OK, we all know there's no way Smallville will actually make it 17 seasons. But if it did, what would the show look like? Who'd still be on it? What would the major storylines be? Have fun with it! I'll fire the first shot.
By this time, the show has completely transformed into "Metropolis". It's only "Smallville" in name only. References to (or appearances in) Smallville happen maybe only once a season. Martha's political career has run its course and she's returned to the farm as the elderly, loving woman we all know from the comics. She spends her days doing very wholesome activities like baking apple pies. She's finally been able to move on from Johnathan (and to a lesser extent, Lionel) and has started seeing Ben Hubbard, who owns the neighboring farm. With Johnathan gone, Ben has taken over the heavy lifting on the Kent farm and for all practical purposes, the two farms now operate as one big one.
In Metropolis...
-Clark and Lois are now seasoned veterans. Lois is a word-famous, award-winning journalist and the "go to" person for all things Superman in the media. Clark is busy juggling his superhero life with his professional life, being careful not to draw too much attention to himself as a reporter for fear of scrutiny of his secret identity. He's content to let Lois have the spotlight.
-Sadly, Chloe has died. She died as she lived. Protecting Clark and his secret. When a meteor freak, armed with the knowledge of Clark's abilities threatens to kill him with Kryptonite and expose him to the world, Chloe rescues Clark one last time from the green stuff but is killed by the villain in the process.
-Lana is rarely heard from on the show but makes cameo appearances from time-to-time. She has entered the business world now and has become romantically linked to Pete Ross, who has entered the world of politics just as Martha was leaving it.
-Jimmy is still working at the Daily Planet but has failed to gain the respect he craves. He's still a full-time photographer and a part-time "cub" reporter. Professionally, he is more respected as a photographer than a reporter (which he is resentful for). His new boss, Perry White doesn't seem willing to give him a real chance at his dream.
-Lex Luthor has resurfaced in Metropolis and is as diabolical as ever. If he still knows Clark's secret, he hasn't let on. It is something that troubles Clark every day. Does he know or doesn't he? How much does he really remember? Will he (at any momement) expose my secret to the world?
Feel free to add on or give your own interpretation.
