One would think that Clark had faced more challenges and daunting task than the one that he was walking into righ now. The truth, however was that this felt like the toughest thing that he might ever have to do. He would have to look into the eyes of the girl he loved, during her darkest hour and face the fact that she was here, because of him. No matter what his mother or Chole wanted to tell him. He knew.
She stared lovingly at the picture of her parents that stood on the desk next to her bed. Trying to capture the good time that the picture in hand was potraying as she smiled. The creek of the floor board knocked her out of the trance she was in and her eyes connected with Clark.
“Never thought I'd tell you how happy I was to see the color back in your face.” Clark weakly joked, his voice lacking that usual strength.
Lana looked back at him, wondering why he was even here, even though in her heart she knew why. Except her reason was different than the real reason that her heart wanted to block out and never remember again. “Yeah, I never thought I would be happy to hear that.” Lana said, then paused a second before explaining her actions. “I'm sorry what happened to you. I never wanted to hurt anybody.” Clark nodded at her words, uncaring about anything that he had to go through.
“Except yourself.” Clark muttered, turning his head away slightly at the words. He hated the thought of everything that happened, especially the one of Lana hurting himself. Not his Lana, not because of him. This is what he had driven her to do.
“No, not even myself.”
“Then why did you do it?” Clark's mind turned away from his previous thoughts, wanting to hear what could possible drive Lana to do this.
“For as long as I can remember I've felt alone. When I was with Nell, Whitney, Jason and even these past months when I was with you.” Clark's heart stopped when he heard those words as a new kind of pain spread through his body. It was something made kryponite look like a tap on the shoulder, but he listened as Lana continued. “I just wanted to fell their arms around me again and the warmth of their love.” Lana held her hands close to her body to express her words.
“Did you?”
“For a second, but that's going to have to be enough for now. I can't allow myself to be dependent on others anymore and I won't.” Clark wished that to be case more than anything.
“I hope that you don't.” Clark replied as he locked eyes with Lana. The pain in each an exact image of the others as they tried to figure out where to go from here. Clark nooded once more and turned around toward the door, before stopping. He turned back to Lana. “Lana......” He whispered, trying to collect his words. “If I could go back in time, to the meteor shower and trade my life for your parents, I would. I wish could do that more than anything in the world.” Clark opened his heart, letting out something that he had told himself ever since he found out the truth.
Lana stood there in disbelief, her mind going in twenty different directions. That barrier she had just placed in front of her heart, just to stop him from ever hurting her again lifted, just for a second. She didn't know how to respond or even if she could. Clark turned around to leave again. “Why?” Lana called out, her emotions starting to rise inside of her. Clark stopped again and once again turned back to her. “Why would you say that?” Lana needed to know.
“Because all I want is for to be happy.” Clark replied, his emotions starting to get the better of him as well.
Lana shook her head, then lowered it, placing her hands over her face. Trying as hard as she could to rid herself of these emotions and unable to reply to her. “No you don't.” Lana responded, a tear running down her face as Clark looked back in surprise at her statement.
“I know it may not seem that way, because of what's happened between us, but I do. I just know that I can never be the one to do that, just believe that you being happy is what I want.” Clark pleaded in a begging tone, trying to convince her.
“You can't say that to someone you don't love.” Lana challenged his words, fighting back more tears from falling as she tried to be strong.
“I just.........” Clark stopped, searching for a way to explain himself. “Why can't you understand that we can't be together? If you just understood that my life is a certain way and you can't be in it. I'm the one who's suppose to be lonely and alone, not you. This is my life. Why do you keep fighting that?” Clark almost shouted, unable to find the strength to do so, his words cracking.
“Why don't you fight it?” Lana whispered, finding see through the barrier that Clark had held up his entire life. Not caring about what it all might mean.
Clark stopped, trying to find the words to answer that question and then finding his voice. “Because every time I do bad things happen to the people I love. My dad is dead, Pete is gone and now.......” Clark couldn't finish at the thought of what happened to her.
“And there pain was all your fault, right? Just like the pain I've been going through.” Lana paused, choosing to say something different than the normal 'it isn't your fault Clark' line. “I wonder if the pain they went through was worse than the most important person in the world telling them that he didn't love her anymore.” Lana questioned and putting her hand before Clark could speak. “And worse of all knowing that it was just another lie, but trying desperately to figure out why he would say that. Why he would say something that a knife or a gun could never come close to causing the same amount of pain.” The tears now freely flowing her cheeks.
“Because he knew that would stop her from loving him anymore.” Clark answered.
“So he would break her heart, hurt himself and think that in a world where the girl he loves would hate him could be a better place. So that the girl would lose someone who in the end could mean more to her than even her parents. Is that what you wanted Clark? Before you say that word a hate so much, let me say it for you. What are you protecting me from? And nothing could make me not love you anymore, after five years you think you would know that already.” Lana asked in a urgent way.
“I don't know.........I wish I had an answer for anything. All I've ever known and seen is what happens to the people around me. I wish that anyone, even those who know me the best could understand the world I live in.” Clark confessed.
“The strongest I've ever been is with you and if I have to face pain, then please let it be with you. I would take as much pain in the world to go through summer again and to have that back.” Lana extended her hands. “Please, just this once, give in for us and not into whatever secrets you have.” Lana's head bended slightly as Clark stood there his eyes looking for an answer.
“For us.” Clark said softly, before slowly taking Lana into his arms. He leaned his head on Lana's. “I don't want this void anymore.” He whispered into her ears as they held each other.

Time was running out. He had to find Lex now, before he could hurt anyone or worse, before Fine could take control of him. “LEX” Clark shouted as he rushed into the mansion. “LEX!” He shouted once again.
“He isn't here.” Lana stated stoically as she walked into the room. Clark didn't seem to notice the frame of mind that Lana was in, his only concern was finding the truth.
“Lana, I need to find Lex, before something bad happens. Do you know where he is?” Clark questioned hoping she would open up to him.
“No, I don't know where he is.” She paused and stood unforgivably into his eyes. “And even if I did, I'm not sure I would tell you.” Clark looked curiously at her, wondering what could have happened for her to have said to him. Even after everything that had happened, they were still friends and she could still trust him.
“Lana, you can trust me.” Clark quickly replied, hoping that she would understand.
“Can I?” Lana asked. “You know, Lex told me all about his new powers and the sad thing is, it only took him a couple of hours. He wanted me to know the truth about him and I accept that part of him.” Lana said as Clark thought to himself, knowing that she was capable of that, because she did it for him.. He was just wishing that her words were about his secret and not Lex's. “What have you ever trusted me with?” Lana wanted to know.
“Lana, this is about helping Lex. I'm not trying to get you away from him. Lex needs help and it isn't safe to be around him right now.” Clark tried to convince her.
“You would know about, wouldn't you Clark?” Lana paused to remember what she heard from Clark and Chloe in their dorm room that day. “It was you and Chloe who said that Lex needed to be killed, isn't it?” Lana said with a firm tone. “Don't try to deny it either, I was there. You can't lie your way out of it.” Lana warned him.
“You don't know what you saw or heard Lana. It's not like that. I'm not going to kill Lex. Despite what was happened between us. I still care.” Clark honestly told her.
“Is that right? I can tell from the way you've turned your back on him. He was your friend Clark and he cared about you.” Lana tried to tell him.
“I'm not going to talk about my and Lex's friendship. There's a lot you don't know and this isn't the time to be doing this. Believe it or not, I'm here to help Lex and you.” Clark wanted her to understand.
“You keep saying there's a lot I don't know and whose fault is that? I told you that Lex trusted me and in all the time I've known you, you've never done the same.” Lana snapped back.
“Please, just let me help.” Clark ignored her words, trying to focus on the task at hand.
“If you want to help, then tell me what's going on. Tell me how you knew what was going to happen with Lex. Tell me what you know now.” Lana asked firmly, not backing down one bit. Not this time, she was going to make him tell her the truth. Too many times he did this to her, but not today.
“I can't tell you everything, but I need you to let me help.” Clark once again sidestepped Lana's questions.
Lana picked up her jacket from Lex's desk. “You've never trusted me.” Lana stopped a second. “I don't know how I ever could have loved you.” Lana said before she walked out. Clark stood there, unable to move, her words ringing through his head. He didn't know what to do. It felt like his entire world had just come crashing down on him. Then something happened, like a click in his head. How could he let this happen? The world is on the line and he's going to let the girl he loves go out hating him. Worse of all, thinking that he didn't trust her. No, he couldn't, not this time. A sense of determination came across his face and a gust of wind went through the room.
“It was never about trust.” The words hit Lana as she walked angrily through the halls of the mansion. She stopped and turn around to see Clark standing there.
“I don't believe that.” Lana replied, not even bothering to think about how Clark caught up to her without her hearing a thing.
“I wouldn't expect you to, after everything that has happened this year. The truth, the real truth is that I would trust you with my family, my secret and most of all, my secret. It was never about trust and it still isn't. Not with you” Clark opened up to her as she tried to take in what was said.
“Then what was it and what is it about?” Lana needed to know.
“Safety.” Clark simply replied.
“Not tell me that Clark, don't tell me you're just trying to protect me. I've never been more hurt and scared than I am right now. I don't know how you could ever think this way is some how better than telling me the truth. At least then I'll know.” Lana explained her feelings and Clark nodded in thought.
“I knew what was happening with Lex, because........” Clark closed his eyes, imagining how this moment would have gone so many times before. “I'm Kal-el..” Clark said it, almost like a deep breath.
Lana looked at him atunned. All the anger at him seemingly disappeared as the words escaped his mouth. She didn't know what to say or what to feel. Her Clark was this Kal-el guy, the one those aliens were looking for. He also must have been in the ship that came down during the first meteor shower. Everything was starting to make sense.
“I wish you would say something.” Clark meekly bluttered out as Lana snapped out of her thoughts to look up at him.
She walked toward him, her eyes completely free of the previous anger, now filled with emotion. “You're an alien? You just look..........like Clark Kent to me.” Lana said, standing right in front of him, her eyes never leaving his.
“When you talked a ship coming down to earth in the meteor shower and them living here with us, you had no idea how ironic that statement was.” Clark tried to smile at his joke, tense at the situation. “I never wanted to have to tell you like this.” Clark admitted.
“Did you ever really want to tell me?” Lana wanted to know.
“Ever second.” Clark responded without hesitation and Lana nodded, knowing through his eyes that it was the truth. “I was just so afraid, of everything and every time where I thought I could, something would happen. You have no idea how much this weighed on me.” Clark confessed and Lana slowly nodded.
“Just tell me why today, why right now. I know I was pushing you, but that's no different than all the other times we've been through this.” She just needed that question answered for her.
“Because I don't know what's going to happen. I don't know if I can save the world or even Smallville and I couldn't let those be the last words between us.” Clark stopped for a second and whispered. “You mean everything to me.” At those words, Lana lifted his chin so he could see the love in her eyes.
“I understand, there's just one more thing.” Clark looked some what curiously at her. “Tell me that you love me.” Lana requested and Clark smiled warmly.
“I've loved you since the very first time I saw you and I'll love you with all my heart until the day I die.” Clark said, finishing the last word right upon Lana's lips as she kissed him.
They finally broke apart, leaning their head on each others. “Now go save the world, my Kal-el.” Clark gave her one last what about you look. “I'll be fine, remember, you trust me. Just fine a way back to me.” Lana gave in to her own worries at Clark.
“Nothing on God's green earth could stop me from coming back to you.” Their eyes locked once more, before Clark super speeded away.

Rage
She didn't want to believe it. This couldn't have happened, not to her, not right now. Why did this have to happen? That was the question that kept going through her mind. She did decide to be with Lex, but a child with him? This is not the way she wanted things to be. Too much had happened in her life and she barely had control of herself. Then there was something else.......
Clark needed to talk to Lex now. He stormed into the mansion, but was quickly halted at the sight of Lana. He also noticed the state she seemed to be in. “I'm sorry.” He apologized, for bursting in and possibly startling her, before he composed himself. “I'm looking for Lex.” His tone lower in asking, while at the same time no longer caring as much as he originally did.
“He left a little while ago.” Lana said, while taking a breath and not remotely turning to Clark.
“Are you ok?” Clark wanted to know, his feelings for Lana overshadowing anything else at this point. Lana return her hand to her mouth, biting her fingernails.
“Fine.” She muttered.
“I know that it's not of my business, but I know you're not fine. You never bite your fingernails unless something is wrong. What is it?” Clark knelt beside her.
“It's nothing, really.” Lana paused for a second. “I don't know where Lex is right now Clark, but he isn't here.” Lana truthfully told in an attempt to get Clark to leave.
“It doesn't look like nothing.” Clark eyes soften, hoping to make a small crack in Lana's emotional armor. “You can talk to me, it's ok.” Clark pleaded with her.
Lana nodded in a slow motion, before turning to Clark. “Do you ever wish that you could go back in time and everything would be ok.” Lana simply question.
This question took Clark off guard, but it still didn't take long for him to have an answer. “Every second.” Lana seemed taken by his reply, but still in thought. “But even if you could go back in time, that doesn't guarantee that everything would be ok. It might make things worse than ever before and that's not something you would want to live with it.” Clark explained and now Lana was caught off guard.
“Sounds like you have experience.” Lana noticed and Clark shook his head.
“This isn't about me. I know that something happened to you,, just tell me.” Clark placed his hand over Lana's and she pull away without hesitation.
“Nothing happened.” Lana answered, yet again.
“It was Lex, wasn't it? He did something to you and you don't know what to do. Listen, I'm here and I can help you.” Clark tried to presaude her.
“Lex didn 't do anything to me and I don't want your help. I've never asked for your help and i'm sure as hell not going to do it today.” Lana said, the anger inside rising, mostly about her.
“Lana, please.........” Clark tried to speak.
“No, Clark just leave.” Lana said in a weaker and more begging voice. “Please just leave, if you ever cared before.” Lana hoped he would listen and Clark got up. He walked toward the door and stopped before the doors. What could he do? She obviously didn't want to talk to him and how could he blame her. After everything, he should be the one she's talking to, instead it will be Lex or Chloe. He should just let her be alone. Except he couldn't.
“Lana........” Clark called out and walked toward her once again. “You were right about me having experience when it comes to turning back time.” He confessed and Lana just shook her head.
“What are you talking about Clark?” Lana replied, thinking this was just one of those Clark Kent moments, where he almost tells the truth.
“I said I turned back time once. It was about a year ago. So many things happened that day.” Clark became lost in his words as Lana's attention was re-focused.
“What day? How?” Lana needed to know as the thought of having a child was now pushed back into her head. Clark tried to regain his thought.
“My Dad's election day and through my other dad's fortress.” Clark talked as if those were small things. “It's probably a good idea to ignore the latter part for now and focus on that particular day.
“Ok, just tell me.” Lana looked up at him, her eyes struck with confusion.
Clark collected his thoughts, not knowing how to explain, because unlike the truth about himself, he just wanted to bury this secret forever in time. “The first time you came to the loft that day, the real day that happened or didn't happen, we didn't get into argument. I didn't lie about what my plans were that day or try to make up any other excuse.” Clark's mind wondered away from explaining and into the moment itself. “I didn't even hear you coming up the loft stairs. I was in a trance as I tossed the piece of coal in my hand. Then I saw you and my heart began to race. Right away, you noticed that and you knew that something big was going on. You were right.” Clark eyes wandered slightly.
“What happened? What did we do?” Lana's eyes became more intense, trying in her mind to desperately piece together this memory, like it wasn't erased.
“We went to the caves and I showed you everything about me.” Clark smiled at the thought of their visit. How Lana looked around in wonder at everything and then most of all, how she trusted him. “I asked you to trust me and you did without thinking twice. We went to this place I mentioned before and I held you in my arms as you looked around in disbelief. Finally, I told you the truth about me and........” Clark loss himself at the last part.
“And what Clark?”
“I asked you to marry me.” Clark didn't know whether to smile or not as he tried to gauge Lana's first reaction, but that didn't prove possible as she didn't know how to react.
“Sounds like I missed a big day.......” Lana gulped, only able to squeak out a small joke. She looked at Clark momentarily, as if waiting for something. “So what did I say?” Lana questioned, although in heart knowing the exact answer she would have always given to Clark if he was willing to open up.
“You didn't give me an answer, because I wanted to give you some time to digest everything that went on.” Clark paused for a second. “It was later in the day that you met me before my dad's election party.” Clark let out a very small laugh. “I was so nervous when you talked about not wanting to do this around all those people at the election party. I thought you were going to let me down easy, but..........You said yes.” Clark gave a small breath before telling her what her answer was, as if to relive the moment himself.
“I said yes.” Lana's eyes welled up tears, wishing so badly that she could have been there. That they could just go back to that moment. Except just then, it hit her, what could have happened to make Clark want to change things. “Clark, please tell what could have happened for you to change that. Tell me that something big happened and you had no choice.” Lana prepared herself for the answer as Clark now was brought back to the truth of what happened. The reason he had to go back in time.
“Some time during the party you left to see Lex. I don't know why, all I know is that I got a call from you later on that night........” He could her voice on the phone now, but it wasn't her words that kept him up at night. It was Lex's, “LANA WATCH OUT.” 'BOOM'. “You said that Lex had some how found out that you were keeping my secret and he was coming after as you drove away from the mansion.” A tear began to form on Clark's right eye. “It was only a second later, that I heard Lex scream for you to watch out and then heard a big noise. It sounded like a crash. I ran as fast as I've ever ran before to try to get to you, but...........I was to late.” The tear began to fall. “They were, laying there in your blood as I tried to......I don't know.......I.......” Clark couldn't speak any longer, the tear rolling down his eye.
Lana took her hand, placing it on the side of his face, using her thumb to wipe away the drops left by the tear. “You brought me back to life?” Lana asked, but her statement was more of a thankful loving one.
“I begged my biological father to bring you back. He agreed, warning me in his own way that there would be consequences for doing this and as always, he was right.” Clark said, not needing to go through the day that replaced the real one. “I didn't think it was possible to lose so much in one day. First, I loss you, then I loss my father and then my dream.” Clark stared blankly straight ahead.
“Clark, I don't know what to say. You turned back time for me and it cost you your father's life. I just wish I could have known and been there for you.” Lana paused, taking his hand in hers. “You don't have to go through these things alone.” Lana tried to convince him.
“I don't know to deal with it any other way. Every time I get close, there's something there that takes it all away and I can't live like that. I can't protect the people I love.” Clark admitted a truth that had haunted him from that day.
“Then maybe you need someone to protect you. Let me protect you.” Clark looked up at her questionably, not knowing how to respond. “I love you Clark and from what you've just told me, in heart I know you love me as much as you've told me in the past. Let me protect you.” Lana once again urged him.
“I don't want to be put in that spot.” Clark replied without hesitation.
“And I don't want to live in a world where the man I love is losing everything and I don't know what i'm doing with my life. I bet for those couple of hours you just told me about, that I was as happy as ever and if danger is the price for happiness, than so be it.” Lana said with full confidence.
“What about Lex? And are you sure he didn't do anything to you?” Clark went back to their previous topic.
“You just told me all I need to know about Lex and no, I wasn't upset about him.” Lana paused, not sure if she should tell Clark this now, but if not now, then when? “I'm pregnant Clark, at leas that's what the doctor said.” Lana looked away from ashamed. Clark couldn't believe what her heard, but tried to stay calm and confident.
“A baby? I.........” Clark couldn't get the words out as Lana still avoided eye contact. “I love you and I take with that whatever it brings. All I know is that I want to be with you. I want to wake up every day and go to bed every night with you.” Clark lifted Lana's chin, bringing her eyes to his, before kissing her. She brought her arms around his head to bring him closer as their kiss heated up. Only stopping for some much needed air.
“Now, I have a feeling there's so much more to hear.” Lana grinned and Clark smiled widely back.
“And there's enough time to hear everything, because I don't plan on every letting you.” Clark said, staring deep into her eyes.

Kal couldn't keep the smirk off his face as he and Lois prepared to enter the dinning room for the wedding party. All the things he would say and do. More importantly, he prayed for the chance to tear Lex in two, after all the things Lex put him through. He felt so free right now, without having to worry about people's feelings and emotion or this and that. Out with the old, in with the much better.
“Well, Lois, look they started without us.” Kal shouted as he and Lois barged into the party startling everyone, including Lex and Lana.
“Clark, what are you doing here?” Lex mumbled through his teeth, not thinking Clark would actually have the balls to show up to his wedding party with Lana.
“I'm hurt Lex? You didn't invite your former best friend to your wedding party? I mean, didn't you like the toast I gave last time?” Kal paused to turn to Lana. “I know Lana did.” Kal smiled in a cocky way and Lana peared back with eyes that looked to have their own heat vision.
Before anything else was said, Kal noticed his mother. “Wow, my own mother dining with the enemy?” Kal walked up to the table to face his mother.
“Clark, let's go outside and talk.” Martha tried to remain calm, knowing exactly who she was dealing with here. Tough love wasn't going to work.
“I'm fine mom, I don't think I want to talk to someone who date a man my father hated. You do remember dad right?” Kal stopped as if waiting for an answer. “Oh wait, I forgot, you've moved way beyond him. Now you're racing Lana to see who can add Luthor to their name faster.” Kal snapped as Martha was at a loss for words.
Lex starts to move toward Kal before Lana speaks up. “Lex, please.......” Lana quickly said and Lex stopped despite his first instinct.
Kal saw this and smirked to himself. “No, Lana please let him. He knows what happened the last time we fought in here. I kicked his butt all over his own mansion and nothing would make me happier than to do it again. So please Lex, do something.” Kal dared him. Lana eyes pleaded toward Lex, so he stayed put. “Too bad.” Kal faked regret, then walked over to Chloe. “I can't say I'm surprised to see you here. After all, you did spend all those years being the jealous best friend, right? Lana getting all the attention and the one guy you always wanted. Me.” Kal paused to lean into Chloe. “Can't say it hasn't crossed my mind. I mean damn, any guy would some of that.” Kal checked out Chloe before walking toward Lana. “Last, but certaintly not least.......You know I have to hand it to you. If you were on the rebound, why not choose the guy who I can't stand the most? Why not choose a bigger liar and scumbag than Lex Luthor? But damn Lana, the joke's over by now. Give us the punchline.” Kal ranted.
“Shut up Clark, I don't know why you're here, but you need to leave before you do some real damage!” Lex firmly scolded Clark.
“I'M NOT DONE YET!” Kal snapped back, before settling down. “Besides Lex, I haven't made my toast yet, just like old times.” Kal lifts up a glass. “To Lex and Lana..........Oh and the baby that they're having together. Yeah, I'm sure Lex failed to mention that. He knew Lana would need a baby to want to marry him. Here.....” Kal tossed Lex a baby's rattled. Lana's eyes about to explode with anger as she stared at Kal.
Suddenly, Lex charged after Kal who tossed Lex like a rag doll through a thing of glasses. Everyone in the room shreked and Lana rushed to Lex. “How could you?” Lana angrily questioned Kal and stood up to face him.
“With ease. Now if no one else wants to end this, I might as well.” Kal took Lana by the wrist and began to walk out, before Lois walked in front of them.
“Where you going? I'm your future, not her.” Lois wanted to know.
“This is the present.” Kal simply said, before pushing past her with Lana.
Kal led Lana by the wrist up the loft, as she followed. Although, being held, she wasn't putting up much of a fight as she just tried to make sense of what was happening.
“What are you doing Clark? And why are we here? You just can't barge into my wedding party, beat up Lex and then drag me here, like a hostage.” Lana went off on him and Kal seemed unfaazed by the words.
“I didn't have to try hard. Come on Lana, you knew about four people at the party and as for beating up Lex, I barely touched him. Trust me on that one.” Kal laughed and Lana just shook her head.
“What do you want, huh? Another lecture on how bad Lex is?” Lana sarcastically asked him.
“You know you don't want to marry Lex. Be honest Lana, you're not going to be happy with someone like Lex and like I mentioned before, it wasn't for the baby this wouldn't even be an issue now.” Kal explained, although not in his usual way. He seemed more 'Clark-like'.
“I've already made up my mind, thank you very much and there's nothing you can say to change that.” Lana stood tall in front of him, trying to be strong.
“I think there is.......” Kal stared back in her eyes and Lana just shrugged him off.
“If you want to play games, then i'm leaving.” Lana began to walk away.
“I'm still in love with you.” Kal confessed, again showing more of Clark in him then of Kal. Lana stopped walking when she heard those words. “Yes, I love you. Shouldn't it be obvious by now? And I know the truth is that you still love me too.” Kal said as Lana tried to keep herself together.
“It's too late Clark.” Lana turned to say to him, but after doing so he came right up to her.
“Your lips say different.” Kal took her lips in his. She resisted slightly at first, before pushing her lips back at his and putting her arms on his shoulder. A couple seconds later they broke apart, Kal looked lovingly into her eyes. “Marry me, we can go where no one will find us.”
Lana returned his look for a second, before pushing away. “No, you can't do this to me. You can just kiss me and assume everything changes. I made a decision and you stood there, for so many times, doing nothing. You told me you didn't love me and pushed me out. You don't that to someone you love.” Lana said in tears as Kal looked on with a sympathizing look on his face.
“Lana!” Lex yelled from the bottom of the stairs and Lana ran to him with a hug. Kal had regain his swagger and started on his way down the loft stairs.
“Well, isn't this story a little reversed. Lex Luthor saving Lana Lang from Clark Kent. Some how I feel we have the story backward.” Kal wondered a loud as Lana looked worriedly on.
“What do you think is going to happen Clark?” Lex faced Kal in a defensive stance.
“The one you're afraid of the most. The thing that is protecting your so called marriage with Lana and that's the truth.” Kal answered.
“I'm not the one with the secrets and lies problem, that's you.” Lex threw back at him.
“Really? Then why don't you talk about the reason we fought that day in your mansion? Why don't you talk about Simone? “ Kal paused for a second, waiting for an answer. “Cat got your tongue? Come on Lex, lets talk about the truth? No? Ok.” Kal looked past Lex to Lana now, knowing he had won his battle with Lex. “Tell me you love Lex more than me.” Kal asked of Lana, who couldn't find the words. “LANA TELL ME......” Kal started to say as he walked toward Lana, but before he could finish Lex pulled a gun.
“Stop right there, Clark.” Lex demanded as he pointed the gun toward Kal.
“Big mistake Lex. You don't know who you're messing with.” Kal mocked him, before knocking the gun away. Kal had lex choked up against the wal, before Martha came in with a meteor rock. Lana was able to see the weapon Lex used against Kal, before leaving.
Clark stood in front of the loft window, trying to collect his thoughts, but having no success in doing so. After what happened last night now there was nothing to stop Lana from marrying Lex. Nevermind the things that he said to Chloe and his mom, who did forgive him. However, last night hurt him more deeply. He just didn't know what to do. He also didn't hear the footsteps of someone walking up the loft stairs.
Lana didn't know how to start, so she just walked up next to Clark, who had begun to lean depressingly toward on side of the window. “It's still beautiful seeing the sunset up here.” Lana mentioned as Clark turned in disbelief to see Lana.
“Lana.......” Clark wasn't sure what to say.
“Hey, hope you don't mind I decided to stop by. I figured I would give you the chance to apologize here, instead of at the mansion.” Lana told him part of the truth and Clark nodded thankfully.
“You know I would never do something like under my own power. Lois was on something and she kissed me, than I must of gotten it too.” Clark explained the best he could. “I still owe you an apology, despite what may have happened to me. What happened at the party should never have happened.” Clark thought it best to apologize anyways.
“Can I be honest with you?” Lana looked up at Clark, who thought the answer was obvious.
“Always.” Clark urged her.
“I've seen you like that before. When we were sophmores with that girl Jess. Then there was Metropolis with the night club and penthouse. Lastly, there was tonight.” Lana reviewed for Clark.
“I wish I could take back those moments, but I can't. All I can is apologize and do my best to make sure they don't happen again.” Clark needed her to know, but Lana just shook off his words.
“I didn't bring up those moments for an apology Clark.” Lana made clear, before going on. “When we were up here in the loft, just the two us. I didn't see that person I just mentioned. I saw Clark Kent.” Lana told him.
Clark didn't know what to make of her comments. That wasn't him, it was Kal. He didn't understand at all. “Lana, I was on something that entire time.” Clark repeated to her.
“That isn't what I saw when you told me you still loved me. I didn't see this other person when you said all you wanted was for me to be happy.” Lana wanted him to know. “I saw you. After all the lies and the secrets you've told me, I can tell when it's you in there. Our eyes always give us away.” Lana said.
Clark didn't know how quite to respond. “I don't understand. What do you want me to say Lana?” Clark looked lost into her eyes.
“The one thing that this person you turn into can seemingly do. Tell the truth, because after last night, I know what the truth is. You're still in love with me.” Lana stunned Clark.
“Lana, everything is different now.” Clark stopped himself.
“Nothing is different, especially not the fact that we're still in love. I just want the truth from the real you and i'm not leaving until I get it.” Lana gulped, hoping to find the strength to go through with this.
“What about Lex?” Clark asked.
“What about us? I want to know the truth before I do anything with Lex. Last night made it clear I can't run away from us.” Lana revealed to him.
“I..........I.........” Clark mumbled before taking Lana lightly by the shoulders and kissing her, just as he did last night as Kal. “Marry me.” Clark proposed after the kiss.
“Clark.........” Lana was shocked at the porposal, especially after it came last night as well.
“After I tell you everything, of course.” Clark smiled widely.
“Of course.” Lana echo'ed his statement. “You can start with this.” She showed him the bent up tool used by Lex to hit Clark last night.
“It's a long story.” Clark warned.
“Well, you just made it clear we have the rest of our live ahead of us.” Lana reached up her lips to his. “I'm ready.” She said before kissing him passionately in front of the sunset.

“I'm Kal-el..” Clark said it, almost like a deep breath.
“You're an alien? You just look..........like Clark Kent to me.” Lana said, standing right in front of him, her eyes never leaving his.
“Now go save the world, my Kal-el.”
“Nothing on God's green earth could stop me from coming back to you.” Their eyes locked once more, before Clark super speeded away. You wrote some fine lines there, SmallvilleMan. Imaginative too, 'cause I never pictured that scene from Vessel ending with Clark telling Lana the truth. I like your version better.:D Good job.
