This represents one of the struggles I have with the episode. I do not see a vision or overall plan with the characters. The plots seem to go week to week. For example, they brought Tess ono as a villian, and she was great in that role. Now is that changing? Same thing with Lana, I can't tell what the overall purpose is,. The same theme with Lana and Clark is getting old too me. I can understand the need for closure in that relationship, but then, what was the purpose of the DVD at the end of the seaon. Maybe it's me being slow on the uptake. I can't see where the show is headed or what they want out of this show. This has been constant in other episodes, that I won't go into in this thread, but that was by biggest problem with Bulletproof.

I gave it a 7/10

I liked it right up until the end. The last scene made me wish I hadn't even bothered watching the rest. It pretty much ruined everything that was good in the episode up to that point because in my opinion, Clark took a huge step backwards. I gave it a five.

I think this episode was alright. Not one of my favorites but watchable. I liked the darker edger feel of it. I enjoyed Clark finally doing investagative reporting and seeing him deteremined to look for the truth.
I'm tired of Clark and Oliver at heads so many times but at least they did end up solving something for the greater good and both learn something from it. Can't we all just get along. :)
I really like Chole & Clarks scene sweet and to the point. She protecting her family and letting Clark know what he has the habit of doing without realizing it. She's just letting him know she's aware of the situation and where she stands with Clark, Lana, and Lois. I'm good with that. WARNING CLARK...
Tess story interesting Lana being a "bad a**" since when. Whatever at this point. This character has changed so much I just want her to disapper because it confuses me to much and I want to scream. :Puke:
Clana scene I could of done without because Clark is back being a idiot (knock him in the head) after I was so proud of him. However I did see something different in that kiss. No passion, No want, No burning. It was like flame out. Clark you didn't feel it done deny it.
Over Clana. Bring On Clois

What is all the hate toward Lana?:( Yes, I agree w/all of you that the kiss should have never taken place. And that it did not have the passion it once did for those too. But KK has done in my humble opinion an outstanding job in showing how much Lana has changed. She is not the little girl needing to be saved anymore. The smackdown between her and Tess was great. Their is a fierceness in Lana's eyes now. And remember I know the show is not about her, but maybe she needs to realize as do all of you, that Clark is not good for her either, he holds her back. Remember in Legion when she was told she does more than just follow CK around, she has her own destiny.y

Clark does need to move on, and I agree w/another posting that it should be him that says goodbye to Lana; with no tears or anger or hurt on her part. Just the realization that "her" Clark is no longer her's and that the world needs him more. Also that that they (Clana) need to just be good friends, no more.

KK is a good actress and I wish her well in future endeavors. I do hope if they renew for Season 9 ( and if they do, that should be the last one, let it go out w/integrity and sending it on the full "Superman mode), that she (KK) will return for one last episode or two to say good bye to Clana, and hello to Clois w/her blessings.

Now People let it go (this hateful Clana stuff), KK will only be on two more episodes, and then prayerfully Clark will finally move on to embrace his destiny and hopefully FLY, and continue to save the world.:)

I gave the episode a 9, tho i would have given it a 10 if it weren't for Lana

Why did i like it so much?

Every character (apart from Lana) had an interesting storyline. Clark's little side mission to help that cop was the most Supermanly thing i think i've ever seen him do in an emotional sense. But that's what's most important for me. I don't care about the physical developments of Superman as much as the mental side of it. I was reminded of the much more trusting and hopeful Clark of earlier seasons who i had almost feared was buried under layers of cynicism.

Tess' realisation of just how far Lex had gone was intense. although it made me see Tess as a bit selfish because she accepted that Lex would fake a pregnancy and miscarrage and was then surprised he was using her like that? Oh and is anyone else creeped out by the fact Lex must have watched Ollie having sex with her?

The Green Arrow was great in this one. I particulary loved his line about Clark's guilt thing. Yet again Ollie speaks the words that i'm thinking in my head. I know some are tired of his constant lectures but there is an element of truth. However, i miss Ollies computerised voice! what happened to that! i thought it was a vital part of the disguise.

The overall themes in the episode were truly brilliant for a show about a guy learning to be Superman. And i liked how the scenes came together. The last scene with Clark and the cop he'd helped reminded me of how supernatural episodes were wrapped up in the first season... they come in and help and then there is the thankyou scene.

And now on to the bad point...

Lana...

Oh goodness, i don't know what to do with her. Bride had me thinking she had actually changed for the better. But as it turns out, she's just as arrogant, sickly sweet and pathetic as ever. Am i tired of Lana-fu? YES, am i tired of Lana being told she's amazing by absolutely everyone? MORE THAN ANYTHING!, am i tired of CLANA! YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!

There is a part of me that can understand the need for a clana kiss. they have to respect the Clana fans... if i were a Clana fan and Lana came back for a few episodes, it'd be a slap in the face to have no kiss.

But why did they have to make it so horrendous... to have Clark walk in, after such a wonderfully Superman filled episode, and then stride up declaring that he wants her and the world doesnt have to come first and it's now about what they need....

and then to have her kiss him back? i thought she had moved on... i thought that in Bride she had made that clear.

All this proved is that Clark is kind of pathetic, and so is Lana and that was just the biggest disapointment.

The episode would have benifited greatly if there simply was no Lana... if Tess had found out on her own about the camera, if there was no stupid girl fight...

I'm not even curious about who Lana is working for anymore... because i just want her gone. I didn't realise how much i loved ED's Lois until she was gone for two episodes and replaced with Lana who is just the most irritating character ever on tv

The key storylines are present from week to week, but they're developing and evolving. Hence, Tess turning against Lex despite her former devotion to him. The reason that there's no clear direction with Lana is because it's a mystery - we don't know who she's working for, why she's back, or why she really left, so it's hard to speculate as to her future. As for the Clana situation, I can see why this would frustrate you, but refer to my previous post in this thread for rasons why there's no need to worry about it wrecking the show.

Jade, everytime you said "As If" I was dying over here. I've never heard your voice before, but I picture this Alicia Silverstone voice in my head when I read those sentences. And if that review was "lethal", then you are far too nice! Great review, and thanks!

Worth the wait as always Cedric!
I'd say you're inside my head on this one, but that's scary for both of us
Hope the weather gets brighter for ya hun!
Thanks a lot Annie. I have something coming up for Requiem that you may appreciate. How's that for a teaser? The CW should hire me to do their episode descriptions.

And thanks. The weather is clear this morning with a chance for sunshine by the afternoon.

Cedric, You have outdone yourself!!!! [laughing out loud and cheering]!

I love your perspective on Clark's emotional regression, and how even remotely hinting at the idea of rekindling his relationship with Lana-Fu would somehow be good for his character! Bravo!

The wig innuendo I have to say had me in stitches! I've bolded my favorite parts!!! Loved the whole thing though!! Oh, you kill me!!Bravo!!!!!!!

I hope you're feeling better BTW! Thanks for the review!
Oh Michelle thank you thank you! And I am feeling much better now, thanks! I do hope they do something the hair issue, but that fight was just too ridiculous to overlook. I don't know why they are trying to turn Lana into the Chun Li character, but it will never EVER fly on SV no matter how hard they push this.

Thanks Alex, Lis, and Belen. Glad I could entertain for the 5 minutes it took you to read that. I didn't think it was possible, but my reviews are getting longer.

Cedric, you slay me!
But wow, very favorable number you gave there.
Thanks Badtoad. It took everything within me not to kill this episode because the last 3 minutes had me about as angry as I've ever been with the show. But if I just block out those minutes I feel this was one of the best episodes of the season. I can overlook a lot of flaws if Clark if treated well, and for almost all of the episode he was great. In quality and quantity. I gave Odyssey and Legion a low 8, and I thought Bulletproof were much better than those two. So I went with a low 9.

But I can guarentee next week won't a 9, or a 8, or a 7, or a 6...

Cedric, my friend. Curse that rotten weather; it got to me too. That and a Pinky rash.

May I say that your version is the only way I'd watch The View and Dora. I'm all for bilingual education, but Clark improved Dora rather handily, just like he did Meredith. Kudos. But I was right there with you throwing light bulbs at him. No wonder Oliver attempts to rip holes in him left and right.

I have very fond memories of your barbecue at the Kents; that fake steak was making me as hungry as Davis for some good barbecue. And thats despite the nausea. Then there was the Clark electrocution dance and Oliver's Home Depot nervous system paralyzing darts and Lana importantly unimportant; genius!

Martian Manhunter is sorely underused and bless you for not being an ageist.

Lex has a thing for psychotic women, doesn't he? *wait for it: TM... LLL*

As for Tess, I think it wasn't just two scoops, I think it was the buffet.

Turpin's kid is pretty accident prone, isn't he? Just saying.

And Lana, uncover the mirrors, the extensions are looking worse for the wear. I'm not a fashion maven, but even I'm starting to notice.

Clark had me on my feet applauding for the ricochet off of his self. Bulletproof vest-*ha, ha, the jokes on the dirty cop, or should I say in him* And what redeemed him from the last 3 minutes for me was the last 3 seconds. Because he ended the awkwardness and it looked like he might be realizing that it was.

One last thing: "raw sewage > Power" ??? oooo, *high hat cymbal crash* good one. Time will tell.
My dear Ann, thank you! This particular intro was pretty easy to do because I just envisioned the dumbest thing I would say to these people and went with it. Ahh, I am so destined for a mental institution when I grow old.

Touché on the buffet! And as for Turpin's kid.. :sigh: That poor child needs a Nintendo Wii and fast before he paralyzes himself.

Get well soon, K?

Cedric... that was one of your best reviews.

The Monopoly line cracked me up and what came after it was just as good.

Oh, the Wii for Turpin, Jr., what a great idea. I can see him turning into Sheldon et al on the Big Bang Theory, wearing bowling shirts for Wii tournaments.

I can hardly wait for Requiem, knowing you have something in mind. :)

I forgot to mention it but I have to say the filming was pretty cool, especially at the beginning. The dark look with the brilliant city lights was stellar.

Loved it! Especially the Clana interaction. I loved Clark's last conversation with Danny, & how it made him think about Lana and go to see her. I'm happy the writers gave us that bit of Clana, before they go on to tear them apart for good. I liked the parallel between the cop and his family, & Clark. Clark sees that lots of "heroes" can "save the world" & still have a family & he wants that, if Lana does. He needs her, he wants her, & hopes they can be together & he can still save the world. I love that.

Thanks, PS3, for giving us that before KK is gone.

This was a filler episode and only worth a 7--easily the weakest of the season, made more so by the last three minutes when we had to revisit the whole Clana thing again. Seriously, does anyone know that many fans that still like this relationship. Let Lana develop on her own and get Clark and Lois back together. Quite disappointing and it deserves the low television ratings it got.

When Clark had his chat with MM and GA, about being a part of a brotherhood that could make you feel like you can do anything, it foreshadowed their own destiny re: JLA -- at least that's how I took it. It seems Clark took it to mean that re-committing himself to a relationship with Lana was the thing to do. I realize Clana post-secret is a different entity, but they do have a lot of baggage. I think they just wanted to put a speed bump on Clois, which had accelerated right up to "Bride".

I hope that Clark has learned from his missteps in believing that he can have his cake and eat it too. He has dithered long enough re: claiming his destiny, and I can't blame Ollie for being increasingly antsy over Clark's deferred destiny. He already tried the domestic bliss thing with Lana after the fallout of the "Lex"vorce. I fear that he -still- may not have learned all those lessons.

This is my first week on the fitness program after all and I'm trying to really tone up by Spring Time! Anyways, BulletProof gets a 7 out of 10 from me. Hi Cedric (WAVES)! Clark was fantastic in every way for all of the episode, except those last 3 minutes. One of the best episodes of the season for him, except for those last 3 minutes. I can't say enough about him and how proud he made me.. except for those last 3 minutes. It would have been perfect episode for him.. if not for those last. 3. minutes!

it was ok not the best but the story line does makes some sense .
so far i loved the way the episodes have been connected to one another
and hope the episodes have more action also in the coming weeks. i think thats were the entire series is suffering too much talk from a comics action series .
Hope clark changes to superman and the faceoff between him and doomdays will be in this season 8 itself.

Was sad to hear that season 9 is still doubtful , you people should check the overseas
rating of your show trust me the younger generation is watching .why do you think batman dark knight is the biggest hit of the year followed by ironman all comics super heroes tiles coming this or in the making have increased in the past few years with not one but more than 3 parts.

I do understand the budget restriction but you should check .Smallville reaches out to far
more generation than you can imagine.

Cedric wrote:

MM of course was great in his two scenes, but again.. why do they bring this guy on the show and barely use him? He should have at least 6 minutes of screentime every time he's on. Its getting ridiculous. They don't realize what a good character they have here. But I bet they appreciate the hell out of Lana. UGH.

Turpin and his story was one of the best for a guest star I can remember. Bryan Miller is the best writer on the show currently. His storylines have a pace and a flow to them unlike any other writer. And nothing is there just to be there. There's always a point to even the most innocent lines. SV got a real winner there.

I didn't mind Tess in her last scene, but the Lana stuff was just puke worthy.

A big thumbs up for the Lois convo. While I felt that Chloe was adding a little guilt trip on her own part, at least she asked Clark a pointed question when speaking about Lois. I wish she would have let him say what he wanted to say before interrupting him though. She gave him an escape. Clark needs to verbalize how he feels. I would have loved to hear what he was going to say.

Clark was fantastic in every way for all of the episode, except those last 3 minutes. One of the best episodes of the season for him, except for those last 3 minutes. If not for that ending and the Lana worship, this could have been a high 9 or even a low 10. It was a much better episode than Legion which I gave a 8. So I'm going to give it a 9. One of the best of the season.

Well after " Bride" and " Legion" I figured that this episode was more filler and set up material. I really like the relationship of Clark and Lana now. She is much stronger and both so much more mature. I would really like to see how, if was given the time, things would work out now.

The Good
- Clark doing his own investigation in the beginning of the show
- Clark leaving Lana's side to go check on the MM
-the few scenes of MM and Dr.Hamilton
- Clark and GA butting heads. This reminds me of when the JLA was formed and the superheroes would bicker constantly with each other. Superman always thought of himself as invincible and that would rankle the other members
-Clark going undercover(hopefully we will see him under some other cover soon)
_Clark standing up for his beliefs
-Clark being proactive
- Tess learning that the true master of villainy has pawned her(Boo!I see you)
-Lana and Tess fight(meow)
-Chlark scene

The Bad
-the few scenes of MM and Dr.Hamilton
-Tess crying like a baby because of Lex. As a student of Lex she should have applauded such Machiavellian tactics. Good help is so hard to find these days
- the END scene
- GA really needs to learn stealth techniques from The Batman

The Ugly
-Lana want to being Lex's equal. No Lana. NO. He is evil, a true master of trickery and deceit. You want to be more like Clark.

9/10

First of all, WORD to Annie. I swear you can read my mind! And Cedric you have totally outdone yourself this time, my stomach still hurts from all the laughing I did.

To be fair to this episode, there were lots of things in it that I liked. There was lots of Phil Morris but in my opinion not enough, I just adore that guy. The Tess/Lana smackdown was fun but nowhere near as brilliant as the Chloe/Lana fight in 'Delete'. Chloe was her usual huggable self, I thought she was lovely in that tiny little scene where she mentions Lois, and Clark is a bit...odd. There was also a moment of pure 'ewwwww' after Lana reveals that Lex has been watching everything through Tess's eyes thanks to his really implausible technology - Tess was looking in the mirror and I thought she was gonna gouge her eyes out or something. Actually, there were two 'ewww' bits - I realised that Lex would've been watching when Ollie scratched Tess's itch....which means Lex has seen Ollie with no clothes on  ... that is so wrong.

Then there was lots of Clark. Which considering that I tune into Smallville because of him was a very good thing... Clark in that grey/white top ...Clark in that nice suit ... Clark in uniform... Oh lord  I really liked the undercover cop storyline because it gave Clark the chance to see Metropolis from someone else's POV and also realise how he is perceived in his guise of the Blue-Red Blur. Plus he was being very Superman-ly trying to help Danny find his way back to the right side. Yay for Bryan Q. Miller, I hope this guy gets to write more episodes.

As for the other subplot, I am ignoring it altogether. That way I won't get angry and feel the need to boycott my favourite show :D

Hey did anyone else recognize "plowguy" (Ty Olsson in Men in Trees) ?

I loved this episode, except for the last three minutes (yes I know, I stole this line).

During the first seasons I was a riveted Clana fan. But slowly somewhere along seasons 6 and 7 Clana lost me. Don't get me wrong, I've never stopped enjoying Smallville. As long as Tom Welling stars in this show, I will keep watching and rewatching and rewatching ...
But lately Clois has been growing on me. ED really convinced me during Committed. I felt for her when Clark stepped aside during their dance (Bride) only because Lana happened to show up. I really didn't believe Lana would have such an impact now that Clark has matured. I really thought he wouldn't stray from his developping relationship with Lois.
I'm glad Lana will only be back for a limited number of episodes. Hopefully Lois will give Clark another chance.

But don't worry, whatever happens, Smallville forever !

I loved the episode. I really did. Dan Turpin was awesome. Clark undercover as Joe Fordman. I loved it. Except for the last scene in the Talon between a trainwreck-of-a-relationship. I mean honestly, how many times do we have to see them together- and then bring ripped apart for the umpteenth time?? Hmm- I guess some actually enjoy that.

neat to see the police's point of view on the heroics of Clark and Oliver. It's very intriguing for me to see a mortal Martian Manhunter. What a great character, what a passionate actor.
Like most people, the Lana/Clark passion is not necessarily the most welcome return. But it does have a bit more intrigue when we all know that Lois is the other point of the triangle.
