am i the only one who thinks this is a horrible idea, and are very disappointed this is the route they are taking Lana. i mean c'mon we have been down this road before, and it didn't end well with kryptonite or not - lame idea. am i alone on this opinion that its bad, or is it good?

Man, they keep putting this woman on such an INSANE pedestal it's ridiculous. I really hope she DOES die next time. She IS a distraction, she DOES hold Clark back just by EXISTING in a SV screen. And on top of all that, WTH is the relationship between Clark and Lois, leftovers? Season 8 seemed to have.....debacle as soon as the woman's arrival. I can't wait until she's gone.

Seriously what kind of Potion KK use to influence the writers. It's pathetic how they drag the idea.
^ She doesn't have to influence them, they love putting Lana in that position. This episode was okay, because of Tess and Todd Slavakin and Dareen Swimmer's crazy plot twists!!

wow how can they give her powers!!
has anyone remembers how she acted the fisrt time she had supernatural powers!?
And how she used the Kryptonian powers when this were transfered to her?
OMG she is such a power hunger woman!
I can't believe the way they destroyed Lana!
She was fine as the highschool sweetheart, she would have been fine being that but now this has gone insane, powers! She has never been an important part of Superman or Clark's life!
PS3 is making horrible decision, i don't know how can they fix this, this Supes is a whiny kid and ... OMG.
I can't even keep going... This ep killed my brain...

It is horrible. Again, they have no idea what to do with Lana as a character. They keep bringing her and giving her these awful storylines (even when she's only in for 4 episodes). Fakebaby! Luthor's "I love you, Lex!" wife, witch and now SuperLana! It's plain ridiculous.

technically its the suit that makes the abilities possible. she doesnt actually have powers, the suit does. My guess is that the kryptonite is going to destroy the suit because its kryptonian based... or something to that effect. Doesn't really matter I think the next episode it Lana's last isnt it? God she looks good with short hair!! lol
oh and THIS supes... is not supes yet... its just clark kent. do people not get that yet after 7 1/2 seasons?

I dont know what pisses me off more, the fact that the writers have forgotten that Lana has had powers before or the fact that Clark has forgotten that Lana has had powers before and it didnt go well. What does she spontaneously give guys lobotomy's everytime she enters a room now?

I always come back to the same point with Lana....if she's just so amazing and awesome, why do they always have to find new ways to make her MORE awesome? For instance, wouldn't a Lana that just wanted to help the world be enough?

I'm not wanting to defend this episode, but Clark did mention that Lana has super powers earlier and that it didn't end well.
Still, this was far and away the worst episode of the season and easily one of my 10 most hated episodes of the series. The show had some awful episodes in seasons 5 to 7. I thought things had turned around until Lana came back this season. They need to let her and Lex go and expand to new storylines and not reuse ones that have been beaten to death.

There's no logic whatsoever. If she's redeemed after playing with the devil (aka marrying Lex and carrying his fake baby), isn't it enough to let her have he rIsis Foundation, and help humanity as regular people do? Why go the extra mile and make her extra awesome if she already is awesome? It's either just never enough for TPTB or her character lacks so much that they have to resort to this sort of things.

It seemed almost downright ridiculous to me. I felt like they were shoving "Super Ninja Lana" down our throats. I've LIKED Lana a lot more this season, but I DON'T understand why they chose to take her in this direction. It's certainly not what I was predicting would happen when they originally brought her back, and I'm rather disappointed that they're rehashing an already-used plotline. Besides, it'll be as useless as Chloe losing her memory, since we know Lana's powers can't last past next week's episode. In other words, what's the point?
--SGuthrie ><>' :)--
This really irritates me! Then to add to this Tess saying "Lana was born to be a martyr" come on, this is just too ridiculous!

But... I liked the twist that Lana orchestrated the whole "kidnapping" because she wanted the POWER!

I was surprisingly unirritated by Lana in the beginning of this episode. I'm left with all this feeling rather confused.
a) How on earth are they going to end this newly redone Clana saving-the-world-together relationship in the one episode KK has left? How on earth are they going to bring good closure this way? Also Lois? Man.
b) I get that this show doesn't follow canon, and generally I'm pretty okay with that, but Lana Lang with what appear to be permanent superpowers? What? Also, I can't help feeling that she just doesn't have the right mindset for this and/or that her motivations aren't quite as altruistic as she claims. I guess we'll have to see, but I'm dubious about Lana living up to her own expectations.

it's bad, because the last time she had kryptonian powers, she abused it in trying to kill lex. What's stopping her from going after him now...besides clark? Does she have all of clarks powers...as far as i know she only has superspeed...?

My guess is Lana gets irradiated by that Green K bomb from the preview and it prevents her and Clark from being close to each other otherwise it will kill Clark.
So essentially, she does the heroic thing and saves the day and sacrifices any hope she had for her dream of being with Clark to save him.
And regarding Lois. I think that should be put on the back burner. Clark should have some time to deal with things. I think they should just be friends for now and maybe in Season 9 they can try. For now, it would be better if they set things up more. Clark would look like a jerk and a cad if he made a play for Lois right after Lana leaves.

Well in the comics she did have powers. She was like the Bumblebee Queen or Insect Queen or something weird. In SV, I suspect she does have better motives then she did in "Wrath", her lecture to Tess shows she's moved past mere revenge against Lex. At least I hope so. But I don't think she'll have a happy ending.

it sucks this had to be Allison Mack's first episode in the director chair. the episode was shot beautifully with some new angles and effects; however, the material sucks especially with Lana become as someone said before Supergirl 2.0 ... all around bad. Kristen and Michael left the series so for the writers to play a swan song for them is wrong in my opinion. should have let Lana leave and not come back, but anyone else think about this from LEGION ... Imra said Lana is the reason Clark becomes the hero they live up to, i have this feeling Lana sacrifices her life to save the world and so that makes Clark own up ... take flight? all around i wish they had Lois more involved the Lana-centric episodes but oh well ... bring back the good episodes!

I am probably one of the biggest Clana/Lana/Kristin Kruek/Smallville fan ever but this episode disappointed me. I mean seriously, who is writing this stuff. Boring! Been there, done this... I have been a fan of this site as well for years but all of a sudden felt compelled to register and start discussing.
I never thought I would say this, but I will be glad when Lana's episodes are over. And have yall noticed that their conversations are almost exactly the same since she got back, fight the good fight, help people, I'm a distraction..blah blah blah blah blah blah

I think smallville has enogh superheroes...
we have olli,
the justice league,
an ocassional meteor freak
and ofcourse Clark.
Now super Lana?....
I think the point of Smallville is about Clarks superpowers, not Lanas...
I'm a little bit of a Lana hater...not much because I want Clois...
Still this episode has been interesting

I don't think Lana having superpowers is a good idea in the slightest. But I don't think saying "been there done that" is a fair comment.
Seen Red K Clark before back in Season 2. Been there. Done that. Does that mean you think all other Red K episodes were a bad idea and we don't want anymore?
Now I know what you're going to say. "But the subsequent Red K episodes have developed off the original, not just rehashing the same stuff." Well neither is this. Power had Lana saying, "Look, I messed up with the powers last time. I've matured, trained and now I can handle them." Plus she got them in a totally different (albeit stupid) way this time where as in Wrath they recycled the lightning-kryptonite combo. Now to that you could say been there done that.
So. Lana 'permanently' with superpowers. No, probably best idea. But not cos they've done it before. Smallville recycles a bunch of stuff and some of it works over and over.

Funny enough, its not all that strange. Lex did create a suit with super powers to keep him alive. So why not stretch it into a small Lana episode or two. Any fan knows that Lana is a strong character in Clarks life and in the comics. Lets face it, It's NOT always about Lois and Clark. What about his parents? Jimmy and the whole other few in Clark/Superman's life they have all be a part! Your all just mad because you want to see another "Lois and Clark" tv show. (ewww) I would say many of you also liked "Superman Return's"? Shame!

There's nothing wrong with Lana and power, they have one last fling, she loses them, and leave's the show. It's pretty simple. They will NOT kill her! And she will not go nuts with power. Shes the Lana from the comics now.

I agree with this thread completly. Not only was that part overdone but so was pretty much everything else. 1Clark and Chloe's discussion that happens like EVERY season that goes a little something like this:
Clark: Chloe how could you keep this secret about Lana from me
Chloe: She asked me not to tell you, I'm her friend too...
blah blah blah.
Seriously, are they just rewording old scripts

WHY?
the writers are building the superman skills in clark ,and Lana is back ,to help him become superman, as Saturn girl SAID SO
SO, why do you hate the eposide?
because you don't think she's redeemed herself, despite her good actions once getting her power, you hate lana because of previous arcs, and you think the writers don't want to move forward?
well, then ,you need to realize they KNWO what they're doing
supergirl 2.0? SHE HAD POWERS IN THE COMICS
so, nothing's wrong with this...
CLark's STILL becoming superman,
He STILL is in love with Lois, for SURE, after maxima confirmed it..
Lana with powers ...this is her chance for redemption..
don't be so harsh, when a master plan is beign created

I'm sorry but no suit in any universe by human technology in any such fiction should make someone as strong as Superman...it totally devaluates the idea of such great power
Iowa_Gent
01-31-2009, 07:09 AM
What I am trying to figure if Lex invented a suit to give him super powers and stay alive and now Lana has it on. What is to stop Lex from making another suit? It was a dumb idea for a show. They needed Lana to come back then have her and Clark find out it is over. In the show "Abyss" Jor-El said Clark had grown up a lot but now they have him going back to how he was.

What is intereting is that she learned from the time when she had Clarks powers.. She wasnt ready and it showed. She then prepared herself by going to this trainer dude. Lana has grown and I will give her credit! But please, i beg you...please end it with the Clana! I dont know how much more I can take!!!!! (One more episode! I can do it! This is tougher than going without spoilers for a month!)

I have another idea to throw in. Lana now becomes Wonder Woman. She has been trying to get Clark to come around for years. She is as strong as Superman. If they can rewrite dogma for Superman why not WW too?

I was kind of torn. While it was nice to see Lana trying to find power, to get strength and become Clark's equal (and not just be his 'damsel in distress' anymore) it was also annoying to have so much of the focus on her.
I do like that she thinks that she has to be as powerful as Clark so he doesn't have to protect her anymore. That was a nice bit.
But her powers coming from a suit?
Also, when she was all "now we can be together" I was thinking "but that's not what Clark needs. If it was he'd be with Wonder Woman, not Lois. He needs an ordinary human woman to bond with his 'humanity' and keep him human and sane. He's got 'superfriends'."
So I'm kinda torn (did I mention that?).
