So I've seen the anger over the lana arc, but putting aside the whole clana relationship, or clois relationship, what does everybody think about how the PS3 has handled the Lex arc? Do you think it is so far so good? Although they don't have Micahel Rosenbaum portraying Lex, do you think that the story of Lex still being evil and such just in secret fits him?

I actually like the mystery surrounding Lex.
When Lex is totally recovered, I would like to see something similar (assuming there is a season 9 and MR won't come back). Camera-shots from behind, never getting a full shot of Lex, hearing the voice only (think something like Charlie from Charlie's Angels). That would be great.

Next week looks awesome in the preview.
He's semi-Darth Vader with the voice mask on. Although I would have preferred MR to have made a voice appearance at least, it's still pretty cool to hear him talk in this new voice. It's how I envision Lex. No offense MR, you do an excellent job, but your voice doesn't fit the bill, it's a bit too high. :D This voice gives off a more sinister/evil side to Lex.
This is how I picture Lex physically, both in voice and size.

I have to say yes. Granted MR was brilliant as Lex but a character that big just can't disappear completely. I like that he's secretly running things and still involved. Even though he's not onscreen, his presence can be felt. I like the way it's being handled.

You mean his body double's story? Not so much. They are between a rock and a hard place though. They can't just kill him off, because he is a canon character. But, he can't just go his separate way either. There is too much recent history between him and Clark for Lex to just move on the greener pastures.

I'll quit Smallville forever if they bring him back with a different actor

I'm sorry, I thought Lex left this show last season.
Whoever this guy that everyone keeps referring to as Lex is a cheap imitation. He may be bald, but "horrible disfiguration" and "shots from the back of the head" does not a Lex Luthor make.

And so far, though he's closer to a Darth Vader imitation visually, hits the right notes to make him a worthy Lex Luthor

You forgot to add in a "Hell Yeah" option, but I voted yes.:)

I like the fact that they at the start of the season they kept everyone guessing what had happened to Lex and are now showing more but it feels disappointing to have him back in this form rather than MB portraying the character.
I just pray MB will come back maybe for just one episode so we can see Lex back to normal ready to be the character from the comic books. However, I think there has to be an explanation (MB or not) as to why and how Lex and Clark are now enemies especially as Season 7 ended with Lex saying he loves Clark like a brother! Thats the one problem I have with Smallville, they've never made Clark and Lex enemies more like bad friends (all over that damn Lana)

I don't think it was necessary. They could have used another villain.

I have heard many people refer to MR as the best Lex Luthor ever and quite frankly i can't argue. That being said,PS3 had their backs against the wall so they had to think something unique to have Lex a part of the show.So in that respect they are doing all they could. Some might say that out of respect for MR they shouldn't have had anyone else portraying him even if it's only a shot of his back.I don't know about that.Personally i would have liked it if we saw an episode for Lex like the one we saw for Lana yesterday showing all the trials he went through after the FOS collapsed.Of course they would need a little thing for that:MR's signature!

Since there is at most another season (if that) and Lex would probably have been terribly injured at the end of last season, I see no need to bring another actor in to portray him. It wouldn't mean Lex was dead, or that he wouldn't one day again be part of Clark's life, but it doesn't need to be now. There are lots of other villains that could come into the story.

I'm very pleased with the way Lex has been incorporated into the show. Even though he isn't present on screen. There remains intrigue and complexity to his actions.

No. I just want Lex back if he is played by MR

I htink it's great. I think not having MR around is forcing the writers to be more creative.

No.
Gosh no.
I'm sorry but. Its MR or no Lex at all.
There is no way they can expect me to accept another actor as MR when we had him for 7 years. Fair enough there are other actors who have played Lex; but MR is SV's Lex Luthor. Thats how it has been made and WILL REMAIN.
I've breifly seen the Requiem trailer and i'm not happy.

To be fair in the Requiem trailer his face is more or less covered up. What we can see of him can be interpreted as MR (even though it isn't). It's a pretty good double. I don't see the problem really.

ITA. I actually find this "omnipresent" dark, shadowy Lex much more evil and threatening than the whimpering, hurt Lex we had before. And I don't care who plays him, the character is Lex Luther. The character is not MR.

IMO this is the worst arc I've ever seen on this show. Thankfully, it will all be over Thursday night, and the show will get back on track.
