That is what I was wondering if they planned that all along! I know I was happy about the explanation and knew it would finally answer all those dumb questions.

I don't think they planned it that way though because it was re-shot.

I don't think they planned it that way though because it was re-shot.

I also don't think they planned it either since Lana wasn't shaking the way that she was in Arctic. I think that they had it partially planned out since they expected Kristin Kreuk to return this season, but they just had to find out how to execute it properly.

Not at all! But I must say my opinion of her rose greatly when I realized that she hadn't done such an... overdramatic thing? The video seemed a bit wrapped up in it's own importance, imo, and I'm rather glad that it wasn't actually her.

Didn't expect it at all, fixes the dumb plot hole, but by doing this they technically never broke up...and once Lois knows it will leave a big whole in her heart. Poor Lois.

Nope, I didn't see that coming, but I'm sure glad to know that's why she did it. You know it never made sense that she could get a camcorder, DVD and DVD burner and do all of that within the span of 5 minutes.

That was the part of the episode I liked. It filled in the 'how did she get a camera?' plot hole.

No, but as always they had to make Lana look good so they came up with this excuse. Whenever Lana's actions make her look bad the writer's have to backtrack and do something to make her appear good and make it not seem like she is not accountable. It's never her fault. In the Season 4 DVD set they even deleted a scene from one of the episodes, I think it is 'Blank', just because it makes Lana look bad. It was a good scene too because it was also one of the only times you see Clark finally telling her off. Boy, these writer's sure do have a fetish for Lana. And at the cost of Clark the main character.

No, no this is not Lana bashing or whatever so please if all you're gonna do is bash Lana or phrase Lana please don't post I don't want to create a flaming thread. I just needed to make this one because I don't know where to actually post it nor see where it belongs. I'm starting this because it's been actually bugging me and I don't see the answer to it.

Ok, carry on.
So we saw that Lana made that horrid video tape to break up with Clark, yes? But here in 'Power' we actually found out that she didn't really mean to leave the way she did because she's been forced to.

Now, the thing that's bugging me is this, so would this mean that:
1.) She didn't want to break up with Clark in the first place? or;
2.) She did mean to break up with Clark but not in video tape and hoping that she could do it in person instead?

So, if scenario 1 is the answer then why is it that in 'Bride' she was talking about how 'She and Clark are just not meant to be together'. She wasn't held at gunpoint then so she could have told the truth right there and then. I think she also said the same thing in 'Bulletproof'. Why say all those things she said if all she ever wanted was to be with Clark.

If scenario 2 is the case, then why go through all the training that she's done in order to be with Clark if she wanted to break-up in the first place. There was no sign in 'Power' to show that she wanted to rehash their relationship not until in the last scene. We've only been shown that she was only after the Lex suit and with her communication with Chloe she didn't want her to tell Clark that she was there.

So thoughts?

No, I didn't expect it. But when I realized she was forced to it I was 'oh, no, not again'. Lionel forced her to marry lex on threat of killing Clark (promise); Lionel forced her to stay married to Lex to save clark (nemesis) and now Lex forces to make this tale to protect her from Clark. Honestly, I would have preferred that the video was her idea, that she would say 'Clark, I had to leave like that because I didn't have the strength to say good-bye to your face', like she did when she ran to Paris in S3, when she bought the ticket before telling Clark so he wouldn't be able to stop her. But no, she had to be Lana the victim, Lana the martyr, lana sacrificing herself for a greater cause.

That bothered me as much as her not calling Clark once she was free from Lex's captors. It's the second time she dissappears without word, leaving him to think the worst. Sending a line to tell him she was OK is not a weakness, it wouldn't jeopardize her undercover operations, is just consideration.

I didn't expect this but It didn't shock me either. Although I don't understand why did Tess and the thugs kidnapp her? experiment on her or what?
