i prefer clark. um... he isn't superman yet and these trials and choices he makes now are what make him superman.

One of superman's endearing qualities is the idea of trying to save every life. Kal-El does not have that (or at least didn't in season 4). If we had Kal-El then Chloe would be dead in the Legion episode.

Yes, Clark still makes choices that aren't the wisest but he's still moving linearly in the right direction. He has started saving more lives, has already started to deal with world threatening events, and is now proud to do these things. His love life may be questionable but we already know how that one is going to end so yeah :)

Superman is the costume Clark wears. Kal-el is the name of the man he would have been if he stayed on Krypton. I would much rather Clark worked through his own issues, including getting past the ones from High School, than I would have someone else.
