so awkward... though I don't blame him, Metrolopolis is so gloomy, so grim I thought they were in Gotham for a second

I wanted to see an episode like this for a long time. This shows what really makes Clark Superman. His never ending hope in humanity and how he considers someone not saved until they turn their life around were seen in this episode. I like the impact he had on his partner.

I agree with you. I wanted to see Clark as a cop...seeing life through the Lens of a service man puts his perspective of who he can be in a different light. Yes it was different some might even say cheesy but overall it was real.

I agree.
It was cool to see Clark as a cop.

I think it was a good followup to Season 1's Rogue. This episode showed how several officers/detectives in the Metropolis PD lose their faith in the justice system and then go down the same wrong path as the criminals they fight against. It showed us how Phelan became the way he did and how Maggie Sawyer's bleak outlook seen in Exposed came to be. It also shows that Superman will be an energizing force who will motivate & re-align them to their original operatives.

I liked it. Clark got a glimpse into the heads of police officers -- the faith that they and their families need to sleep at night -- and what happens when they're overwhelmed.

I liked how it taught Clark, Oliver, and John that working alone is not always the best course of action.

I also liked how Clark came up with disguising himself as a cop on his own. No Chloe, no Lois. I like how he is coming up with his own style to do his investigations.

Clark being a cop worked for me. Love a man in uniform:)

I loved seeing Clark as a cop. It was fun. Whenever Clark whines about being a hero I always think of firefighters and cops. So its nice for Clark to see real heroes in action, heroes who are not bulletproof. I noticed that the last name Clark used was Fordman. Whitney going into the service made Clark think about heroism once upon a time. :D

Haha, Joe Fordman. I guess he considers his cop persona a cross between Jor-El & Whitney.

Yea i agree the cop subplot for clark was pretty good thing in the episode. Loved how he was when he was the cop and helping dan turnpin turn his life around. To bad they blew it with clark in the end going with lana once again.

I never saw it that way before. That actually makes alot of sense and really explains why they are so gloom and doom before Superman arrives. He inspires and brings hope and perhaps Metropolis was a bit like Gotham before Superman arrived.
My favorite part of the episode was definitely Clark's influence on Oliver and the cop in tonight's epsiode.

I was thinking "Joe" was homage to his middle name. I could be wrong...

Luckily that was 70-80% of the episode.
Clark as a cop was actually interesting.
In the comics Dan Turpin isn't a big Superman fan, not because of what he represents but because he feels he takes the credit for what he feels the cops do on a daily basis.
This episode did a great job in portraying that story on TV.
Shame about the Clana though:lol:

I'd rather see Clark become Superman. He has a good chance, like in yesterdays episode, of someone finding out about his alienage and powers.

I also liked seeing Clark as a cop. However, I couldn't help but hope that at the end of the episode he'd get an awesome byline as well. Clark Kent going undercover for the greater good is exactly what I'd expect him to do - it was very proactive and I loved it; I'm all for him choosing the ethical route and actually making a difference in someone's life as opposed to him exploiting the situation, but he has to make a living and earn his keep at the Planet, too.

I really liked everything about Clark being undercover. I enjoyed seeing the portrayal of Dan as well as the other police officers. They were weathered, seasoned and believeable! I have to say those were the parts of this episode I really enjoyed watching.

EXACTY. That is why I say this epi makes Clark a hero (with no regression). He uses his values to help his partner. It was so great. I like to see Clark with his powers but to see him using his "heart" is the best for me. He is a true hero.
To be a cop was a good idea, he can see the crime in another way. He will protect this town, he has to know what is going on...Clark, our hero:p

I guess I'm a bit jaded because I just think that seeing handsome Clark Kent in any type of clothing HOTTER than words can express!! He was so fine as a cop, I nearly forgot to pay attention to the main plot line (that hair, those eyes, that chest, them thighs) sorry I digress, but I liked the Danny Turpin introduction from the animated series (although I have to wonder if the writers will bring on Darkseid next who eventually ends up murdering poor Danny whom ultimately comes to respect 'the big guy'). I also think that the brotherhood angle was a nice touch and the theme of pride and prejudice. The Clana revisit is a bit weird for me now because we know she's leaving and that Lois and he are meant. Funny how Lois is inbred tough, but Lana came from the damsel in distress to Chun Li-now she's kickin tails and taken names (just ask Tess lol). Go My Girl Chloe reminding her BFF to watch his emotional stomp on her cuz Lois' heart-nice to know that her fam's got her back!

I think Clark looked good dressed in the Cop uniform.
Wouldn't every cop like to have Superman as their partner.

I would have loved to see clark looking or becomign a cop for a few episodes in season 5 when he was mortal and such and when the sheriff suggested he should go into law. if he had done a few episodes there i think it would have built up to his whole becoming superman thing

I just saw The Shield today for the first time, it was the pilot episode and I really liked it. In fact, as I was watching, I couldn't help but see the parallels in this episode - the brotherhood, the corrupt cops, etc. - sure, Smallville is no where near as gritty as The Shield, but it made me love Bulletproof even more! Now I can't wait to see this episode again.

I thought this was a good episode. It was something different at least.
