. I did actually like the episode, lol
