Of course she's missed! Not much humour in the show, when she's not around. She will eventually be Clark's soulmate and the love of his life. It's fun watching their journey toward that end. How can not you not like someone who is straightforward and frank, honest to a point that some perhaps conceive as rude, but at least Clark knows where he stands and she is being herself. It's better not to compromise oneself and not be overly protective of another one's feelings. Can't wait to see her in the new episode next month! She gives life to this show. :)

How I miss Lois Lane. Let me count the ways:
1. Perty
2. Comic relief
3. Lightens the dark mood
4. Clois sparks flying keep me captivated
5. Daily Planet stuff would be nice because it feels like a REAL superman show when she is around.
6. Clark is less pathetic, of course.

5 - I totally miss her. Without her, the show can't possibly be the same.I hope she'll be back after this episode...but it's better that sh eis'nt here yet because what is hppening betwen Lana and Clark would stand betwen Clark's and her future relationship

The show hasn't been the same since she left. The fact is that Smallville's dynamic changed with ED showed up in season 4 and now that shes been gone for so long the show feels like its missing something. Of course, when you get rid of Lois for a Lana arc, there are bound to be problems. COME BACK LOIS!!!

Absolutely I miss her - for every reason stated above and the fact that ED lights up the scene when she's there! SV gets too heavy handed in its melodrama and seems less entertaining when she's gone.
I miss her, for some odd reason Clark acts more like Superman when she's around.
VERY WELL SAID - Sort of says it all;);)
Mrs. Superman
02-05-2009, 01:50 PM
I miss Lois Lane but for a very specific reason. . . she's the 'heart' of Superman. She, more-or-less embodies everything Clark loves/will come to love and is the constant reminder of why Clark Kent becomes Superman and why he consistantly helps the people of Metropolis/the world.
In the 'New Adventures Of Lois & Clark', Lois Lane constantly reminded Clark of why 'Superman' was needed/wanted in Season 1 alone, not even counting the number of times she did so in the next three seasons.
In the comics, she more-or-less fills the same role. And it's the same here. Without her, we've got the show filled with characters but it just seems kind of... empty. As if everyone is going through the motions but it lacks purpose, it lacks feeling, it lacks... heart.
And Lois Lane brings that to the show; Erica Durance, perhaps, portrays the best version/ideal of Lois Lane that has been seen on film - that's yet to be ascertained.
.. but I hope my view/point/opinion has been conveyed adequately.
For all the reasons that you stated, I feel the same...I miss her! :(

I miss her smile, i miss her sarcasm, i miss her lively spirit, her obnouxiouness, her boldness, her braveness and most importantly, her way of bringing out the Super hero in Clark kent. Whenever i'm feeling down i remember of her; Lois never gives in, no matter how difficult things are. 5TH MARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think she's the best ever. If you were Superman and had a choice between all those who portrayed Lois, who would you want to be with for the rest of your life (or hers I guess)?
Margot was maybe the second or third best to me.

I miss Lois because of all the SV characters her is the most true to form. She is honest, sometimes to a fault  and expects others to be the same with her. She is sarcastic and witty which is seriously lacking when she's not on the screen. She tough enough to kick ass and yet still vulnerable. She's fearless when going after a story and always there for her friends ( I think back to when she saw the pain Clark fealt when he first saw the "Dear John" video from Lana and she immediately when to comfort him with a hug) and she's sexy and not afraid to flaunt it.
Even into the fourth year her character is so vibrant and refreshing. She isn't weighed down with all the angsty history that Lana/Clark have, she has a great onscreen rapport with Chloe and of course just because, well, she's Lois and so iconic :D

Belated welcome and you are right- Lois is still vibrant and refreshing and so non-angst. Even if she were on all of the time, I think she would continue to be the same and perhaps Clark would stop his moping, non-flying, regressive behavior much sooner.

Erica is the best lois ever peroid.
Man, do I disagree with this. Teri Hatcher is the best Lois Lane hands down.
I haven't been a huge fan of Smallville's Lois in the past because a lot of her appearances were forced and didn't have much of a purpose. We saw her bicker with Clark, serve coffee, be Johnathan's COS, and get into relationships with guest heroes. They even used her for product placement with the car in Sollitude. Plus, all she ever does for two seasons is say how much she hates reporting and how she has no desire to be one. Then with the flick of a "lightswitch" in Zod, she wants to be a reporter all of a sudden, and makes it from the Inquisitor to the Daily Planet in record time. Then to make matters worse, she sleeps with her editor. I think that is why her giving reporting tips to Clark bugs me. She acts like she is a veteran, when she is still green herself.
However, this season, Erica's Lois has grown on me. She looks far better as a brunette and getting to see her working with Clark at the DP is much better. So in response to the question of "Do I miss Lois?" I would have to say yes because she helps the progress of the show to move forward. If I were asked that question in previous seasons though, I would have said no.

I miss her because she's LOIS LANE! Unique, brilliant, sassy, funny, clever, bossy... when she's around, Clark is HIMSELF, she takes the best out of him, she pushes him to do good, he doesn't brood, and he is more like the Superman we all love and want him to become!

what's not to miss about lois lane? compare the clark kent with lois lane and the clark kent with lana lang... total opposites. lois somehow brings out the funny, sarcastic, and getting things done clark, while lana brings out the clark that just wants to stay at home and try to be 'normal'.

Allison is contracted for 22 episodes this season, that is why Chloe is in Metropolis. Based on dialogue in Bulletproof, we can infer that Chloe is traveling between Metropolis and Star City in between episodes.

I don't know if the showrunners hate her because they force her to miss episodes/refuse to sign her full-time and completely ruin the show in her absence...or if they love her because they forced her to miss when they completely ruined the show.
Either way this show absolutely SUCKS without her as everyone has seen the last two weeks.

Loved ED from her first episode on the show but this interview really shows how professional she is as an actress and how she really understands the characters on the show and is not demanding that the writers put her in the middle of the Lana Clark mess...
ED is good enough to wait for. While clana fans will want to paint Lana as someone who made a sacrifice - Lois was really the selfless one. She put her own feelings aside so Clark could have his chance with Lana. Lois has matured to a young adult very nicely and hopefully they will believably allow Clark to catch up to her.

When I think of lois, I think of season six's crimson. "Highlight of your life" She uplifts the show, something this SV needs. But it also needs a proper balance of villains. SV needs a real uncaring crafty villian like lionel was in the first half of SV. Anyway, pointless to throw that in. Sure, I'm missing Lois, she really keeps me interested, no matter what form, comic, movie, TV she's just a tough character all around. Look at the way she handle the Clana situation in the bride, held her head high and allowed Clark to basically settle his relationship with lana. Also, to her credit, she knows when a relationship is over, like with Oliver. She knew it just wasn't meant to be, and she let it go. Got to respect that.

Agreed 100% I like her day 1 on season 4. Very refreshing, the funny thing is, she still is refreshing.
Part of her refreshing quality could be the fact that we get so few episodes of her as well, so in general, most of the episodes she appears in, she plays a major part of the episode and is not subjected to too much exposition acting like they give to Chloe a lot or the scattered Martha Kent S6 scenes...But yeah she was like a firecracker to the show, she shook up the dynamics immediately and was an annoyance to Clark...but all us guys know, you can't stay too annoyed at a chick who has the body of ED ;) Aqua is a bearable episode for the Lois in her bikini shots. That's a woman....what the hell was Clark doing playing lotion boy with Lana for?

Loved ED from her first episode on the show but this interview really shows how professional she is as an actress and how she really understands the characters on the show and is not demanding that the writers put her in the middle of the Lana Clark mess...
ED is good enough to wait for. While clana fans will want to paint Lana as someone who made a sacrifice - Lois was really the selfless one. She put her own feelings aside so Clark could have his chance with Lana. Lois has matured to a young adult very nicely and hopefully they will believably allow Clark to catch up to her.
Very nicely said. Erica's a really sweet and down-to-earth girl who deserves far better than the showrunners have given her this second half.

You know who else I miss? Clark Kent...man, I feel like I haven't seen him in a while! :( I miss him!!!
So TRUE!
Well -- what Erica said, "She'll deserve him" -- Oh she already IS! It's Clark who doesn't deserve her.

I voted '4' because I like Lois as a character, but I also like episodes that don't feature her. Although the last few ones haven't been on top of my list. "Legion" and "Prey" are examples of Lois-less episodes that I did like. That being said, I can't wait to see Lois back :).

Yea I completely agree! He totally does not deserve her! I want to see Lois diss him over and over and over until it sinks in that she is too good for him. Lois Lane knows how to do closure right. Blue jacket SVClark? Not on her level.
Now if the real Clark Kent comes back into the picture, i may change my mind, but there needs to be a lot of redeeming for his character before that can happen.

That's a woman....what the hell was Clark doing playing lotion boy with Lana for?The best ED scene ever, thanks for reminding me of that one!:rotfl: What the hell is Clark doing! (shakes head)

I miss her because she's hilarious and brings out the man in Clark. Not only that Clark seems to be becoming Superman when she's around. But when that Lana girl is around, he becomes high school Clark. It's gross to watch. Lois <3

March 5?!?! I thought this year they were going to go straight through after the winter break?
All the great momentum they were building up through Bride was pretty much killed. I thought Legion was also great and so was Bulletproof (except for the ending). The last 2 episodes (Power & Requiem) were just very disappointing in terms of character development.

^^^like we all say, X-ray, the real Clark, the one in his red jacket-blue blouse superhero combo is only on screen with Lois; when Lois isn't, we see the superwus in his blue jacket-red blouse combo. Gee, SV is in major need of some happiness. It's a completely different show without Lois. There's no fun, joy, or laughter. It's just sad and dull. If it weren't for Lois I would stop watching. All this soap opera dramatics is getting a bit annoying. Gah, March 5th can't come soon enough!

I just have to think how much better these episodes would have been if they would have thrown in the Lois factor. Something was obviously going on with her and Clark before Lana return. It would have been interesting to see how Clark dealt with bring torn between two women. Plus, she always gets the best lines!

Yup. She brings a breath of fresh air into the show. She's much needed and much missed.
And I feel that they would have been forced to write a better arc if she was around. If Durance had a full season contract and they had no choice but to shove her in? (Like Mack.) Then I think it would have resulted in a few key Lois scenes that would have positively impacted the rest of the season and her character's arc in general.
For example, they could have filmed a conversation between Chloe & Lois in "Legion" that was in Star City. A reunion scene... Lois could have asked about Clark & told Chloe that she was going to hang out in Star City for awhile. She could have even made a joke about how that would give Chloe a break and they'd take turns taking care of Jimmy. Immediately, Chloe's trips to Metropolis would make sense.
In "Bulletproof", Lois and Clark should have met a few times at the DP -- perhaps at the hospital, where they were both investigating different stories. Maybe she could even have bumped into Lana/Clark when Lana brought him coffee and rolled her eyes & walked away. Then, Chloe's convo with Clark makes more sense & we see Clark's confusion play out and an awkwardness to the Clois relationship. We might -- if they gave a damn -- be able to see Lois immersing herself in her work & having an multi-episode arc of her own start to play out. (For example, she meets with a source in "Bulletproof" that doesn't have a pay-off until 7 episodes later.) Would it be so awful for Lois to have her own arc & story that carries through over the course of several episodes? To give her a scene or scenes in every episode that links to other episodes?
In "Power", it should have been Lois who walked in on Clark when he was watching the video. Sure, it would have hurt to see Lois have to go through that. But, let's face it, she shouldn't be surprised. It should have been HER who had the conversation with Clark about, "Why did Lana go? Have you even asked her? What are you waiting for....?" That way, Chloe doesn't look a flip-flopping fool and Lois looks like the better woman, because she understands that Clark's heart belongs to Lana & she's not interested in standing around being his second choice. This would also give Clark an opportunity to address the "almost kiss" and if Lois brushes it off, then it makes it so Clark can close the Lois chapter without looking bad. On the one hand, he's got Lana to worry about and, on the other, Lois is not interested in pursuing anything with him. Neither one looks like an ass... they just both look like they're making the wrong choices and the viewers would think, "How ironic, his future wife is telling him to go back to his ex-girlfiend."
In "Power", Lois should have been kept away from the whole storyline regarding Lana, but she could have had one scene (that's the lovely thing about 22-episode contracts. The actor can get just one scene, but it can make a huge difference.) That scene could have been related to her own arc... the one that crosses over several episodes. A big story like on the Intergang or something. She didn't even need to get involved in the Lana/Clark mess, because she already washed her hands of it. And Chloe? Her scenes should have taken place in Star City. Clark has superspeed... he could have run to her.
In "Requiem", I would have liked to see Lois will all the reporters at the DP and see folks being evacuated. When Lana decided to save the world, it would have been nice to see Lois know it. I didn't get the sense that Lana was all about keeping her secret from the world. If Lois saw that Lana had become a superhero and that she became poisoned by the Green K, it would be a great way for Lois to know that it was something bizarre that kept Lana/Clark apart. There was no need for Lois to know Clark's secret... it was enough that she realized that LANA had superpowers and some complications came inbetween them because of this.
This would all lead to "Infamous", where it would no longer be weird to see her there.
Honestly, if Lois HAD been around and written well, I think people wouldn't be so up in arms. It's a combination of factors that makes this so hard for Lois fans:
1) Out of sight, out of mind mentality. Not only is she gone, no one even cares that she exists.
2) Why the hell is CHLOE there, again, when it's Chloe's husband that's injured?
3) Clearly, they have nothing for Lois to do if she's not Clark's LI. That's a problem.
4) The arc just served to make Clark look bad, because he worked so closely with Lois in the first half of the season, cared about her, and spent time with her. Yet, as soon as Lana enters, he throws that way so he can relive his past with Lana.

She's nothing like the real Lois considering she cheated ehr way into the DP and got handed everything instead of working hard for it so I don't miss her at all. I'd be happy if she never returned since her storylines are B plots and are incredibley boring. She can stay where ever she is; the show would only improve without her.

I love the character of Lois Lane, both in the comics and in Smallville. Erica Durance definitely does her character justice. The show seems empty without her. I love her attitude and the banter between her and Clark. She has an amazing personality. Oh and the hints of the future are some of the most entertaining parts of the show.
I must say I also miss Jimmy.

I really wonder what exactly she's doing in Star City. It's so unlike her to just sit by Jimmy's bed and do nothing (shouldn't that be Chloe's job anyway?). I really wish they would have mentioned it in passing. Like:
Clark or Ollie or Lana: Hey, Chloe you're back. How's Jimmy doing?
Chloe: Better, that's why I could come back for a little.
Clark or Ollie or Lana: Glad to hear Star City is treating him so good.
Chloe: Yeah, him and Lois, too. She is hell bound chasing some big story there.

I voted with a "4." I had no problem with her being absent for a couple of episodes, but I am definitely missing her by now. It would have been excellent to have brought her back WHILE Lana was still around so that perhaps Clark would've had the chance to appear to be a little more conflicted instead of pondering whether or not he should get back together with Lana for two seconds and then flinging himself back onto the Clana roller coaster. It'll be awesome to have Lois back -- it's about time.
And PS3, don't throw some nonsense at us about her staying with Jimmy ALL THIS TIME that he's been in Star City and then at Met General. She's got her own life, and her own job as a reporter. Do you think that her editors would really be okay with her taking a couple of weeks (or more) off work to stay with her cousin-in-law? Ridiculous.

You're right, the SV version of CK/Superman is a pitifully hollow shadow of what the mythos CK/Superman is. The SV version doesn't deserve someone as spectacular as Lois Lane but is just about pathetic enough to suit the power hungry, delusions of grandeur Lana Lang.

In her own way, Lois tries to save the world, too. When she first appeared, she was looking for her cousin's killer. Since then, she has taken on a number of villians. She tried to expose the Green Arrow when she thought he was just a robber. She went after Lex when she learned that he had experimented on her firend Wes Keenan. This year, she took on Maxima and the psychotic jeweler, even when Clark was trying to convince her to stay out of trouble..
In fact, the reason that Lois and Clark are constantly butting heads is that they are often chasing the same villians.
And Lois does it without superpowers!

I was over at 'Spoiler TV' and noticed the side column list of 'Recent Posts' and decided to read the one labled "The latest from TV Guide". Someone had emailed Matt and asked him for some 'News' from Smallville. Well, Matt's response gave a Spoiler about "Infamous" and Lois Lane's return. In the 'comments' section a couple of people said that 'Lois sucks!' My comment was in response to them, and it seems appropriate to post some of it here. I was sharing WHY I missed Lois and feel she's now necessary for Smallville. BTW, YES, I Really, Really miss Lois. I'm TOO Happy about her return in the next new episode. The Reason I miss and love the character so much is this:
Erica Durance's "Lois Lane" is an Amazing woman. She's a 'humanitarian' in the sense that she has great compassion for the 'everyday man', or the 'underdog' who could use some help or relief from the injustices of this world. She believes in doing 'Whatever She Can' with whatever 'Natural' talents she's been given and Skills she's worked hard to hone to do her part in Helping to make the world a better place. She admits that she's Not Perfect, but she still Likes herself.
Although she's Not predictable, you can always depend on Lois to be 'Lois'. She has high standards and personal convictions, she's dependable, honest, trustworthy, and doesn't hide a handful of secrets behind her back. She's upfront and often speaks her mind before editing what comes out of her mouth, but at least, she's true to herself and doesn't apologize to anybody for it. Also, if a story isn't involved, she minds her own business. What gets on my nerves about her is her impulsivness, but that also makes her an exciting personality. I'm not fond of her frequent bursts of overconfidence, but that's part of what makes her daring-do attitude interesting. She's self-sufficient and independent; an honorable role model for any young girl. She's not hard to read; everyone knows when she's nervous, because she'll never stop talking. She confessed those 'obvious' flaws to A.C. Curry in "Aqua", and his admiring response was, "I know, and those are your 'good' qualities."
However, she's endeared herself to me on Smallville, because she's proven to be the type of person who will Never Give Up, no matter how great the odds seem to be against her, and she doesn't turn her back on her friends. That kind of personality and drive can Inspire almost anyone. That's why I always Love it when she's in the story, because her character always brings with it a certain degree of Positive Energy, and I really enjoy that. I also Really enjoy the effect she has on Clark Kent. He acts more mature and 'supermanly' and actually smiles more when he's around her. I don't know what type of character you usually admire, but I would like to think that Lois is the type of character that almost everyone would look up to, IMHO.

yeah i thought lois and clark relationshi[ was going to be explored in vast detail this season, but due to the unwanted return of lana lang for five episodes, the writers have really lost what good have been a great season. not saying that is isn't, but having clark go back to lana was just pathetic. he needs to grow a pair after all he will one day become earths greatest icon, and earths greatest icon would do something this pathetic.
just my two cents.

how strange it is that most people didn't like the return of Lana Lang yet the ratings were better with each show lol! I dont mind but yes I do miss Lois as well... a confrontation and exchange of words between lana and lois would have at least spark some tension would have made a tad more sense... but I guess only one of Clark's infatuations at a time!

I voted 5. I totally miss her.
I know the show is called Smallville, and not L&C: TNOS, but when ever Lois is in the episode, she has the most energy, interaction, dynamic that is so hard to live without in episodes when she's not there. does anyone understand me?? :D
The casting department found gold in ED...

the one and only thing that bugs me about lois is that when around others she acts too much like a guy... acting all tough and superior when in most of the episodes its her ass Clark ends up saving ha ha!

Don't miss Lois, the longer she's gone the better, but I do miss Erica Durance, I like her as an actress ;)
It's so hard for me :(
When she was dating Ollie in S6, I had absolutely no problem with Lois being around. I only have a problem with Lois when she's dating Clark :D

I think I was to busy getting frustrated over how incredibly lame the plot of the episode(and the one before it) were that I didn't miss anybody. I just wish the rest of the cast missed this episode along with Lois.

Erica Durance literally SAVED Smallville from itself. By S3 the concept had run its course and needed a revamp. Brining Lois on was the best bandaid they could apply. And didn't they luck out that Erica was cast? TPB didn't want her though; they had their own creation in the character of Chloe Sullivan; she was their nod to their own cleverness. Don't believe me-go back and watch S10 again and see if you can tell who the main character of Smallville is, I'll give you two clues- Neither Clark or Lois qualify for this title. Want to know what TPB thought of Lois as a character? Watch Scion-Lois to them is a piece of meat and they treated her like one; with bad storylines and character arcs. Do I miss Erica Durance? Damn right I do. She fought for the integrity of Lois against TPB and won on a few occasions. She is a superb actress. You can watch her get better over the course of the series and you don't see that very often. So haters-choke on it. Erica has a new series coming next year and she's producing; so she will get good writing and good stories and all the stuff she never got from Smallville-like respect.

TPB didn't want her though
I think it's more of a case they didn't know what to do with her at times. Once she got green lighted they quickly pounced on the chance to have her on the show. Originally she was supposed to be in 4 episodes and they upped it to 13.
they had their own creation in the character of Chloe Sullivan; she was their nod to their own cleverness.
I think Lana was more the producer's pet then Chloe(at least till season 8). Chloe just felt like a character of convenience to often. Whatever the plot needed they would just shove Chloe into it, but she was always the other person in other peoples plots so as they do stupid things she comes out looking good. The 2 minor storylines she got in S5-7 really didn't make ehr character look great though(Chimmy and Meteor Freak)
