View Full Version : So, Heroes is still confusing...

Just finished "Clear and Present Danger."

And wow. These people change sides as much as they change their minds. I find it terribly unbelievable that Nathan is on the side he is on, even though he's slowly (kinda) been edging towards that side for a few episodes. Now he's some sinister, maniacal, borderline extremist type of character who seems to have some new found hate for his own kind?

Also, I was going to make another thread about another topic but decided that it isn't even worth it. I'll just say it here. These "heroes" aren't much "heroes" when they are easily taken out by a group of masked men with guns. Seriously, who can they really protect if they can't stop a few, powerless people? If they can't even protect themselves, they shouldn't be protecting mankind, JMO. Have they not mastered their powers yet, after this long are they so easily beaten? Sylar had no trouble with the group, that says a lot about the rest of our heroes...

Finally, I'm quite tired of liking one character one season, and then having them turned into a bad guy for the next season. Because that makes it hard to like and root for a character if their role in the story keeps changing. HRG needs to stay a good guy, and Sylar needs to stay a bad guy. I like it best that way. Every time one role changes, the other does as well and it's frustrating to begin to dislike the characters I've grown to like in their respective roles the past season.

That's it for my rant. Overall, the episode was kind of boring. But the ending was poetic and I loved it more than any other scene this season, this includes any single scene in Dual.

I pretty much agree with you, unfocused.

There's still a lot of teeter-tottering on Heroes. I saw them really having fun with the "am I good or evil" theme this season with Claire. Just about everyone I've talked to seems to hate the direction they took with Nathan...more so the way they handled it. I have no problem with a Magneto type of guy who only sees the glass as half full but Nathan wasn't an supposed to be easily influenced. He was just misguided and weak. Now we're supposed to believe he's some hypocritical, irrational, dictator. It's a bit much.

I hope Sylar never truly becomes a good guy after this. And good thing they fast forwarded Mohinder's recovery because there were way too many complaints about the direction he was going (in regard to whatever he's becoming or has become). The saving grace of Heroes is also its curse: Season 2's writer strike forced a lot of people to turn away from the show - rightfully so because it sucked tremendously! But at the same time, now Season 3 struggles to retain its core audience of enthused viewers from the first season.

On a positive note, if it weren't for the final 10 minutes of Claire's exiting unlatching of the Heroes aboard the flight, Clear and Present Danger would not have been worth watching for me. So that's a plus!

I was confused most about Peter's change in power. I really don't care if the writers thought he was too powerful or whatever. That shoudn't be a reason to kill his perfectly good character. All I know is they better fix it.

And I don't know about you guys, but I loved this episode. Maybe it was just because I haven't seen the show in a few months though.

Loved the episode, wish that the first half had as much action as the last 10 minutes though.

I am glad they depowered Peter. He was too powerful, they had to find a way to reset his powers every season. They don't have to do that anymore and now they can work on building his character more.

I personally liked Peter the way he was. I never thought he was too "powerful". If you go back and watch the last chapter, you'll see that he barely used his powers. And how on earth are they going to stop Sylar now? I don't like it, not at all. :(

Barely using his powers is poor writing.

If you had the ability to stop time or throw lightening at someone you would do it all the time. look at Sylar and his fight in this episode. Perfect example.

Telekineses, Lie Detector, Shock all on a whim.

Just because he doesn't use them doesn't make it good, it makes him look like an idiot for being a God and continually getting slapped down. Now he will use the abilities all the time to the best of his ability, instead of randomly forgetting he has the abilities.

Peter's supposed to be the most powerful of all the Heroes though. Plain and simple.
