I think it's about time DC officially numbers Smallville's Earth or dub it an Elseworlds story. Then, we can stop griping about what's canon and what's not. This episode wasn't that bad. It's interesting to note that Saturn Girl from the previous episode said that Lana will have a significant part in history contributing to the world. In an Elseworld, Clark doesn't even have to end up with Lois and fans of this show won't know what to expect...

... maybe Superman never learns to fly.
That's exactly what I said in another thread. He never even becomes Superman in fact.

I figured it was always an Elseworlds story.

It was always considered as being an Ultimate Superman, even Geoff Johns said it.

After watching this show for 8 years and taking a close look at exactly what has taken place and what characters are important, it's hard to argue against the idea that Smallville is an elseworld.

Its not about canon. In season 8, TPTB were taking the show along a different line then they were in the last 7 years then all of a sudden they just pulled 5 episodes out of nowhere that don't match what they were doing in the first half of the season. Its disconcerting and confusing and not at all what they promised they were going to do from the beginning. Its like they went back to season 7 with the Lana5 to complete that season since it was shortened by the strike. If they were going to do this type of thing, they should have started from the beginning of the season 8. I think people would have accepted it more, even though the shows ratings might not have been as high as they turned out to be without the Lana character.

Actually Lane going on a quest to get powers in order to be "be with Clark" is canon.
It happened like a gazillion times in "Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane"

You mean, Lana?
I don't think the "Lois Lane, Superman's Girlfriend" comics were ever canon. Those were just hilariously awful.
I think with comics, it's hard to judge 'canon' since there are rewrites and reboots, and inconsistencies, etc, etc.
The problem for a lot of us is not them messing with canonical events and timelines, but in messing with the fundamentals of the character and what he's supposed to stand for.
But why the heck not? Maybe it's an elseworlds were Lana becomes SuperWoman and Clark just remains her love interest. Sounds about right. :D

No. We want Clark iwth Lois. We want him to fly. We want him in his suite. And Legion prooved that that will happen.

This ceartnily doesn't feel like the superman I grew up with. I'm fine with this bein an AU cuz there's no other way to explain clark being so whipped.
